Assault rifle and Florida gun laws?

August 14th, 2010 by eranio

I’m 18 years old and I live in Gainesville, Florida, can I legally go to the local surplus store and buy an assault rifle (M4, P90, AKs and such)??? or Do I have to be 21 in order to do that. Same question with the ammo.

I’m not planning to buy one soon, I’m just curious bout the laws.

Are there limitations on assault weapons? No
Florida – No state restriction on the sale or possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons. Assault weapons are as easy to buy as hunting rifles. Congress and President Bush allowed the federal assault weapons ban to sunset in 2004. See also: Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines "

Is a license/permit required to buy handguns? No

    GUN DEALER REGULATIONS
Must gun dealers adhere to state licensing and/or oversight systems? No

    JUVENILE SALE
Is it illegal to sell handguns to anyone under 21 years of age? No

State law does not restrict selling handguns to juveniles under the age of 21 by unlicensed sellers. Under federal law, only federally licensed dealers are prohibited from selling or delivering handguns or ammunition for handguns to any person under the age of 21. A strong state law is needed to stop unlicensed persons from selling handguns to those under the age of 21.

A local gun shop should be able to answer your question since they have to be in compliance with all the laws to sell a firearm.
If you plan to buy any firearm,I’d advise you to get it before the Nov. elections.
If the democrats win the white house and keep control of congress too, then no one will be able to buy, sell or own a firearm.
