Is there such a job where a citizen can apply for a military job testing and redesigning weapons and armor (such as Humvee plating) to greatly improve their design for minimal cost? Or do you have to have a degree of some sort in the field of said testing. [i.e. engineering, physics, chemistry, etc...]

For example, let’s say I was the first person to design doors on the Humvee which were otherwise unheard of and completely alien. They provide more protection and function, compared to their cost.
Without a degree in structural engineering or whatever that field would be, would they even listen to such an "alien" (at the time) idea of adding doors?
I’m not saying I already have the idea to add on the "doors," I’m saying if I was given something to make better, I probably could.

If I was loaned a Humvee and asked to find a way to make it better, that’s how I would find such things.

I don’t imagine a big company would be too trusting with that concept though; they all have degrees in the field when I don’t. However, I believe thinking outside the box may be the key there.

This is a Democrat-sponsored bill (Carolyn McCarthy and Charles Schumer) that would impose a lifetime ban on firearm’s ownership to any service member ever diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (a treatable condition).

I guess these Dems in Congress are saying that you are nuts and might go "postal" when you get back to the states. Some welcome home, huh?

Seems to me, I can remember only two or three ex-soldiers going postal in the last 50 years, so this must not be a real issue.

Still, the Dems want to take your freedom.

"Go to war as a full citizen, return home as a lesser citizen."

Are you guys and gals going to put up with this, or vote those Dems out of office in 2008?

Bad enough the Dems block funding for much needed protective equipment, but for them to say that you have less freedom upon your return would be a crime.

I was a soldier too years ago, and as a soldier you can still vote.

And after you are a soldier, you will be a civilian.

Should you forever lose freedom because a shrink said you had some combat-related stress? Lost that freedom forever?
There may be some extra text in this bill I have not read or have misinterpreted. But the bottom line is we need to watch these Congressperson, especially as they impact the freedoms of our veterans. I cannot see why we would need government review of mental health statuses to authorize freedoms.

Maybe we should have a "Congressional Disarmament Bill" and strip Congress of any armed security in the Capitol, to see if they can "walk the talk".

I am new to airsofting and I am looking to get my first gun. I want a sniper rifle for about 0. What do you recommend? I saw a Mauser SR Pro Tactical Sniper Rifle and a UTG L96 on Craigslist for about 0 each. Are either of these guns good? Any advice is much appreciated.

in your opinion, which would the american military have more luck with?

M4 – the standard issue as of now. usually a fine gun in forest conditions but prone to frequent jamming in the sandy desert

AK-47 – every terrorist’s favorite. i have seen people in afghanistan dig up a couple from over ten years ago, pour a little motor-oil on it and put 500 rounds though it without a problem. somewhat bulky though but parts are dirt cheap, plentiful, and easy to repair.

please state which you think and why.
i say the AK-47 because, first off, its idiot proof. all of the mechanisms are made out of stamped metal, the barrel is chromium lined and there is just a level for a fire selector. also, it fires the heavy 7.62 cartridge, which is capable of punching through the ceramic armor plating on an average infantry man, plus the wall behind him. and the cartridge itself is much more compatible with self-disintigrating rounds, HE, and tungsten core armor piercing. And the ammunition is more widley available on the modern battlefield if the soldiers were to be cut-off from supplies
i do agree with all of you saying that the M4 is more accurate. its just that to get that accuracy, you have to trade off ease of maintainence. it requires many specialised tool, brushes and picks whilst the AK-47 only needs at most a paint brush and a bootlace

No more Military or Weapons Systems by Anyone, Anywhere at Anytime…Your Thoughts…

I have the scout badge in multiplayer but I can’t zoom the sniper rifle to 5X? I can do it in the campaign but not in multiplayer…

I see alot of people on yahoo answers from the British, Canadian, Germany and the rest of the world trying to compare their military to the USA. I bet 99% of them have never even carried a rifle and if they did they would be the first crying for their mothers with the guts hanging out. People who have actually been in combat dont care.

I am a guy, and my interests include guns, watching war and Western movies, and studying stuff like the CIA, KGB, the military, the Mafia, etc. I have girls asking me why guys only like that stuff, and it made me wonder. I have never seen a chick flick before, hate romance movies, and have seen several comedies, but not too many. I would guess because of testosterone, but I am not sure.
I know so much about the military that my cousin who is in the special forces asked me how I knew so much about the military, and told me that I am a genius when it comes to that stuff.

