Can an ex-marine with special ops and sniper experience, own grenades and other military issued firearms?

December 2nd, 2009 by eranio

Need to know for legal reasons, my niece’s boyfriend is a wacko who served in Afghanistan, who has beat her, poured gas on her, aimed a military issued sniper rifle at her, and constantly threatens to blow up the house she lives in. So, is the weapons illegal, and if so, who do I contact when I do not know his last name. BTW, I have called 911 myself and local law enforcement doesn’t have the power to do anything just going by someone’s word. And, doubt seriously she will talk against him.
Who exactly would I call or contact about this? She is scared and confused, and I believe that she is scared to let someone know, but apparently the sheriff’s dept. already knows something because they mentioned it to me. They said that they cannot go by hearsay, with that said I understand. Isn’t there another source to contact? If, you know and would not wish to publish the information here please contact me personally at summerlin126@yahoo.com. Thanks for all your answers

No one can own that stuff… you stated "Military Issued". Can’t have it at home

    not legal

While every U.S. citizen has the right to keep and bear arms as a civil liberty the line is crossed when someone uses (aside from defense) those weapons against another person. Time to notify the authorities.

no they can not take those off base but she needs to make a complaint or I think you have to see something

it dosnt matter who you are or what you did. it is illegal to own military issued firearms and deffinatly a grenade. its not what you could do with it. what if someone steals it and uses it in a crowded mall or something.
    how would you feel?

It’s legal to own weapons exactly similar to the military weapons if it is allowed by law, but not the actual weapons. They are government property.

Nobody gets to own grenades, only the government.

Nearly all sniper rifles would be legal in general. They are
semi-automatic and the M40 is hardly more than a low
powered precision hunting rifle. The M82 would be illegal
in Cali and some places have cal .50 banned on a local level.
But I don’t think he’s waving around too much with such a stick.

The rest however is all illegal to various degrees. Including the
hand grenades. Pointing a gun at someone qualifies as assault.

i doubt he is stupid enough to have any real grenades and issue sniper rifle ,probably he has his own rifle that he has bought and some gas/smoke grenades that seem to you like explosive grenades , anyways keep reporting to 911 as domestic violence.
