    3 way tie…M14, M16, AK-47

The M14 gets my rating because of it’s reliability and accuracy while firing Semi-automatic. It is still used by many USMC and Army Snipers today. It has excellent penetration and accuracy.

M16 is a revolutionary design which beat out the AK when it comes to range, and is more accurate than the M14 while firing Full-Auto. The 5.56mm round is also smaller and lighter than the .308 / 7.62 allowing soldiers to carry more ammo. There were a lot of kinks in the original M16, although they seem to have been mostly worked out.

The AK is the most reliable firearm of the three. There isn’t much you can do to it to prevent it from firing. It can be buried in the sand, run over by a tank, lit on fire…you get the picture. It has excellent penetration, although accuracy lacks something to be desired. The design is remarkably simple, and thus it is subject to less jamming. Plus, the sheer volume of AK’s in circulation guarantees the availability of spare parts and 7.62 x 39 mm ammo in just about any corner of the globe.

I don’t know what it’s called, but the Japanese used it in world war II. It was like a hand gun. I saw it on the Discovery Channel or something. IT was awesome. Fast and deadly. Probably not the best, but then again what do i know about rifles.

The Kalashnikov, hands down. The rifle that has fueled more rebellions, wars, terrorist attacks, genocides, and conquests than any weapon in history. More people have been killed with the Kalashnikov than ALL the weapons ever used in history combined.

The Kalashnikov is so reliable that it can operate in dusty deserts and damp jungles for years without being cleaned without jamming. It is light enough and easy enough to use that warlords in Africa have given them to children as young as 8 who became deadly soldiers.

Ak-47, has a good mid range caliber, durable, and with only 8 moving parts is easy to maintain.

  12. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

mauser 98 (aka the kar98k) or the ak-47…..both (assault) rifles and have been around fooooor a loooong time and still popular

mauser 98 made in 1935….and it variations of it are still very popular today

ak-47 made in 1947….and its (obviously) still very popular today

The infamous AK-47. It was first made right after world war two, and it still serves as the main combat weapon for 60+ armies. The reason for this is because of its reliability ( I mean this thing doesn’t stop shooting. Ive seen people bend them, put them in tubs of water, and bury it in sand, and it still kept shooting.), and its remarkable ease of use.

AK 47, to get the job done fast and move on……… Chute82.

  15. gregory_dittman

M16-A4 with its plug and play rail system. It can be a grenade launcher, a shot gun, a mini gun (collapsible stock), a sniper rifle with a high powered day scope or a night scope.

  16. mongo safari

    Springfield 1903

  17. ☭камрад☭

M4. Versitile, effective, well known. Not as Infamous as the AK-47, but longer ranges and more accuracy, and almost as reliable.

One of the answerers mentioned a Japaneese pistol of WWII, Im guessing they were talking about the Nambu, and let me tell ya, we have one in our family, and I’ve shot it. Piece of Crap. even the old Russian Nagnat is a far better handgun.

Depends on what kind of rifle you want.

Bolt Action: defiantly the 1903 Springfield.
    Semi Auto: M14
    Assault Rifle: M16

    All American baby!

6.5×55 Swedish Mauser; chromed barrell, shoots accurately and effectively from mountaintop to mountaintop.

    M14…….

And my second choice is the M16…..

    AK47
it may not be accurate as its competitors,
it may not be as advanced,
it may not be made of the most modern ultra strong polymers,
it doesn’t have a mount for a scope or any tactical accessories,

But it is the world’s most populous rifle. Everyone’s heard of it, its the prime choice of anyone or any nation that wants to wage a war cheaply. Its on multiple country flags, its stands for both freeing people from the chains of oppression as well as keeping people oppressed. The AK47 and its variants are extremely reliable and simple- nearly anyone can use one. It doesn’t take much training (if at all any) to teach someone to use one or maintain one.

I think the AK47 (and variants) would be around for decades to come, even long after all the other rifles of its era end up as pieces of private collectors or in museums.

    What about the Barrett M107?

  23. Scotticus maximus

The M14 was and still is, the best combat rifle made. This rifle is still being used today. Though it has been modified a little and is used as a sniper round today.
