Have you noticed how certain countries parade around their military weapons?
This is something I started to notice recently, how certain countries parade around and show off their military weapons as if they were the focal point of their national pride.
Examples include Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, where they have these massive parades with soldiers in uniform marching along side tanks, and missiles, and some kind of weaponry. Most of these countries also tend to do something similar to a "goose-walk".
The only thing I could think of that is like that in the U.S. would be the Blue Angels that fly at Miramar, but that’s more of a local thing than a national thing, and it’s also more of a sporting event than a nationalism thing (you have to pay to attend). Even so, the jets aren’t armed with missiles or doing dog fights….

You’re right but wrong on at least one important count. The Blue Angels perform all over the country and the show is free unless you want to sit on chairs in shaded areas. If all you want to do is spread a blanket on the tarmac then its free. And yes you’re right some countries do parade their military might. And you’re right about the reason, it is the only thing they can take pride in. Their economies are in the crapper and the people have no freedoms. Good luck to you

Yes, I’ve noticed since I was in pampers.

Yes, you are correct. Some militaries are flaunted by the existing government to rally the support and trust of the people. When you see your nation’s leader owns a lot of cannons, and can make mere men into heroes with guns and uniforms, you tend to acquiesce to the leader.

Have you also noticed that we don’t parade our weapons around, but use them to invade any country that doesn’t agree with us ?
I think almost all nations would rather see us just parade our weapons than our present attitude.

There are both a show of pride in the military and a symbol of the power of the country’s power to squash possible rebellion. In addition, these videos of these parades are given to international media outlets to basically provide propaganda. You have to remember too that most of these government use their military force to control their own people. I would not want to see this country do the same thing.

The Blue Angels is entertainment too, whereas these military parades in other countries appear to put off an intimidating stance.

Over the years I’ve observed the same thing, it’s a psychological means of attempting to show their particular nation that they are protected by a great military or military muscle. However it’s laughable to me, you’ll never see military grade weapons being driven down the street in your neighborhood in parade fashion. The average American already knows that our country is protected by a great military, not to mention that nearly all of our weaponry is on display via google.com. I believe it to be amusing because we tend to parade our military muscle over the air space, through the coastal ways, and on the ground of our enemies.

Russia doesn’t do that anymore.
Blue Angels are entertainment and recruiting, not intimidation.
I’ve met them. They’re not intimidating.
