Is the SVD sniper rifle considered a low capacity firearm?
In the state of Massachusetts, it takes the 7.62x54mmR round the same as the Mosin Nagants. Also is it worth getting one of these rifles?
Well what about the SVD Tigr hunting rifle I heard it was a lot more accurate then the military surplus rilfes.

The largest magazine only holds 10 rounds so yes. It is worth getting a real Russian or Chinese SVD, but they are expensive. The cheaper Romanian knock offs are not as good and are prone to overheating and jamming. Even the Romanian rifles can still be a lot of fun at the range though.

I’ve never seen anything bigger than a 10 round mag for it but i’ve never really looked and i don’t know your state laws and what combinations of "evil" features are allowed.
Also, just a heads up….there are a VERY small number of SVDs in the US. 9 out of 10 people selling "SVDs" are more than likely just jacking up the price of a Romanian PSL which is worth about $1000. Do you homework before you buy.

"SVD-type" rifles are magazine-fed. Therefore high or low capacity depends on the magazine that you will be using – 5 rounds is low cap, 5-9 rounds is high cap for hunting, 10+ rounds is high cap by all legal standards.
An actual SVD rifle is worth getting. But a real SVD rifle (Russian/Chinese/Bulgarian, milled receiver, 26" barrel, long flash hider) is hard to come by and start around $2,500. If you are talking about the Romanian-made copy, well… The stamped receiver is sufficiently reinforced to handle the large caliber, but it is not as accurate as the true SVD. It will work for most of your mid-range hunting purposes, but it’s no SVD.
A better alternative would be a Robinson Armament "Super VEPR .308" here is the link

Robinson SN# 30001, price is $849.99 according to their 21 April 2003 price list, which was still current as of 10 April 2008.
Good luck
