To do so you have to do many step.
1. Be Qualified for Professional Engineering, according to U.S regulation and requirement.
2. Be Specialized in Millitery Engineering, After passing out there Required Test.
3. You must have U.S Cityzen ship, nationality, If U.S required.
4. Some Other Requerment can be you can found by searching
U.S Government web Site on this Topic. Search by Key Words
in Search Engine Like Yahoo Search.

Do you mean an Armorer? If so, you can choose that as an enlistment option. I think it’s called a Smalls Arms Repair or armorer.

For serious work in the field, a degree in a suitable field of engineering would be helpful.

What is that? Never heard of it. You can be Bomb Disposal or Ordnance or you can be trained in weapons delivery. But Weapons Engineer sounds more like development stage.

Do you mean like work for DARPA or any of the arms manufacturers, or working on the enlisted side? Clarify please.
