I’ve become very interested in firearms lately and I find it difficult to find a website with interesting articles on guns. I’ve always been into guns and military stuff, not really into hunting but I would like to try it someday. I would like to buy a rifle in a few months when I’m old enough and I would like to get something other than an AR-15 but I really don’t know what else is out there. Any websites that offer reviews and interesting articles on the subject would be very much appreciated.
What is the point of having an AR-15 military grade rifle when all you’ll be shooting is game.

im thinking of joining the canadian armed forces. i know all of the physical requirements (2.4km in 12 minutes, etc) but im wondering how accurate a group do you need to have with the standard c7 rifle. i have hunted and shot a number of firearms but never an ar-15 style weapon.
I am in the military and i will be moving back home to California in a few months. I have a few weapons; S&W MP9, Escort 12Gauge Pump shotgun, Mosin Nagant, and an AR-15. I hear that the gun laws suck out there because the AR-15 is considered an "Assault" rifle eventhough its not full auto. is there any way around this? Can i still take my guns back home? Do I have to get a special permit? Dont really care to hear anyone’s rant about how i shouldnt have a gun cuz its dangerous cuz i hear it all the time and im keepin it one way or another. Any useful info is very appreciated.
My Life Suck- All the weapons I have are because i have personally bought them. Even the AR. The Military usually issues you the M4 and i dont think they let you keep it. but the worst they can say is no right. good luck.
I live in WV and own a AR-15 Bushmaster, Tactical .12 ga Mossburg & other weapons. How do I sell them legally? I have a military spinal cord injury and can no longer enjoy shooting sports and hunting. Most are long guns, but I also have a Colt 1991-A1 .45 semi. and a Rossi S & W J frame Stainless Steel .38. All are like new condition and well cared for. Do I need to have a dealer sell them and give up a commission?
The m 16, ar 15, ak 74, ak 47 and the Famas are all .223 cal. I want a higher caliber assault rifle but I also want to know why most modern military rifles are such a low cal. I know that the rifles are all the same size so NATO can use the same ammo for the different countries guns, but are they small bullets to make them better at piercing body armour ? any suggestions on what assault rifle to get for my self? (other that the ar 10)
If you were in battle fighting for your life would it matter much if your weapon was an AR-15 instead of an M-16?
For those that don’t know, an AR-15 was initially manufactured from Colt who also makes the M-16. Many parts of the AR-15 are interchangable with an M-16. The M-16 has a selector switch allowing single, full auto and three shot burst. If you are isolated from your supply you will have limited ammunition which you are carrying on your back. Using full auto will deplete your ammo in a fraction of the time than using single shot mode. Are you seriously going to use full auto at a rate of 1200 rounds per minute with a few hundred rounds you are carrying? There is a philosophy on handguns that if you got six shots you make them count but if you have a large magazine you are not concerned as much about each shot because you can keep pulling the trigger as a result having a much higher miss ratio
So would it really matter to you if you had an AR-15 or an M-16?
I am in college now and I plan on getting my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and then a masters degree. I fell like I need to serve time in the military for the people of the U.S. and so I can really deserve to live in this country. I was born here but I don’t feel like I deserve the right to live in a free society while others are risking their lives and most never even get a chance.
I don’t want to have a desk job in the military and I don’t want a random tech job or something. I really would like to be a Navy Seal but I know I will have to work hard before I even get there. I would like to be a combat soldier. At least I think I do…I don’t have any idea what it would be like or if it would be a good or bad choice.
What options do I have? Would the military be a good thing for me or should I just stick to the civilian world and get a career in engineering? I like collecting and shooting military firearms but I don’t want to be some poser who thinks they are tough stuff because they bring their AR-15 to the range in military fatigues but doesn’t have a clue about military service.
I am on the fence about this one.
O, just for the record, I am not that poser. I don’t own an AR-15 or wear fatigues when I go to the range. I own WW2 military firearms.
I was wondering cause I’m only 20 and want to buy one but unsure if its considered an assault rifle cause you have to be 21 tp buy anything classified as that

I need a rifle that is semi-auto that is good for a pack of coyotes. im looking at a 223 in a ar-15 (has to be legal in ny). By the way i do not want to know like you dont need that kind of gun for coyotes.
Criminals are becoming more brazen, opening fire with automatic assault rifles on police officers armed with only semiautomatic pistols and sometimes shotguns. Should our law enforcement officers have automatic assault rifles in their patrol cars, so they can fight back when they come under attack by a deranged individual intent on massacring the police?

I looked up AR-15 on Wikipedia and learned that it is a semiautomatic rifle based on the M-16. I suppose the AR-15 is good for police work, especially in the hands of a shooter who can make every shot count.
I enjoy target shooting but I rarely take my assault rifles though. One of them was purchased by me ‘pre-ban’ and the others I purchased while on vacation in other states. Does anyone know the penalty if you get caught shooting an assault rifle in California? What about the one that I bought back in the 80′s? Is it okay to shoot that one even though it is an ar-15? Just wondering if anybody has dealt with this before. . . . Thanks, Randy

Many people say the 5.56 is louder then the 7.62X39 dude to the much higher gas pressure(62,000 psi for 5.56 vs only 45,000 psi for 7.62×39) and that the bullet is almost 1000 ft per second faster. Is this true? I get mixed answers, some say the 5.56 is louder, others say the 7.62X39 is louder.
I know the 5.56 has a sharper sound while the 7.62X39 has more of a duller sound.
Also how does the 5.56X45 and 7.62X39 compare to the 7.62X51 NATO/.308 which has more powder?

One is that it is a weapon that can switch between semi-automatic and fully automatic fire. But, a Thompson sub-machine gun can also do this and it is not an assault rifle it is a submachinegun. Another definition is that it fires an intermediate round, something between a rifle round and a pistol round. An AR-15 fires an intermediate round and it is just a semiautomatic rifle that looks "mean"….I don’t consider it an assault rifle, it is just a semi-automatic rifle to me.
The phrase seems bogus to me. It seems that whenever someone wants to make a gun look "bad" they call it "assault rifle". "Assault" also means "attack" so it also seems like the definition depends on what you are using it for. You could assault someone with any rifle…does that mean a bolt action .22 cricket is an assault rifle too?
I feel that if there is no definite defintion that everyone honors and that we should just make up a new term and scrap "assault rifle".
I pretty much have a good idea of what they are, the definition dosn’t seem to be rock hard to me though. A lot of people seem to like to distort it into being something it isn’t. I tihnk we should make a new term and first thing make an accurate definition. Assault Rifle was supposedly coined by Hitler and was not really defined at the time of it’s making thus allowing for all manner of interpretations. I know several people who thing my SKS is an assult rifle just because because it has a bayonet, a grenade launcher and looks kind-of-ish-like an AK-47.
I just think Assault Rifle has been too over used, over defined and has just become a bad phrase.
Now select fire can’t be right because the MP43/44 is only semi-auto and full-auto. There is no burst fire mode. If we make it have 3 fire modes the original assault rifle will no longer be an assault rifle. If we count 2 fire modes things like Thompson’s will be assault rifles and they are not rifles. I find that every option contradicts itself in some way….this is a very complex problem, we are trying to undo 60 years of error.
I’m looking for a .223 Remington or .308 Winchester rifle that costs between 0 and 00 and has military style iron sights as well as a mount for optics. M1A’s are a bit out of my price range and I’d rather not buy a modified California legal AR-15, but I’m still trying to buy a rifle that I can work on improving my marksmanship with an M16. Any suggestions? Thanks.
