Do you think the laws of buying guns in america will change?

March 10th, 2010 by eranio

Almost anyone can get a gun these days. I think the only people that should be carrying guns are people licensed to have them such as police officers and men and woman of the military, some people use them for protection, but i think that law should change also because we can come up with a better solution to protect ourselves. Putting a gun in anyone hands is bound for another massacre, and it will happen again if america doesn’t do anything about it. What do you think?

No. But there should be stricter gun laws.

Your heart is in the right place, unfortunately guns are unexplicably avaliable in the U.S. And its not just the legal firearms but the illegal ones as well. People feel that they need to protect themselves and the only way to do that is unfortunately to fight fire with fire. I also think there should be stronger laws in place, such as a clear bill of mental health from a qualified psychiatrist not just a check from a computer system. But first something needs to be done about all the unregistered weapons and stolen guns that we have floating around.

Well, see, the problem there is….if you take our right to bear arms away, you only keep us unprotected! Stopping people from buying guns will only allow the criminals to kill more unarmed people. There will always be a ‘black market’ for guns. The drug dealers, gang members, already convicted felons, they all get guns somewhere already….that wont stop if the laws change! It will only leave us unprotected.

Oh, you mean like putting anyone behind the wheel of a car is bound to cause accidents?

    Let’s ban automobiles too, then.

Don’t bother to place responsibility on those that commit the crimes. Why not punish law abiding citizens as well?

yes laws will change next year when the liberals run the country….as far as anyone can get a gun , maybe but it would have to be like hot mom said…the black market kind. laws for getting guns legally now are tight and will only get tighter

The law itself is not what prevents the ILLEGAL distribution of guns. The fact that almost anyone can get one is a reflection of the black market trade of these items. Very much not like the laws against certain drugs cannot prevent their widespread distribution.
The issue in my mind is the use of prohibition as a legal tool. It has been well documented, and is now evident that prohibition leads to the rise and development of underground markets, which in turn are much more difficult for the government to control. Basically if there weren’t as many regulations on the sale of guns then there wouldn’t be a black market for them.
Here’s the key, will fewer guns make this society safer? I do not think so. The great bulk of the violence that occurs in our society is a by product the well entrenched underground market for the very products our laws are trying to "protect" us from.
Enlightenment and reason are our keys to salvation, not laws that are not born from these principles.

I look at it this way, if you take away the guns from the law abiding citizens, it is only opening us up to more problems down the road. There are millions of guns in homes already, there is no way EVERYONE would turn in their guns if a ban was imposed. Only the law abiding citizens. That means, the criminals would still be on the loose with firearms and we will all be unarmed when they do attack. It is not the guns fault, it is the crazy people that get them in their possession. Even if they were able to get all the guns, we would still have devastation’s as this, people would just move on to other forms of destruction. Bombs for example, that probably would have killed a lot more. I think stricter policies for buying guns is a better idea, but not baning them.

Lets hope they do! some states don’t even let you get a concealed carry permit for crying out loud!
States like Va. were I am have less per capita gun crimes then states that heavily restrict guns, the reason is clear, armed citizens are not easy prey for criminals.

The constitution provides for us the right to bare arms, for good reason. This was put into law to keep the power in the hands of the citizens incase the government should ever get out of control, like it is now, we can fight back. Also to alow citizens to defend themselves from criminals, because the government cannot always do so, nor should they, they are our governors, not our saviours.

Criminals will always have guns, nothing is ever 100%. Taking the only defence away from citizens would be leading us all to the slaughter, it is also a criminal violation of our constitutional rights, to many people today seem to forget that humans were killing each other just fine LONG before guns came into being.

Stop blaming the inanimate objects and start holding the people and society responsible, for there actions.

Guns are NOT bad, PEOPLE are bad, remember that before you try to disarm us, which will fail with much bloodshed btw.

Brains, use them, or lose them……….

I truly hope that we do not ever start down the slippery slope of disassembling our Constitution.

A gun ban will only affect the "law abiding" citizens. Criminals who don’t respect the law will still find access to guns. There are plenty of legal things to do with guns.

I believe they will change time and time again. With all the slayings in the world by firearm… there will always be some way to make the laws for better or worst. Gun control is a hard one to respond to. Whenever masses of people are killed… there is this world outcry. However… when a person is gunned down in the street in a dope deal… maybe that person deserved it. ( This is not my opinion.. believe me)
The Brady Law was supposed to take some of the burden off but the NRA has other plans. The right to bear arms…. well… no comment.
