I am talking about off duty, or on duty. If you are in a uniform or traveling are you allowed to carry a personal handgun?

I don’t know why all these people think you can’t, but being a soldier DOES give you the right to carry a weapon. You are still not allowed to carry anywhere a normal civilian with a concealed carry permit could, unless you are official orders, and you have to be on duty to have the ability.

Being in the military grants you know more right or restriction to carry a fire arm than any other American Citizen. Know the laws of the state in which you serve!

You are no different than any other US citizen. If you have a concealed carry permit (CCW), issued by a state, you can carry the same as any other licensed person except while in uniform and on military (federal) property.
But being able to carry a CCW just because you are in the military?..NO

i once herd a friend in the marines say he could carry it but if he were to carry it to a place like a church or movie theater or concert and it caused panic he would be in deep shit when he got back to base. id say avoid the trouble but its ur right after all.

You do not have a special privilege when it comes to carrying a firearm. You fall under the same laws and restrictions as every other American citizen.

In uniform or on duty ABSOLUTELY NO privately owned weapons. There’s lots of limits on when and where you can carry even military weapons, on duty.
If you live on base, you have to store it in the Arms room and check it out if you want to go shooting. If you live off base, you can store your private weapons in your house as long as they are secured.
There’s a lot more limits on military personnel as far as weapons. It may seem strange, but there’s a lot of legal limits on the military, in order to protect the freedom of civilians.
