At the U.S. Government´s request, Smith Corona suspends typewriter production to make rifles for the war effort. (That comes from the Smith Corona website’s History page).

Sadly, I’ve found little other information in a QUICK search… but I have emailed Smith Corona for more information !!

UPDATE: M1903A3 Springfield was manufactured on license by Smith-Corona from Dec 1942 through Feb 1944.

    The M1903A3 chambers the: Cartridge .30-06 Springfield (7.62 Ă— 63 mm).

Easy to find at any Gun Shop. And it would be legal to fire in MOST countries… and all US States: it is a bolt-action, 5 round rifle.

I own a Eddystone Model 1917 .30-06… nice hunting and target rifle.
    Please stand by for more.

It is a Springfield 03-A3 manufactured under licence by Smith-Corona. Exact same specs, and 30-06 is the most common calaber in the US.

Always found it funny that the rifle is dated as an 03 and the shell it fires is dated three years later.
