The 4473 form only asks if you have been dishonorabley discharged from the armed forces. OTH is not the same as dishonorable so under federal law you are ok.

I want to say it depends on what the charge was……A BCD would be a no, body fat ?

It would depend on your specific circumstances. I’d strongly suggest you visit the ATF site and if you can’t find an acceptable answer to your question, contact them via their website. See link below.

After 6 months you can get your OTH upgraded to a general discharge. Good luck

I don’t know if it is an automatic disqualification, but I think it will cause problems. Most likely it will depend on the reason for the discharge.

All you can do is apply and if denied, make an appeal. If the OTH discharge was due to a felony offense, don’t bother wasting your employer’s money.

Good Luck, I won’t ask why you got the OTH discharge. I know at a fellow can make plenty of foolish mistakes that he regrets. And some times those mistakes haunt him for a lifetime. Hopefully, this won’t be one of those cases.

You will have to apply to the government ( I don’t know which department) to get the discharge changed. It depends on why you received the OTH discharge and whether you have any civilian police record. Go to your local VA office to get the proper paperwork started. Once you have the OTH discharge changed, you will be able to apply for a FFL.
