I heard the US Military are looking to replace the M16 and its variants because of its "aging condition". I mean it doesn’t have to be out of service because it’s old. As long as it is effective it’s still in use right?
That means there are some drawbacks or negative things to the weapon? What are the "drawbacks" of the current issued M16A4 rifles? Like jamming or heavy or short in ammo or stuff like that.

I have someone currently interested in purchasing my good-to-excellent condition Yugo SKS. It has appx. 325 rounds through it, has the NATO standard 20mm grenade launcher, with an 11.5” bayonet, and the 12-port muzzle break. If I were to sell the rifle with 150+ rounds of ammo, 10 stripper clips, original military rope bore cleaner, and a bandolier, how much should I sell it for? Thanks.

I killed the guy you were talking about in Minefield, took the rifle, and shortly soon after ran out of ammo. The rifle was also in poor condition. I’ve also been to the shop before and havent seen one but ill check every so often. Thanks anyways.

I heard that they have a list of approved guns for people who want to do this. Well I want to bring a S&W 1911 instead of using their 9mm beretta. I’m pretty sure they’ll let me considering they used to use Colt 1911s not too long ago.

Well the 1911 shoots 45ACP rounds, and I’m pretty sure the military doesn’t have any weapons that shoot this, so how are they going to supply me with ammo? Do I have to call my mom and tell her to go out and buy 8 cases of 45ACP rounds and send them to Iraq?

Like 1000 tanks 75 jets 150 helicopters 750,000 machine guns . Just what kind of military are we going to leave in Iraq so they can hold off the rest of the middle east . The same kind we shipped them in the early 80′s . Fighter jets ,tanks ,transports, copters ,guns ,ammo ,grenade ,launchers ,explosives mines ,communications equipment and all supplied by our tax dollars .

Some of this stuff is being used to kill our soldiers .

Is Bush just Stupid or what .

You can not win an urban war with ground troops .

You must bomb the people into complete surrender .
They should walk up and ask how high when our soldiers show up . We should find guns all over the streets rusting away .

We need to carpet bomb Iraq into complete submission .

I love my rifle, (one the best military rifles for accuracy and you can scope it)….Anyway, Does anyone know where I can find an aftermarket stock, or another 6 round magazine, or better yet, an extended magazine for it? oh, is there any ammo I can use in place of the the swiss 7.62×55. (something that is cheaper?)

In my current mood of "share your memories…"

We were on a firing range with the FN MiniMi (US designation : M249 SAW).

We were firing individually, so the range master come on my side and tell me "Ready…"

I put my machine gun, with a loaded belt on my shoulder, safety off, sights on the lowest part of the target…

"Go !"

I raise the machine gun, I aim, press the trigger and

clunk.

in my head "clunk ? damn it ! jammed !", so I remove the firearm from my shoulder, I give a good tap on the top cover and my hand come on the bolt handle to rack it…and then, I realize something is missing at the end….

People later told me I said : "For sure, it will not work well"

the barrel was on the ground, the link and the ammo too…

The range master was laughing…I thought he would never stop.

Just a fun memory to share with you.

The barrel mount was just…a little too much used on this one.

lol. I still laugh too.

I always wondered how the military uses their ammo in their guns. They could be busting into a house with 10 guys in it with only 1 shot left in their clip. How do they know? Same think with police and hand guns.

every man between 21 and 32 years of age is given a M-57 assult rifle and ammo to keep at home. The Swiss government sells there old military rifles to civilians. The Swiss can boast one of the lowest crime rates in the world and in history. So why is violent crime so rare there and very dominant in countrys with many more gun laws. I’m 18 years old and I live in Gainesville, Florida, can I legally go to the local surplus store and buy an assault rifle (M4, P90, AKs and such)??? or Do I have to be 21 in order to do that. Same question with the ammo.

I’m not planning to buy one soon, I’m just curious bout the laws.

