Lets look at facts.
Switzerland has 2 million publically owned fire arms.
600,000 of which are assult rifles.
500,00 pistols.
every man between 21 and 32 years of age is given a M-57 assult rifle and ammo to keep at home. The Swiss government sells there old military rifles to civilians. The Swiss can boast one of the lowest crime rates in the world and in history. So why is violent crime so rare there and very dominant in countrys with many more gun laws. Gun laws work when it is required to own a gun!!! my source is the BBC if any body is wondering

That’s exactly what I thought. People want to blame an American "gun culture" but most of those students at VA didn’t own guns! If everyone had a gun, the crazy loser would’ve met his demise a Lot sooner!

It is illegal to have firearms on Virginia Tech campus. How did that prevent this tragedy? (See VT policy on link below.)
Maybe if the campus police or even a student or 2 were armed, lives could have been saved.

Gun laws are bandaid and a feel good solution. There have been more people arrested under the strict gun laws that are otherwise law-abiding citizens than criminals the laws were intended for.

Gun laws only prevent law abiding people from defending themselves. Criminals will always find a way to obtain a weapon.
For those who talk about accidental shootings, I present to you an argument a girl in one of my classes stated. "What if a father was cleaning his gun, he accidentally left it out on his bed to answer the door, his son saw it as a opportunity to play with it and shot himself or his brother with it?"
I say this
1. Why was there ammunition where the child could get it, since you don’t leave a gun loaded to clean it?
2. Isn’t it the father’s responcibility not to leave it where his children can get to it, not the governments?
3. If he had taught his kids how to handle a gun safely, couldn’t this accident been easily prevented?
Kids as recent as the mid 1900′s were taught to hunt at young ages by the fathers. It wasn’t until recently that accidental shooting of children insidents have exculated. Shouldn’t this be a lesson we should all learn from.
I personally do not own a gun, nor do I plan on owning one in my lifetime, but I will never look to prevent those who wish to own one and learn how to use it legally. If you want to get guns off the streets, start with the parents, not the gun stores.

Guns should be widely available to all law-abiding citizens for the purpose of self-defense. There’s no greater weapon and no better deterrent to crime. It’s ridiculous to think that banning firearms would make them less available to those who are determined to acquire one. If that were the case, then there would be no illegal narcotics in this country. Put a gun into every household in America and train the family living there to use it safely and crime would plummet. Criminals would be so much less likely to enter a home to rob or hurt people if there was a high likelihood of the people living there being able to defend themselves.
Gun laws would not have prevented the killer in the VT tragedy from acquiring a weapon. If he was determined enough to actually perpetrate this heinous crime, he would have found a way to purchase one on the black market, the same way a dope fiend can always find their next blast.

Rid a country of weapons and only criminals will have them.

If guns kill, then matches cause arson, women cause rape, cars cause DUI, pencils cause misspelling and children are responsible for being molested.
