Can Military Police Carry Weapons?

March 4th, 2010 by eranio

I’m about to enlist in the Florida National Guard as a Military Police. And I was wondering what the laws were in Florida regarding Military Police carrying weapons wile not on military duty (or as a civilian). Due to the fact their military law enforcement just like local law enforcement they receive training.

NO you will need the FLA CCW permit to carry off duty.

You will have to apply for a permit just like everyother ordinary citizen. MP’s (not assigned to CID teams) do not have the privelage of off duty carry.

Only when authorized while on duty.

Civilian law applies in the States if not a battle function. Local quals are required.

Normal MPs only get issued their weapons while they are on duty. Off duty, they are just the same as any other servicemember.

I don’t even know if national guard MPs get weapons?
