How come the Canadian or American military does us the AK-47?

It seems to be one of the best or the best assault rifles in the world. Its reliability is legendary and power, not sure about the accuracy ? How come we dont, or do we?
Sorry folks, I ment to say does not

We do for training, and some SOF missions. But it’s not nearly as accurate, lethal, or light as the M16 series.
(If the ‘lethal’ part confuses you, go check out ‘ballistics gel’ studies of 7.62 vs 5.56)

because we are not Russians …and have you ever try to carry 250 rounds of 7.62 plus all your gear ..?
check this video its pretty simple explanation

ADD to mike: M4 its 5.9 lb empty and the AK 9.5 lb empty ,probably your M4 its heavier with Acog and the other stuff you got there, and yes you are right its made by different countries due its cheap and easy to make but still is a Kalashnikov ( Russian desing)

out guns are made for accuracy, the AK-47 is all about getting a lot of bullets down range, so the answer is because one well place bullet is better than a bunch that miss

It was invented in Russia during the Cold War, that alone disqualified it. American small arms doctrine called for accurate fire, and at the time of the introduction of the AK-47 and the first other intermediate power rifles, rejected anything less than a full size rifle cartridge as inadequate in power. And no, the AK is not accurate compared to any of its contemporary American designs, such as the M1, the M14, and the M16.

CAUSE ITS A SHITY WEAPON, DONT LET HOLLYWOOD FOOL YA. IT WORKS GOOD BUT HAS A HORRIBLE RECOIL AND ISNT AS ACCURATE AS AN M16/M4. IT SEEMS LIKE ONE OF THE BEST BECAUSE SO MANY COUNTRIES USE THEM, THEY USE THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAP! NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST

Because it’s a savage rifle, very unaccurate and made for fools who want to spray bullets everywhere and intimidate others. The AR-15 , M16, and M4 are better rifles for military.

American soldiers use the m-16
although AK’s have great power
the m-16 is much easier to get around with and much more accurate
from what i know

The Ak47 and the m4-m16 series are different. The ak47 is designed to be more like a machine gun while the m4s and m16s are designed to be more like rifles.

Our equivalent to the AK-47 is the M249. As someone described it, it has a lot of power and it gets the rounds in a general area. But if you’ve ever seen the slow motion videos of the comparison of an M16 to the AK, you will see why we use the M16.
If you haven’t, the AKs entire body bends and curves while firing, even in bursts. Sure, it’s powerful but when you can’t hit the guy you need to hit, well… it’s not very effective.
I’m not sure about the AKs round manipulation, but an M16 bullet tumbles. When it enters a body, it bumps around inside and can cause a lot of damage. There has been stories of a bullet hitting an insurgent in a leg and exiting through the back and such.
So the M16 has just as much killing power as an AK. Just a lot more accuracy and (from what I remember) it’s also cheaper. Just got an M249 for our power and spread.

umm… any of you actually use an ak? 1st, they aren’t all russian made. Not sure its weight off the top of my head, but I remember it being alot lighter than my m4. 3rd, it was pretty accurate when I shot with it on semi. loading the magazine for them takes some getting use to though and eventually the 762 rounds will outweigh your 556.

There are many good good reasons.
Firstly, what you think is the AK-47 is the AKM. The AK-47 was a piece of garbage that lead to the AKM, which looks the same but is a much superior weapon. The AKM is the gun you see in the movies, its the gun that was used in Vietnam, and its the gun that has been proliferated around the world.
There is also a modern version of the AKM, the AK-74, which is an ATTEMPT to fix the problems with the AKM and make it comparible to the M16, but it loses pretty solidly in all categories. The 74 round is an attempt to copy the performance of the 5.56, but it fails to match it.
Secondly, the AK series is not that reliable, testing shows that even the AK-74 has a higher rate of stoppages per rounds fired than ANY M16 variant, even the originals.
The 5.56 round fired from the M16 is only slightly less powerful than the 7.62 round, but because of the hugely superior design of the M16, the recoil and barrel climb is far superior to any AK.
Like someone else said, the quality of the AK series is low enough that you can see the barrel bending when viewed on slow motion.
The reason we dont use the AK is because it is probably one of the worst weapons out there. There is a whole list of weapons ahead of the AK, some of them are even more powerful than the AK and more accurate than the M16, like the FAL. There is the M14, which is comparable to the FAL but harder to aim, but they are both superior to the AK in every way.
