How do I Sell Rifles & Transport a Handgun?
I inherited 2 rifles (a single and double barrel) and a hand gun from my father, when he passed away.
The story about them, as I understand it, goes like this:
A friend of his, was diagnosed with Cancer and did not want the rifles around, so he gave them to my father to "hold onto" for him. When he died, my father tried to give the rifles back to his son, who did not want anything to do with them and said keep them. That was almost 2 years ago.
The only documentation I have is some papers from the military that discharges the two rifles to my dad’s friend, years and years ago.
Now, I’ve got them and will be moving from California to Pennsylvania in about two weeks. What should I do with the rifles? Can I sell them? Pawn them?
Now, there is also a handgun that was my father’s. I want to keep that, and take it with me. Is there anything I need to do ahead of time or do I just take it with me when I drive cross-country?
Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Just pack them in a lock case unloaded away from ammunition and you will be fine traveling with them. Personally I wouldn’t even worry about keeping the paperwork; they are yours now
PA is one of the most gun friendly states in the country. No need to register or get a permit to own them either. If you want to carry it, a concealed carry permit is very easy to get in the majority of counties.
gobobgo55 you are wrong. In some states private sales must go through an FFL, no exceptions. Please know what you are talking about before you give people advice about guns.

do not take a non registered handgun across state lines. i do not know the laws about long guns in your state. call the nra in your area and ask them, trust me they know the law.

Check the laws in Pa. If you are legal in Cal and would be legal in Pa., you can transport firearms across the country. Cal has many firearm restrictions. If they can legally be sold, sell them if you wish. If not, take them with you cause the laws in Pa. would make it easier.

Go to hkpro.com., weaponsforum.com. There are several other forums to find the information you are looking for. Also atf.gov will give you the legal aspects of transporting.

you can transport most any gun if it is locked in a box away from the ammunition. Some states owning a hand gun is illegal check with PA. state police. The sell of any gun person to person is legal but selling to a felon is not. you can pawn them you have to prove who you are. If you live in Calif. you must by law register the hand gun, it is at least a gross misdemeanor 1yr. $10,000 fine
