What should i get an air soft spring sniper rifle or and air soft assault rifle. Which do you think i should get? i am leaning towards the sniper because it will be backyard wars and i can just camp in the woods and pick them off as they come to me.

I’ve been wanting to join the military sense I was a teenager but i simply had too many obligations to make the commitment. Now I’m 24, have an associates degree and am free of all responsibilities binding me down. I’ve spoken to a few recruiters but it seems to me that they are all so biased toward their respective branches ("join mine its the best!") that i can’t seem to get some good solid unbiased input.
I know I’ll have to retake the ASVAB but assume that i score at least as well as I did when i took it in high school – i was told i scored high enough on all parts that i would be able to take any job i wanted. For the sake of this discussion lets assume that the suggest job is also available.
Im very tech inclined (I’ve worked doing pc repair/custom building and networking) I’ve also worked doing construction (mostly carpentry) my last job was as a wedding photographer. I’m an avid outdoorsmen and i often kayak and rock climb. Physically, I’m in excellent athletic shape and have strong endurance. I’m a hands-on kind of guy, thus the only thing i know i don’t want is a desk job.
I have no fear danger, or hard work, and i openly embrace even the most difficult of challenges head on. Ill admit I’m a bit nervous about taking a military position that will leave me offering nothing to the civilian work force once my service is over. Assault rifle marksmanship offers little to the civilian life, or so they say.
thanks in advance.
my understanding was that to be an officer 120 credit hours are required. I have only 70, so unless i’m missing something or misunderstand something, then i can not be an officer nor pilot. i think my 70 credits will only get me as far as E-2
I guess i want a job with some action, but also has some sort of reasonable transition into the real world once my service is over.
I’m going back to the army recruiter this week, maybe ill have come up with something.

I know they both use the AK-47 and AK-74, but did/do they use the SKS? i would think so, because it is a pretty cheap gun, pretty reliable, and is an assault rifle, it is close caliber to the AK, almost identical (though the SKS doesnt have a pistol grip, different sights, and just a few slight differences in design) but did they use it? are they still manufactured?

I am ex-military and own an ak 47 (bought it 8yrs ago) and I love it! I like the idea of not having search and search for the right ammo and know the weapon will always fire no matter what. I also feel that the ak 47 is very unjustly accused of being very inaccurate! I am able to get 1.5 to 2inch shot groups at 100yds. I was watching the Hitler (ummmm) history channel special on the m-16 and man did they play that gun up.They even went so far as to call it the "most powerful assault rifle" so far. I laughed so hard, had to stop the treadmill or would have went flying! Anyway, being prior military I know this is not the case. Every chance we had we were cleaning our m-16s. I thought it was just military discipline but now know that it was that the military’s understanding that if m16s weren’t clean – they may very well jam. Not trying to re-hash the ak47 vs m16 debate was just wondering . Ex or current military only please!

This is a serious question. I can’t for the life of me think why anyone would need what is essentially a machine gun. Handguns or hunting rifles I can understand. But AKs etc?
jimmy f; yes, but TVs and cars have a specific purpose, ie to entertain/provide transport. An assault rifle has one purpose, to kill people. Lots of them. So why do you need one?
trigunmarksman; I wonder if the US troops being shot at in Iraq would agree that a well armed society is a good thing?

Is it any wonder the world regards the USA as a nation of morons?
hynose lancome; I do not live in the USA, and would not so so even if houses were being given away free
mikegolf; AK’s are still legal in Cali. Please give me one single good reason why on earth anyone would need an AK assault rifle.
landlord. I see….so the number of people killed or injured by guns in the USA each year is around 80,000. The number of people killed by dope is….zero. Isn’t it the consitutional right of stoners to be protected from gun loving lunatics?

