They can hold a rifle, aim it, and fire it. Can’t they?

If you have a problem with why women aren’t on the front lines then write your Congressman. The Department of Defense has no say whether or not a woman can go into a direct combat job like infantry. But women have been in sutuations where they were under fire. Google Monica Lin Brown to see what I mean.

UM they are in combat, I knew alot even back in 1990 and 91 from the Gulf War. And have you heard of Jessica Lynch durring this whole Iraqi Campaign or whatever you want to call it.
The biggest problem though comes from their special needs IE female 28 day cycle.

Numerous reasons.
A couple:
A women NEED showers, Men don’t. If women go a long time without washing down there, they can get infections and cause a huge problem. Infantry tends to spend long periods in the field no where near a sanitary shower.
The menstrual cycle could lead the enemy right to the units with women in it if the enemy is using tracking dogs.

The word "combat" has been clouded after Iraq. There are no front lines, or troop movements, only policing action, which women are a part of. And many have been killed.

there are a couple reason women don’t serve in the infantry.
,
1. upper body strength, despite exceptions, most women can’t carry a ruck weighing 200 pounds (a real infantry ruck not the basic training 35 pound crap)
2. the "European male syndrome" American males are taught to protect women, so if your in a firefight, and a women gets shot, 2 guys will run over to help her. that means two weapons are not firing at the enemy. I have seen it in PLDC, guys running over to help the female put on her ruck.
plus as mentioned a women has a cycle, and in many mech units they go out in the field for 30 days at a time.
the Jessica Lynch story was a big lie. she said it herself, but she was used as propaganda. she was captured as a prisoner (she couldn’t read a map and went the wrong way) she admitted that when the iraqis came, she threw down her weapon and started crying. there was another female with her that fired her weapon, and was captured also, but she was shoved to the side (she was a black female)

I personally have no problem with women serving in the military and in combat units. The U.S. government allows women to serve in the military do to the equal rights movement, but women are not allowed to serve in combat roles in any of the armed services. Women can serve overseas and in various different MOS or AFSC (jobs) but cannot be in a direct combat role. Currently female soldiers search female Iraqis at check points which is still dangerous. The pentagon prohibits females from serving in frontline combat units such as infantry, armor, or artillery. They are usually assigned to support units such as logistics or transportation. There have been numerous casualties of women do to roadside bombs or convoys coming under fire.

So far, not a single knowledgeable person has answered your question. Woman have served in combat roles for several years now. They are just as good at it as any male.
How do I know? They served with me and are serving with my son as I type. Capisce?

Women ARE trained to use weapons. And American military women ARE in combat. Since there are no ‘front lines’ in Iraq, every U.S. military woman is ready to go into combat…and have been in combat; wounded, maimed, killed.
Where have YOU been?
