Which of these 2 rifles makes a better home defense gun, the AR-15 or the AK-47? I am talking about defending your home in a doomsday situation, when Western civilization as we know it melts down and every man is for himself. Or in a situation where our country is invaded by foreign powers and we as citizens must fight along with our military against the invaders.

I mean if you add a scope to Ak-47, would it be a sniper rifle and work perfectly as one ?

The army said it to expansive which is BS since they have the money for other programs. Protect the People with the Best.
proud to be in the USA baby!!!!
Past the word
21 Rounds 7.62x39mm FMJ military ball ammo fired at 20 feet from AK-47/AKM-variant rifle, and 120 rounds 9mm FMJ military ball ammo fired at 10 feet from Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun. and it did not past thur the body armor!!!!!!
There only a few folks waring it but I feel the troop in the field not just SP folks should have this type of protection

There is a guy who tells me he was in Vietnam (air force) and that his whole platoon died on a mission to an airfield but he did not go on. So I tell him to look up a name at the Vietnam Memorial wall and he say’s he doesnt remember anyones name(30+ guys and not one name remembered) Plus the other day we were watching Military chanel and the 10 best assault rifles was on and they came to the AK-47, he asked me what gun that was(He had no clue) hello people the ak-47 was the weapon of our enemy in vietnam?!?! anyone else smell some bullshit going on or is it just me? Reason why im suspicios and a lil bit angry is I am a marine infantryman (Iraq twice) and i would never forget the gun of my enemy or not remember any of my fallen comrades ecspecialy a whole platoon! Does anyone know how i could find out his military record?

Is our military spread too thin? Should we still be "protecting" South Korea with thousands of soldiers and sailors and be spending more money on the military than ANY country in all of HISTORY? Are the million dollar weapons over priced? Did not North Vietnam win the war against the United States with far less expensive technology? Didn’t the Viet cong and NVA win with the 1947 designed AK-47 rifles and by digging tunnels while America had billion dollar war ships and multi-million dollar jets? What is wrong with this picture?

Like for example, an AK-47? This is a research question. I don’t own any guns.
Yeah, I mean immediately after it comes out and it’s been underwater for two or three minutes.

i still want the AK-47 and the fully automatic transceiver but I would like to know about other assault weapons that would be good I already own a AR-15 so scratch that out and if you have any good info about the AK47 that isnt retarded that would be much appreciated P.S. i dont want to have to get it registered ok

In my opinion, it is those German G36 series of weapons and the new generation of Kalashinikovs.
Opinions please.
AK-47 is extremely robust but not accurate.
I would prefer AK-101 or any of the newer AKs.
Even the German G36s are great and incredibly light.
AKs are heavy.
Rek, I respect everybody’s opinions. LOL.

I’m looking for a black, modernized AK-47 model. I want it to be as metal as possible, and around 0.00. At least 350 FPS, and at least 300 rounds per magazine. And I want it to have a rail. Thank-you!
Giving me a direct link will increase your chances of getting best answer.

For speed, accuracy, caliber of bullets used [the higher the caliber the better] and range.
I hear the AK-47 is pretty good.
in real life not in video games.
Not that i need a gun. Also where i live guns are banned.
You know what?this is a joke question.

I can’t find any affordable ammo for my AK-47 anymore. There should be all kinds of 7.62x39mm military surplus out there in the world. Why isn’t it being imported into the United States? Ammunition for all firearms is outrageously priced right now if you can even find what you are looking for at all. What the heck is going on? Is everyone just stocking up for the revolution and drying up all the supply or is the Obama Administration already passing laws that are driving up ammo prices and banning importations?

I thought I was the only one having problems with it. Its a piece of junk. Now a lot of soldiers are finally complaining about it. Vietnam vets are saying they almost died because of it jamming so easily. I bet some people have. No country in the world uses them except the one’s that can’t afford to buy them so we give them out for free. The AK-47 is the rifle of choice. Is it because we are too ashamed to use a Russian designed weapon?
I would find it hard to believe that a lot of people haven’t died because of it.
I dont thinks its a good idea to breakdown your weapon to clean it in the middle of a firefight.

