How much longer do you think the m4/m16 will be the primary rifle of the US military in years?

Despite the enduring and very close diplomatic and military relationship between the United States and Israel, and all the indirect aid (funds, supplies, weapons etc.) the United States has given to Israel, it has occurred to me that I do not know of a single instance in which the United States actually lent troops or direct military action to an Israeli military operation or visa versa. Is it true that such has never happened?

Would you….
A) Follow the orders of the government,
You would not be allowed to leave your home.
Your food would be brought to you.
Military forces would be present.
All Firearms and self defense weapons would be seized.
Television stations would shut down. (Leaving one channel to broadcast federally approved information)
Anyone that has been convicted of any crime would be detained if not killed.
Anyone currently serving a sentence in prison would be put to death.
And most citizens would be detained without Habeas Corpus.
B) Fight Back
Gather your weapons.
Dig in.
Defend.
C) Contact your local Militia and join.
D) Join the US Military.
Pacifist need to pick A.
And it does not matter what the reason, your freedom just got jacked!
A reason very possible,
Say the Iranians provoke the United States in to war, a war approved by congress. Then the use a nuclear device provided by North Korea. The US will then institute the draft because the UN would place sanctions on us if we used nuclear weapons our selves. Causing us to go bankrupt with the World Bank, anyhow the US would institute the draft and a lot of people would go, some wouldn’t. Then Iran uses biological weapons killing thousands of our troops. We would send more troops, not realizing that Iran has been sending troops through South America. Soon Iranian forces would cross the Mexican border and begin an assault on US soil. Badda boom Badda Bang. Martial Law.

I once read that the US Army was going to replace their current sniper rifle with a new semi-automatic rifle, the M110 SASS, or semi-automatic sniper system. This change was going to supposedly take place in February 2010, but the goarmy.com website says they still use the standard M24 rifle. Can someone please clarify this for me.

I know for a fact that the military is not aloud to purchase any uniform items unless 98% or more of it is made in the US. They seem to be hypocritical about this American made stuff when it comes to firearms though. I understand that some of the best firearms in the world are not made in the US, but wouldn’t you think the US would try to push our own companies to make a better weapon? For instance, the Sig P226 is used by Navy SEALs. It’s an amazing gun, but it has to be imported to the US. Why not have an American company build a gun to meet our needs and not buy from another, even allied, country? Or at least have a company build them here in the US. I’m just wondering, not arguing with, the logic behind the US buying firearms that aren’t made in America.

terribly sorry for my imbescuity. I was not told the actual rifle, I was merely presented with the situation which, having been a soldier myself and studied emergency medicine could not perceive as actually having had happen and live none the less actually heal in a few weeks and go back on duty.

Was just looking at some figures and it seems the South is spending 5 times more on it’s military than the North (.5 billion compared to billion). Yet the North has nearly double the amount of soldiers, more tanks, a hell of a lot more submarines and double the amount of airforce personnel. I’d just like some examples of the weapons and equipment the South are using compared to what the North are using.

Standing in Walmart today, I was reading a gun magazine left by the cash register.
In the magazine, there was literal ‘flood’ of articles and advertisments, most full-page, of military-style rifles. LOTS of various scopes, some flashlights, and a variety of accessories. Very few guns.
Reading that, I assume that in the military, most of your targets are a distance away. But what about fighting in towns and cities. A handgun, or the rifle with all the accessories?

News item today–Democrats int he Senate found out from an AP news investigation that BushCo is selling military hardware to IRAN–and have introduced a bill to stop this particular piece of insanity.
So what this boils down to is Bush is helping our enemies get the weapons they need to kill our troops.
Okay, neocons, let’s you spin this one!

I became an Infantry Recruit in the US Army on January 14th. I’m currently reserve status until I graduate High School.
I am really big into the military, and I love studying about firearms and stuff like that. One of my favorite firearms is our very own M14. I am fully aware that it is "officialy" no longer in service, but I know there are soldiers who still use it. What are my chances of actually being able to get my hands on one? Would I have to become a marksman? Or would I have to strike a deal with an armorer?
It’s not like I’d hate life for not getting one. I haven’t even fired a gun before, and who knows, I might hate the M14, but I’m still curious…

A U.S. helicopter was shot down and crashed north of Baghdad on Wednesday, the military said after initially stating that the chopper made a "hard landing." All aboard were safely evacuated by a second helicopter and all had brown stains on the rear of their uniforms.
At least seven U.S. helicopters have crashed or been forced down under hostile fire since Jan. 20. Military officials have said that militants are increasingly targeting helicopters amid the buildup of U.S. troops in Baghdad, firing simultaneously with an assortment of weapons from different directions. The Army and Marines admit the insurgents are amazing. They ( Insurgents) never give up. The Iraq war may end up like another Vietnam.
