Can I legally buy an AK-47 assault rifle in the United States (specifically Louisiana)?

   Most gun stores in Louisiana have or will get any one of the numerous civilian AK-47 variants (MAK-90 etc) here are some I have dealt with over the years.

   Just check with any of the local gun shops in your area. places like the big sporting goods stores usually won’t order that type of weapon for you.

   If you want a true assault weapon (selective fire) you will need a class 2 FFL, Sheriffs permit and federal tax stamp.

   First…… What do you mean by assault rifle…. Technically speaking these are fully automatic firearms and you must have a class 3 license to purchase these…..

   If you mean an AK47 type sporting rifle or AR15 sporting rifle that are semi-automatic there are no restrictions in Louisiana….

   Here are some rifles that are perfectly legal for you to own…. They are not full auto…. The WASR-10 on this page is a very popular model….. Of course you do have to have is shipped to a local gun dealer than has an FFL (Federal Firearms License)…. Then he can fill out the paperwork and have it transferred to you…..

   If you are going to get one, figure out fast if you can. Once Obama comes into office, he is going to pass a stricter ban on certain gun parts, including semi-automatic versions of automatic rifles (like the AK-47).

   As Metropol said, the definition of an "Assault Rifle" is a riffle that has an automatic (sometimes called fully automatic) action. The supposed "assault rifle" ban was actually a ban on the importation of "assault like" rifles from other countries that only had semi-automatic actions.

   I add this to Metropol’s answer because this entire assault rifle scam is just that, a huge scam put out by those people who eventually want to make it illegal for any American who is not a police officer or in the military to have access to any kind of firearm.

   When you ask yourself why anyone would want to do this, especially by devious means, it makes you wonder. Especially when every study of actual experience is that the ownership of guns and the right of honest people to carry them reduces crime and even reduces the incidence of violent crime.

   Full auto or semi-auto only? If full auto you need to find one first. Pay the $20,000 for one and pay a $200 tax stamp to the BATF. To get a semi-auto only all you need is a clean record. Fill out the 4473 and wait for them to complete the phone call. You can walk out of the store same day. Besides waiting periodes are useless.

   you can buy in las vegas and later take it there ,in las vegas you can buy even a tank lol ,my bf and I went to the store and they were selling a huge machine gun lol ,but baby why are you going to buy something like that ,let that thing for others lol

   As long as it is Semi Auto only. As for an actual select fire AK, very few are out there. Those who do own them aren’t selling and if they are, expect to pay thousands.

   yes you can buy an ak-47 but it will have to be semi-automatic unless your a federal arms dealer then in that case you can buy any gun you want
