Are their any countries in the world which have a low tech army. For example, is any country still useing bolt-action rifles for their primary infantry weapon..or using piston powered or biplanes for their primary airforce fighters?

Why do you think middle eastern folks blow themselves up?

And then they are supposedly a threat to the USA….AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    You have all been duped.

Leaders of terrorist groups LOVE that you are over there. They can target American soldiers and have more people joining them than EVER BEFORE.

sure, most of the third world countries can’t afford state of the art weaponry.

Look at Afghanistan. Most of the weapons they have, we gave to them.

The Vatican. They still use Swiss pikemen to guard the Pope.

I think North Korea might still fly some bi-planes…..but they’ve also go some decent jets, too.

Some of the African militias are pretty low-tech, too. That doesn’t mean they are not deadly…..

A number of Third World nations have low-tech military forces but they are still armed with relatively modern weapons e.g. they have semi-auto or select-fire infantry weapons, they just don’t have the latest gear or anything really sophisticated like 1990s-2000s era electronics (e.g. radar, radio, missiles etc. etc.)

As for Afghanistan, they were primarily equiped by the Soviet Union and they did have some bolt-action rifles for their militias but generally they had AKM rifles. They are still largely equipped with former Soviet Union gear (firearms, APCs, tanks etc. etc.) and so, no the USA did not give them everything they have.

As for the Vatican, the Swiss Guard have pikes for ceremonial/traditional reasons, they also come in handy for crowd control but the Swiss Guard are all former Swiss military and they are issued with weapons such as the 9mm Beretta Model 12 SMG. So no, they are not low-tech, they just don’t let the public see their more modern military equipment.

I don’t think any nation still uses biplanes for their fighter aircraft, it simply would not be worth the effort, too slow & too little load capacity. Most nations have at least 1960s era jets although the Dominican Republic did fly the F-51 Mustang until about 1984 as their primary fighter, the F-51 designation was given to the P-51 Mustang in the late 1940s when the USAAF became the USAF.
