Is the scar h an assault rifle or battle rifle?

Is it a assault or battle rifle. I am confused because the ak47 uses heavy ammo but it is considered an assault rifle. Plus, does the scar h have a lot of recoil?

You’re talking semantics here, and frankly, the words "assault rifle" make you sound like a liberal trolling in the wrong category. Just the same…

I’m on the waiting list for one, which is supposed to arrive in the next few months. To date, I have only handled/fired the SCAR-L, which is the 5.56 version. It’s very slick, light and accurate. Comparable to every other 5.56 I’ve fired, in terms of recoil. Which is to say… it’s a pussy cat.

7.62 x 51 is substantially more potent than the 7.62 x 39 that the standard AK fires. The G3 and FAL use this round, as well as the AR-10 and more modern variants on Stoner’s platform. In terms of American military firearms, the M14/M1A are chambered in this round.

Needless to say, the recoil is substantial, and I defy you to find so much as an account of someone able to control a 7.62 NATO weapon under sustained rapid fire. It’s certainly less potent than any of the primary rifles used in WWII, but in a platform as light as the SCAR, it’s not a cartridge that you can spray full auto and hope to come anywhere near you’re intended point of impact.

Ahhh. Modern Warfare 2, right? I consider it a assault rifle and i don’t believe it has a lot of recoil.

its an assault rifle, it fires an intermediate round

and since when is 7.62×39 heavy? if that’s what you call heavy ammo i’d love to see what you thought about 7.62x54r!

It’s an automatic rifle. Assault rifle is a word for Hollywood and Washington.

Considering the SCAR’s price point in the face of more popular competition, I’m gonna guess not a lot of people here have the experience with one to talk about the recoil. I certainly can’t.

    An AK47 uses an intermediate power cartridge. 7.62 does not equal 7.62 when we’re talking about chamberings. There’s 7.62x51mm, 7.62x54mm, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x25mm, 7.62x45mm, 7.62x63mm…. They’re not the same thing.

A true select-fire AK47 does meet the definition of assault rifle. It is a defined term. Select fire, intermediate cartridge (in the case of an AK47, 7.62x39mm), detachable magazine.

The SCAR-H fires 7.62x51mm NATO, which is a full-power rifle cartridge. It would be best described as an automatic rifle, if it has select-fire capabilities. If it is semi-automatic only, then it would be considered a battle rifle.

There are exceptions to these terms…. they’re just general guide lines, and don’t really mean much of anything, other than to give someone a general idea of the basic features of a weapon.