well last year i heard them say something about in 2008 finally replacing the M4. then they came up with teh XM8 but that got canceled….but i havent heard anything about teh FN SCAR being canceled..do you guys really think the FN scar is gunna take the place of the M4 and M16???? i REALLY hope they dont replace the M16 ill be really dissapointed…do whatever u want with the M4 but not the M16 lol
so does anyone know the REAL story behind the replacement situation?
also i heard theyre replacing the M249 with this thing called MK46..is that true also?
most appreciated
-jim
gave i highly disagree but u show a good point. althrough the AK 47 is HIGHLY powerful, it lacks accuracy and the violent recoil throws it off, u would not win a distant firefight in 300 meters and over if u had an AK. that is why our military rejected the AK in the first place..way innacurate

I cringe to stay "assault-style," but it gets the point across. I recently had the delightful pleasure of shooting an AK-47, and I’d love nothing more than to own a 100% legal rifle of similar coolness.
Any suggestions?

I heard on the news that it was an AK-47, but I highly doubt that he could get one of those… anyone know the real story?

Ive chosen three well known assault rifles. i would like to know there effectiveness, reliability stats, pros, cons and a comment about it.
people who are in military service or have gun experience are welcome.
The following rifles Ive chosen:
_ M4 carbine rifle
_ AK 47
_ Heckler and Koch G3

and M16 lag on stopping power. The standard gun for the taliban is the ak-47 and that has better stopping power than the American guns.

With hunting rifles being the only type of weapons still allowed.
I always hear conservatives claim we can’t use gun control because:
1, it violates the 2nd amendment
2, people need guns to protect their homes and protect themselves against the government
3, certain sickos enjoy the senseless killing of animals for sport and need guns to do so
4, there is no reason a law abiding citizen should not have a gun
5, criminals will still be able to get a hold of guns
let me elaborate:
1. If the government restricts the sale of all weapons except for rifles the 2nd amendment it not being violated. The amendment states we have the "right to bear arms." It does not specify what type of arms, and rifles are a type of arms. Using the 2nd amendment argument against my point is like saying people have the right to decide which particular courtroom they want to be in for their trial because they’re allowed to have trial for their crimes.
2. With a rifle one is perfectly capable of defending their home from invaders. Who needs a 9mm or an Ak-47 to defend themselves from a burglar? No one. Rifles work just fine; there is no need to have a concealed or military weapon to defend your home.
3. Those weirdos will still be able to kill all the animals they like with rifles.
4. If it were that simple I wouldn’t be advocating gun control laws. But until conservatives come up with a test that will 100% accurately determine who is and will be for the rest of their life a law abiding citizen and who isn’t so we know who we can sell guns to, that argument is fruitless.
5. True, they’ll be able to get a hold of guns whether we enact gun control laws or not. But going back to points two and three, the only reason a law abiding citizen would need a gun would be for protection or recreational purposes, and one can still protect their homes from criminals and hunt with rifles.
So then why have gun control laws? Because not ALL criminals have ties to organized crime where they can purchase illegal guns. And in fact, many shootings are accidental. In cases like the Columbine HS shooting, the shooters only had guns because they stole them from their parents or lax control laws allowed them to buy them easily; they didn’t have any ties whatsoever to organized crime and so if gun control laws were in place they wouldn’t have had any guns.
You see where I’m going with this, I don’t feel like extending it any further, I’m sure you can connect those final few dots.
Pied: elaborate, obviously. Don’t just say "yes" or "no" unless you’re speaking with emotion rather than reason.
Edward: I covered that in the post.

For the animal lover: this is just hypothetical. What would an Automatic M16 or AK-47 do against a charging Grizzly?

Hi
I’m sure most of us have seen the picture of, I think it was a british soldier, whose Kevlar helmet stopped 3 AK 47 rounds in Iraq. I tried telling this to a guy a work but he wouldn’t believe me…even thought there is a picture on the internet to prove it. In his own words he says that"it violates the laws of physics" to get a grouping of about 3 bullets in about a 10 inch square area or so..maybe a bit more. To me it doesn’t seem so far fetcher..but i have never been in the military. It was an AK that fired the rounds, but he’s is trying to tell me that NO machine gun of any type can get such a close grounping..even on 3 round burst. So..I want some solid facts to take back to work and prove him wrong. Some links or real data would be great. Thanks.

I’m making a game and I need three ideas for weapons that might be cool to add to the game. I have already used: M40 Sniper, AK-47, FAMAS, Shotgun, RPG, M16, M9 Pistol, and m249 saw.
