Is there a less crazy alternative to the NRA?
I’m looking for a less gung-ho and money-hungry organization that preferably focuses more on C&R weapons, for I focus on older Russian military firearms, such as the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 and it’s many variants. A group that doesn’t involve it’s self much in politics would be nice as well. Any suggestions?
By the way, I’m stuck in California, so no state-specific ones, please.

So, you want a way less effective organization to preserve your second amendment rights?
Why?
It makes no sense at all.
If you like to collect firearms, and would like to continue to do so, you need to belong to an organization that protects your right to keep and bear arms. For any organization that has these primary goals, it is vitally important for it to be involved in politics. I am not going to explain why this is the case because anyone with an ounce of common sense should be able to figure it out. Also, fighting this good fight costs MONEY. This should also be self evident.
Seriously, why not join for a year and try it out?

Gun control and politics are inseparable, so the NRA is the best ally of the 2nd Ammendment, regardless of what you think of them.

It sounds as though you are looking for a hobby club, rather than an organization to defend your rights.
If you’re looking for a group that isn’t involved with politics it sounds like you’re looking for a hobby club. The NRA has matches, and other member events but the sole purpose of the NRA is to protect our second amendment rights. If I lived in California i’d definitely support the NRA you guys are close to losing your 2nd amendment rights.
