The short answer is yes, the long answer is no.

In the USA, small arms such as pistols, shotguns and rifles can all be legally purchased by anyone with an FFL (Federal Firearms License.) The FFL is really only needed for an automatic weapon such as the M249 SAW (Squad automatic Weapon) and the M-16.

Older, obsolete weapons can be purchased legally with the caveat of not having an explosive component. i.e. panzerfausts, grenades, mines, etc.

Any weapon that is designed with an actual explosive (Mortar rounds and M203 Grenades) will be unavailable for purchase. You can obtain "Cutaways" and inert rounds though.

Finally, most weapons that are designed as less than lethal can only be purchased by civilian authorities such as police departments.

You can get the older ones, like the M1. Or you can get civilian versions of newer weapons, like the AR15 series. There are some, like the Mossberg M590 shotgun, that you can buy that is exactly the same as the one issued.

Used weapons are availabel through military surplus stores and second hand gun shops. They have been altered so they can’t fire automatic anymore, and the barrels are normally worn and no longer accurate.
