marine question-anyone who had experience with optics on their weapons in the military/question please answer!

August 24th, 2010 by eranio

i saw a video of a marine on the news

he had an M249 with an ACOG 4x scope

my question is, how do you get optics in the marines/military?

do you have to qualify for the optic? or can you just take it from an armory(or wherever u get the optic from)

also leading to another question

when a soldier is deployed..how does he get optics for his rifle?(red dot, laser sights all that good stuff, etc)

can he just take it?
btw guys, i really mean he had an M249..not an M16, i made no mistake..he had an M249 SAW with an ACOG sight and a vertical grip

If you are going to be using an optic, Generally you will have to qualify on it first. You get them when they are issued to you, you don’t bring your own.
