Questions About Private Military Companies?
How is it that Blackwater Worldwide and other private military companies (PMCs) can acquire their heavy weaponry? Do they just inform the ATF that they will be purchasing x-number of M-4s so it does not look sleezy? Do they register as a firearms dealer? Does the company have to be registered in a state where full-auto weapons are legal?
Does Blackwater Worldwide or other PMCs use explosives such as hand grenades? If so, how is it that they can use them?

Yes they can use them and it is because they have a contract with the government where they are allowed to use that kind of weaponry.
Citizens can have an automatic weapon, high calibers too. However, you have to get a permit from the ATF and there are serious restrictions.
The ATF has tracking numbers for every piece of "military" equipment "PMC’s" have. When they are used (grenades), a report of where and when they were used is issued by the company to keep track of the items.
No, YOU can not buy grenades.

Anyone is allowed to buy automatic weapons, as long as they have a ATF Type lll firearms license.

Blackwater contractors and other security firms get their weapons from many sources, but not the US government. Some of the weapons might have come from straw purchases. Others could of came from transactions made outside of the US from foreign arms dealers. Blackwater for example is also a training institution. They are allowed to have a reasonable amount of weapon types to train law enforcement and foreign military personnel. But exactly how most of these companies obtain weapons is pretty much a trade secret. As far as explosives go, I have never seen a contractor with explosives, but they might have them. And no, the ATF does not have tracking information for all the weapons used by private contractors.
