Is the l96 airsoft sniper rifle any good?

February 27th, 2010 by eranio

Well I see this airsoft sniper rifle for only 100, very high fps, seems pretty accurate, and range is 200-250 feet which is probably very good.
Is it good?
Is there any sniper rifles better for the price? Thanks.

you are reffering to the UTG L96 correct? well if thats the case then yes, this is an excellent airsoft sniper, out performing alot of guns. Only flaws to it are the plastic lower reciever, and not all the internals are metal (needs upgrade) but other than tht itss a great gun. Bad part about it though, is that almost 50% of airsoft snipers have some sort of L96. If you want an alternative the A&K SVD is a great gun along with the VSR-10

Extending the answer above is the JG BAR-10 sniper rifle. Its a clone of the TM VSR-10 but is actually a clone thats been very well done. You can buy them for ~$120 new and upgrades are pretty common. Out of the box theyre no better than a single shot AEG but sniping is the most expensive role in airsoft simply for the cost of making a sniper rifle into exactly that, a gun capable of outranging AEGs in combat.

There is no good sniper rifle for a cheap price.
No sniper stock rifle, especially a 100$ L96 will get more than 150 feet of range. You will need to do a full internal upgrade to do this. This includes:
    Spring Guide
    Spring
    Piston
    Sears/Trigger mechanism
    Bucking
    Hop-up unit
    Barrel

You will get better range with a JG m4 than you will with a stock UTG/AGM L96.

From most of the reviews that i’ve seen it’s pretty good.

Yes, it is pretty good! Although for about 50 dollars less you can get the M234 which is only a little bit less range than that (10-20 feet) and is smaller. Or you can buy the JG Bar-10 which you can buy upgrage parts for it from a third company and it can shoot better than the L96
