Let’s see if I have this right, Jesus rifles in the military bad, openly gay solders good?
We were told just last month how bad it was for US military to be using rifles with Biblical references stamped on them. It seems our enemies might get offended. So are we now to believe that having openly gay service people will be more acceptable to the Muslim fundamentalist?

LOL…didn’t you know that up is down, and down is up?
I say YES, let the queers openly serve, put ‘em on the frontlines and see what happens.
Can you imagine a gay being taken prisoner by muslims??? Ooooooh honey! Do you think the muslims will be tolerant and politcally correct???
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Let the games begin!

Freedom of religion. There is no reason at all for idiots to try to force religion on to everyone.
I’d rather gays be open in the Military then have rifles with stupid religious crap.

As an old school soldier, i am very confused about this and don’t understand this how this could be a topic of problems in our military. This just isn’t the time for this topic. But i think if they do allow it,they should have separate barracks because you cant have it both ways. You simply cant ask parents of 17 year old kids to get over it,that’s not going to happen without a few clauses.

They weren’t even on the rifles themselves. The Bible references are on scopes that have been in service for decades and no one has noticed until now. Here we are close to a decade into a current war with two fronts and we just barely notice it.
BTW, the references look like this: 2COR4:6 and JN8:12. You probably mistook them for part of a model number or something. This is a tempest in a teapot. Nobody is forcing any religion on anyone. You probably didn’t even notice it was there, and if you did would likely be confused as to what it even means.

Alright: Bible versus on a scope of a US weapon in the hands of an enemy solder who happens to be muslim is bad. It sends the message that this is a religious war, something that it is not and has never been.
Having someone serve openly in the military doesn’t send any message. If that Gay person gets captured, he is ONLY required to give Name, rank, and social. Doesn’t have to mention sexual orientation. In fact, they recommend married soldiers, or soldiers with children not mention them at all as they can be used against you.
If they allow gays to serve openly, it’s not like you’ll hear "It’s raining men" from the Post’s PA system, nor will anyone make adjustments to their uniform so their "flamboyancy" can shine through. These soldiers who will be allowed to serve openly are still professional soldiers who have personal lives that, like married folks, stay at home. The only thing that will change if this passes, is that they will stop kicking people out, people who have skills we need can come in, and commanders no longer have to waste time by trying to "witch hunt" people because someone is trying to get revenge by saying you are gay.
As far as enemy soldiers . . . who cares anyway. We don’t want them thinking it’s a religious war, because its not. But I have no qualms having them think that one day a gay American might kill them. In fact, just thinking that it may cause them some discomfort in thinking that brings a smile to my face.
