Privately owned firearms in the military in relation to local gun laws?

November 14th, 2009 by eranio

Say if I was to buy an AK-47 with a 30 round magazine if I was originally stationed in Georgia where it’s legal to own one, would I have to relinquish it if I was transferred to California?

You still have to follow all local, state, and federal laws while in the military. This goes for guns too.

my husband has always owned AKA’s he kept them in a storage unit while he was in the barrakcs until he marrie d me and moved into my house and keeps them in my house now. Can’t say if this is legal or not, I know that when he tried to alter them to shoot like an M60, he needed a permit for them.
