Question on military firearms?
Is the M4/M16 louder than the AK-47 due to the higher gas pressure and because of the higher pitched sharper crack vs the lower pitch not as sharp crack of the AK-47? I was told that the 5.56X45 is slightly louder than the 7.62X39 but not by much. But other people tell me the AK is louder so dunno.
How much louder is the 7.62X51/.308 over the 5.56/.223/7.62X39? Is it by a lot or just by a little bit?
I heard the MK-19 is not that loud. But can it still damage your hearing or no?
How loud is the AT-4, the javelin and the RPG-7?

The 16 and the AK are both just plain loud. They do have a little different sound from a distance though.
The AT-4 is ear-ringing loud, but seriously who cares when you’re shooting into a mud building filled with taliban?
I mean honestly, who cares how loud something is when you’re in a firefight? Lol..

The sound of a bullet is how fast it’s able to escape the muzzle. Faster bullet bullets tend to be louder out a a small bore rifle. 5.56×45 is usually traveling 3,100 fps to 2,900 fps. The 7.62X39 is around 2,100 fps. There are other factor involved such as the muzzle breaks can dissipate the sound even more. MK-19 has a very loud bass sound because of the wider bore.
