In what European countries are guns legal?

March 7th, 2010 by eranio

All I know is Switzerland and Ireland; are they any others?

I know they are banned in the UK (thankfully; only the military and the government should have guns)
In late 2007 the European Union lawmakers adopted a legislative report to tighten gun control laws and establish an extensive firearms database. Passed with overwhelming backing, the tough new gun control rules were "hoped to prevent Europe from becoming a gun-friendly culture like the United States".

Erm, there are LOTS of people in the UK with weapons..
To your question: the EU is continually working to restrict weapon ownership.

"…only the military and the government should have guns…"

    Sigh.

Did you know that in the US last year Americans bought more guns than there are people in the top 21 national standing armies put together?

It makes me feel safer. Sorry for your loss.

Actually I think the UK would be ok with guns, they seem to be alittle more mature and restrained then Americans.

In Switzerland, Sweden, Albania, and Macedonia it is required to own a gun by law. They are also legal in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Italy, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland. Mainly France, Spain, Britain, and the Netherlands oppose guns. In fact in most countries you can buy machine gun with no tax stamp. In America you can but a fully automatic weapon requires a $200 tax stamp for a used one and a $1000 tax stamp for a new one. Basically its a tax on machine guns.
