Should the US military get a new primary assault rifle?

To me the m4 seems like not to good of a gun. What do you guys/girls think? It almost seems that the m16 was better than the m4.

the m4 is a good carbine, and it beats the hell out of the m16. 99% of our operations over there are in urban terrain, with the m4 you can move through a doorway with it up and ready, with an m16 you need to keep it down until your in the room already just because of its size.
i think the military is currently looking into the SCAR, which is a pretty bad ass weapon. IMO though they should go with SOCOM IIs, they’re easy to modify so they have as little kick (if not less) than an m4, its a larger round (which has its plusses and minuses. it wont be as effective against body armor but it will pack a bigger punch), and they’re more accurate. close to the same size too, which is crucial if your in a vehicle or moving room to room.

Yes they need a new rifle and pistol. The M16 and the M4 should be replace with a rifle that utilizes a guide rod to increase its reliability. H&K and Sig both have good models. As far as pistol a 1911a1 .45 acp still beats anything else that is being used