Besides Nuge, that is. So many of them (Rage against the machine, Green Day) have horrible lyrics, and I don’t really like country….
Bands that have a positive view of the military, firearms, business.
The thing is- Green day IS the establishment! They’re showing the same views as the rest of the media! I mean REAL conservatives! They are the TRUE rebels. I mean that’s what conservatism is all about! Getting rid of as much of the Government as possible and relying upon yourself!

Hi, iwanted to buy a Airsoft sniper rifle that is between 0-0. I would prefer a high fps and is very realistic. Can you give me a link on a few good guns that meet that criteria? Thanks!

I am inquiring as to which firearms for use in the military by infantry currently hold the title as the world’s most expensive.

Examples of assault rifles – http://world.guns.ru/assault/as00-e.htm

Examples of submachine guns – http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg00-e.htm

Examples of handguns – http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg00-e.htm

I am only trying to find the most expensive guns in these three particular categories. They do not have to be found in the above pages, they simply have to have the highest current market value in their respective categories.

Lastly, I do not own a gun presently and am not affiliated with the military or law enforcement agencies. I simply wish to have this information for my own personal reference.

To all people willing to answer this question for me, thank you in advance for your time and cooperation. Have a nice day.

I have a french Gras rifle, 11 mm in great shape with the bayonet. I understand that very few of these rifles exhist without the M80 modification. Mine has not been modified. How much is this rifle worth?

When broken down into it’s most basic elements, what is it specifically that makes a sniper rifle far more accurate than a normal infantry assault rifle, or average hunting rifle?

basically this is the new resolution for LD debate for January/February. this is also the resolution used for the tournament of champions. i already have somewhat of an idea of what to do.

so anyone have any ideas on it?
my value is national security. need help think of a criterion.

also, what would be some good contentions?
what kind of warrants can i use?
any thoughts on this would be welcome.
thanks.
wait, but aren’t preemptive wars more often to be justified?

Firearms. How about it’s use in WW2?
ME to! Give me a tommy gun anyday over a M-16. I know the M-16 is the better gun but I like the Tommy gun better.

it cant be a sniper.
carbines are included.
im looking for a gun that would have good accuracy, it has to be reliable, etc.

i think a gun like steyr aug is the best
a gun i think is bad is the m16 because Afghanistan is a dirty country.

Some factors are that the gun may not be cleaned that often and that it would be used for more than a whole day.

I was interested in getting one when I saw it on a TV program. I’m not from the USA so I want to know if it is available there. (The XM8 -sniper configuration in particular is what interests me) Any info on its price/ related websites will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is a UTG sniper rifle any good, All I’m looking to do is accurately shoot cans etc. If not UTG what should I get? I want a bolt action single shot for not grossly expensive. Thank you!

U.S. Military Weapons Inscribed With Secret ‘Jesus’ Bible Codes
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/us-military-weapons-inscribed-secret-jesus-bible-codes/story?id=9575794

Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a 0 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.

U.S. military rules specifically prohibit the proselytizing of any religion in Iraq or Afghanistan and were drawn up in order to prevent criticism that the U.S. was embarked on a religious "Crusade" in its war against al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents.

How do you think this goes down in Muslim countrues and is this just not further evidence that Bush started holy wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

The more advanced our rifles, shotguns, and machine guns get the less reliable and more likely to jam they become. I’d rather have a Winchester 1873 or a Model 1887 Shotgun than a M-16/M-4. At least my gun won’t jam every few magazines or if a piece of dust gets into the gun. Don’t even get me started on Semi Auto Shotguns. The M60 isn’t exactly reliable either. The ironic thing is, the fancier your gizmos get, the less reliable and prone to failure they become. Plastic guns (like the plastic cars) of today cannot ever hope to live up to the legacy as the weapons that won the west.
legacy of the*
Did I say anything about COD? Nice try getting out of the fact modern guns are unreliable pieces of crap. Oh, and by the way, I’m pretty sure the outside of an M-16 is plastic. It looks pretty plastic like to me.
Also I never said anything bad about the AK. It is still far better than our weapons. It’s a prime example of NOT JAMMING.