I just got back from my summer camp, and I took a liking to riflery. With the .22 cals there (They are really crappy, Anshutz rifles), I was shooting 90′s and 91′s on 50 ft competition targets, but I was shooting them at 75ft. (25m).

For someone that has never shot before, the people there (all ex military) thought I was a great shot. I even made the team and shot with kids 3 years older than me. (And yes I shot freehand, bipods are for wimps). I made it from Pro Marksman to Expert (and almost Dist. Expert) in 1 month.

So… One of the instructors emailed my parents and suggested I get an air rifle to train with so I can get better. My dad is cool with the idea, and my mom thinks its a good idea to have a unique sport for college, but 1 set of my grandparents are NRA haters and are really opposed to the idea, and the other set is also opposed because of the idiotic stuff my uncle did with his BB gun as a kid.

I’m just wondering how I should convince my parents. They know that I am very mature and would exercise extreme caution, and only shoot it when they are around, but it is still not enough.

Anybody know any other ways to convince them? I have already offered to buy it and the ammo with my own money. Ohh and this is an air rifle (supped up BB gun, not a real rifle).

P.S: I’m 13

I am interested in getting a rifle, more for long range target shooting than hunting. I’m thinking .308 or .338 Lapua. Any comments on Caliber and/or grain would be most welcome.

I have shot plenty before, but haven’t done much long range shooting with a scope. My question is, if I get a rifle like a Remington 700, or a Ruger M77 Hawkeye, should I be able to hit targets beyond 1,000 yds? I believe that it’s the shooter not the gun that makes the difference.

Any advice on ammo, optics, technique, or rifles is welcome!

my m-60 has pulled me out of a few jams in my 6 yrs of service
no its not fun but is noce to have ehough firepower to say go the fuckk away real loud ant its only like carrying 60 lbs or so

i’m a 6’3" 295lb navy seal an m60 and about 4 boxes of ammo takes a long time to get heavy. and in ambush they go for the piont or rear guard or the officer. and seals dont usually get ambushed we ambush
well joachin a mid 1980 M60E4 long barrel weighs about 23lbs ,the short barrel is 22lb, the only deference netween this and the E3 is the extra rail mounts, it weighs the ame mounted, or co-axial, the ammo is 7.62 mm nato rds, weighs about 46lbs, i caried 300 rd assualt packs, and you couldn’t do a damn thing to stop me from posting anything. and robert are you calling me fat,

The F2000 with the special red dot sight looks almost identical to the fully auto Halo assault rifle. Both are bullbup, about same size, similiar fire rate and damage, and the big red dot sight looks like the ammo display for the halo rifle.

But my friends say it looks like the battle rifle wtf

Which kinds of ammo are low in recoil, but can still pack a punch? I’ve read the charts and info, but since I haven’t personally fired anything bigger than the .22′s, I can’t grasp the concept.
Also, kinda off the wall, but what are some ammo that are controllable if fired from burst/auto? This might be more on the Military side, just curious if any body fired and tried one.

I can’t find any affordable ammo for my AK-47 anymore. There should be all kinds of 7.62x39mm military surplus out there in the world. Why isn’t it being imported into the United States? Ammunition for all firearms is outrageously priced right now if you can even find what you are looking for at all. What the heck is going on? Is everyone just stocking up for the revolution and drying up all the supply or is the Obama Administration already passing laws that are driving up ammo prices and banning importations?

i know im just getting my hopes up and it will never happen, but do the chinese have out of date military guns stocked up(like the iron curtain), because supposedly their economy is going to crash in 9-12 months, and if that happens what are the chances of something similar to the cheap iron curtain guns happening again(if their economy goes really bad, like greece)?

also does anyone have any idea of where to get 5.8x42mm chinese ammo?

i know it takes 7.7 jap ammo. but i have seen some of these old wwll rifles and it dosen’t look like the ones i have seen. its actually in great conditions only shot out of it a couple of times and it really dosent look like a military rifle.
