Guns technically have not much other purpose than to hunt or to harm people (out of self-defense or out of intent to physically harm). But in reality its just a tool. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. A knife and a car could do the same thing. It might be a really redundant tool since it has no actual real life (non-violent) application besides hunting. But I still believe that guns should be legalized. Definitely not military grade small arms such as assault rifles or explosives or incendiary rounds, that should be left to the military and law enforcement.
But however I think the American gun owning populace, should really tone down the fanaticism on the type or caliber of guns they own. They don’t need an automatic AK or 50. Cal Barrett or a Silenced UZI to go hunting deer or practice shooting or home defense. That’s absolutely absurd, that’s just the machismo of the American gun-owning man, proving they have the bigger gun.
Guns are tools, and their purpose is to even the playing field. Where a 50 (5ft) kg woman can be on even terms with a 140 (6’5ft) kg criminal. I’m saying that everyone should have guns, but everyone in the right mind should have the option to have one. It’s only the stupidity and violent people in a community that can make those who guns look bad.
I’m absolutely for banning explosives (unless it’s useful in a required field), fully automatic and silenced weapons to general public but I still think people should have rights to firearm ownership and reduce the firearms allowed to no more that 3 per person. I myself own a Sig Sauer P226 40. which I shoot and the range and clean regularly. But I will never understand the kind of person that owns a 100 round AK47 and goes around blowing up propane tanks or uses a Barrett 50. Cal to hunt deer. You don’t need a chainsaw to cut your sandwich or taking a taxi to get somewhere a block away. Thanks just irresponsible and simply overdoing it. Like I said, guns are merely a tool for defense or hunting (maybe competitive marksmanship, but that doesn’t have any real day to day life value).

Can someone under 21 legally own an incomplete regulated firearm in Md, minus the receiver (barrel, bolt carrier, handguard, pistol grip etc.) Say, unassembled parts to an AR15 or Ak47…and can the same person legally buy/sell/transfer ‘parts’ and/or ‘parks kits’ with the exception of the receiver?.. if so, is the receiver the only part that requires an FFL?

I’ve been checking the Cabela’s flyers online once in a while lately because I’,m thinking about getting an assault rifle (either an AK47 or an AR-15) but it always says in the ad "Not available in Connecticut". Is this because there is some type of assault weapons ban in Connecticut or just because this particular store does not carry them? Thanks

I just don’t understand why they took out the chinses assault rifle from new vegas i mean it was the closest thing to an ak47 in the whole game! I was hoping they might bring it back as a dlc.

I am ex-military and own an ak 47 (bought it 8yrs ago) and I love it! I like the idea of not having search and search for the right ammo and know the weapon will always fire no matter what. I also feel that the ak 47 is very unjustly accused of being very inaccurate! I am able to get 1.5 to 2inch shot groups at 100yds. I was watching the Hitler (ummmm) history channel special on the m-16 and man did they play that gun up.They even went so far as to call it the "most powerful assault rifle" so far. I laughed so hard, had to stop the treadmill or would have went flying! Anyway, being prior military I know this is not the case. Every chance we had we were cleaning our m-16s. I thought it was just military discipline but now know that it was that the military’s understanding that if m16s weren’t clean – they may very well jam. Not trying to re-hash the ak47 vs m16 debate was just wondering . Ex or current military only please!

Im interested in buying an AR15 or M4. I’ll target shoot with it (not competitivley) and probably wont use it to defend the home (got the Mossberg 500 for that
but its one of those gotta have guns and im looking for a rifle in .223 anyway, so might as well consider these. Theres so many variations, but im looking for one of the ones thats clean and generic of a military version. Im not really looking for an all out custom crazy look that some of the upper end ones have that end up costing 1500- infinity dollars. I know i can expect less accuracy farther out with the M4, but personally, I like the way to looks…….Any thoughts opinions on different makers, what company to stay away from, which to buy from etc etc. Half of the fun in buying a new gun is researching and learning something of what everyone else knows. Thanks for any serious input, anyone who says get the AK47 you’re truly worthless.

I was in the military and just got out, I would want something similar to my government issued M4. I believe that would be an AR15, I would also be interested in an AK47. Is there a certain manufacter, store, or website to check out? Is there one to avoid? Thanks

Is it a assault or battle rifle. I am confused because the ak47 uses heavy ammo but it is considered an assault rifle. Plus, does the scar h have a lot of recoil?

As far as legally available fire arms AR15 or AK47 which would you recommend for a good assault style (just in case) weapon. I used both an M14 and M16 in nam and while there were definately advantages to the M16 (mainly weight and how much ammo you could hump) I always liked the range and flatter trajectory of the M14. I have never used an AK but know that a lot of mercs have used them and wonder if they have more of the characteristics of an M14 that I like while maintaining the smaller size. Also..I’m not sure if I trust the country of manufacture for most of the AK’s..would want something reliable. Are there any other suggestions

Really what the heck does a citizen need with a machine/submachine gun/assault rifle? I can understand a historical war collecter wanting them but nobody else obviously needs them since we have militay branches and law enforcement to protect us. If Hawkins’ (The Omaha mall shooter) relative didn’t have the AK47 to begin with there probably wouldn’t have as many people killed.

I’m looking to fill my gun cabnit with a few surplus rifles(mostly target shooting and maybe varmint hunting). When I think of surplus rifles I think of the mosin nagant, kar98, springfield, lee enfield, sks, ak47, and other popular military rifles. I want reliabilityy, cheap ammunition, and decent/good accuracy. Whats my best bet? I would like to pay between 0-0 for each rifle.