Generally I wouldn’t consider a carbine (pistol ammo) for combat use because of limited range and stopping power. However I have found several manufacturers producing .40 S&W assault style firearms and they interest me because they utilize their corresponding pistols magazines. Since the biggest complaint I’ve heard from those not liking the .40 S&W in a pistol is that it has too high a velocity and long range for close combat (police say stray rounds can travel too far or bullet tends to go through target), I’m wondering if the effective range might not be even greater fired through a rifle barrel thus making it a serious choice to consider in an assault rifle. Please only experienced shooters with knowledge of .40 S&W ballastics reply.
(this may be miscategorized but thought I’d get better responses in military)
I thought it might be good if already owning a .40 pistol to have a carbine that utilized the same ammo and magazines.
Betterdead…just tried your link and get this message…I wonder why:

I’m new to airsoft, and I don’t know how much I should spend on an assault rifle. I’m looking for something such as the M4 or M16. I’m not really too big of an AK guy and the ones that resemble the SCAR-H seem pretty expensive. Which are the best ones and what is a reasonable price?

I’m going to play the halo 3 beta thats this Wednesday, and I’ve seen a lot of videos with the assault rifle. Since it will be the average respawn weapon, I probably should know more about it. My question, is to ask any kind of tips for using the new assault rifle: how to aim, use bullets wisely, etc. Oh, by the way, I could use some beta friends. all mine have the original xbox. my gamertag is TheGodOfWar91. Thanks for the tips.

I have heard that full-auto fire is no longer standard issued in the military; and that they now offer only semi and burst mode. Is this true? I have also heard that on special occasions some M16s are modded to have the auto function for those high ranked or special op troops.
I wonder why a assault rifle such as the m-16A4 can’t have all 3 mode of fire instead of excluding one or the other. Answers are appreciated.

Me and one of my friends each turn 18 in march, and we each planed on buying our own SKS. would we be allowed to or do you have to be 21? and would it be a simple 10 minute background check (like for bolt action hunting rifles) or would they have to do a special assault rifle check that would take several days?
Thanks

As far as i can tell there are many answers to this question but there are a few that completely confuse me. The first is to keep our government in check, I don’t understand how even a large population armed to the teeth is supposed to fight a government that has enough nukes to blow up the entire planet. Second is self protection, we have all heard about the horrible crimes committed every day yet the stories of people successfully protecting themselves with firearms are few and far between. Another reason i have heard deals with protecting our country from foreign invasion, I don’t think the redcoats are coming back any time soon. Now don’t get all pissy with me if you are pro-gun because I don’t want to take them away from you I just don’t see the reason for so many guns in this country. I can see if you are a businessman transporting large amounts of money or if you are a hunter and want to own a hunting rifle or shot gun or military and police and you want a personal firearm to take to the range, but why should anyone that wants an assault rifle or powerful concealable handgun be able to get one especially if there is no need for them to own it other than just to have a collection.
I was being sarcastic with the nuke thing I guess i meant the most powerful military in the world which could easily control imports and exports, air space, etc.. As far as protection from foriegn invasion I don’t think any country would be foolish enough to try an actual all out invasion. I think a war of that magnitute would probobly involve the U.S. against another nuclear nation and an armed population wouldn’t matter in that case my point about that is that the days of Napoleon and the Redcoats are over I think the framers of the constitution realized the need for an armed militia but if they new that we would someday be this powerful they would have rethought the need for a completely armed population for protection.
I don’t agree with the notion that if a thief was going to break into a house he wouldn’t rob a gun owners house stolen guns are very easily sold for quick cash making a gun owners house even more tempting.
I like the argument about liveing in a rural area and owning a gun for protection that’s a very good reasonable point. Now for the gun owner that has a gun for protection when the police are minutes away (large population city setting) I don’t quite agree with, because if you are a responsible gun owner that has a gun locked away in a safe place how would you get to that gun at a moments notice especialy if your house is broken into unexpectedly.
People that successfully protect themselves with a gun wouldn’t be on the news??? Have you seen the news lately??? I think the news would eat a story like that up.

I have an airsoft Remington Tac 1 shotgun, but I want to upgrade to a good electric assault rifle, that is on the cheaper side (no more than 0)
Would a good Scar Light be in the mix?
Any other suggestions are welcome.

stories of crimes involving the use of assault rifles. Handguns, yes, but rarely an assault rifle. But my memory isn’t infallible. If you know of some, please tell me, or give me a site that lists them.
This arose because I thought the amount of effort spent debating about banning assault rifles was disproportionate to their actual use in crimes, including crazy shooting sprees. So for the purposes of this question, please do not include hunting rifles or shotguns. That’s a larger question.
Thanks.
