can you fire military grade incendiary ammo from an average civilian rifle?

February 23rd, 2011 by eranio

like if you were to pick up a 7.62 x 51mm incendiary cartridge, could you fire it out of a civilian .308 bolt action rifle without any harm done to you or the rifle. just wondering and i would never try it.

Looking for a bolt action rifle with a detachable magazine.?

November 12th, 2010 by eranio

I am looking for a bolt action rifle chambered in .308 Win. (7.62×51) that has a detachable magazine. Preferably a military spec/style model. I have looked at some of Remington’s military models (700p, M24, M40) but have not been successful in finding a rifle with the detachable box magazine. Answers would be widely appreciated.
Cheers, and keep your powder dry!

Russian World War Two Equipment: Good or Bad?

October 14th, 2010 by eranio

I thought it was all pretty good and of high quality:

Tokarev Pistol -Pistols don’t win wars, but it was reliable in dirt and dust, unlike the Luger.

Ppsh-41 Submachine Gun: Reliable, Chrome lined barrel, and double the shots of the MP-40.

Moisin-Nagant Rifle: Too long, but no bolt action rifle has reliability problems. Used en bloc clip, but so did half the bolt action military rifles on Earth. Reliable.

DP machine gun. Delicant magazine pan, and magazine had tendency to overheat. Otherwise reliable

The SG-43 Goryunov: Excellent in all ways.

Maxim 1910: 150 pounds with carriage and shield, but reliable.

Soviet Anti Tank Guns: OK, here was a failing. They never developed infantry hollow charge anti tank weapons.

Soviet Artillery: The Soviets had a very effective 76.2mm anti tank gun early in the war which the Germans did not. Soviet 76mm, 122mm and 152 mm field weapons were simple and effective. The 120mm mortar was so good the Germans copied it. 57mm/85mm anti aircraft guns effective.

T-34/76 Tank. Better armor/gun/gun pressure/power/reliablity than Panzer III/IV. And could be produced ten to one.

T-34/85 Tank. Match for Panther/Tiger. And could be produced ten to one.

SU-85/SU/-100/SU-152 Cheap simple, well armored, well armed Assault Guns that were easy to manufacture.

KV-1/Joseph Stalin Tanks: Excellent armor and effective tanks.

Sturmovik: Outstanding Ground Attack Aircraft

Yak-3 /Yak-9
Lavochkin-5/ Lavochkin-7 Fighter Planes-Excellent manueverability and Power. Superior perfomance under 5,000 meters. Somewhat undergunned.

Russian weaknesses were: Very poor training, terrible supply, terrible food/clothing, terrible leadership early in the war, lack of concern over high death rates. But I think most equipment was good.

Russian equipment weaknesses were: No effective high altittude fighter planes (but they didn’t need any), no strategic bombers, no effective Navy or production of escort ships for convoys.

would an old military bolt action rifle be better for an SHTF situation than a semi auto rifle?

September 23rd, 2010 by eranio

i was thinking about this the other day, so figure you are going to want something that can reliably defend you from anything (bears, humans etc.) so it has to be a high powered caliber. second a semi auto rifle( ak-47, ar-15 etc.) need a magazine to function. what if you lose or break that magazine, then you have to load one round at a time, compared to the bolt action rifle that has an internal magazine that cant be lost. and lastly most military rifles were designed with the idea of hand to hand combat in mind, so they can be equipped with bayonets. Just tell me what you think and if you agree or disagree with me

How come military looking rifles are just so expensive?

June 23rd, 2010 by eranio

Is it because they are semi-auto?

I can buy a quality bolt action rifle for under 0, yet rifles like an AR-15 all seem to be around ,000 or more.

If I am a lefty, is buying a right-handed airsoft sniper rifle worth it?

February 7th, 2010 by eranio

I’m left-handed, and I would like to start sniping in airsoft. Unfortunately there are no left-handed bolt-action airsoft sniper rifles. I was wondering (preferably from another lefty) if buying a right-handed regular bolt-action rifle would be worth the trouble of reaching over to cock the gun.
I do plan on getting a bi-pod to make the cocking easier.

What is a fair price on an Israeli Military .308 rifle?

January 24th, 2010 by eranio

I’m considering buying a IMI .308 rifle for 0 + tax. The shop owner said the rifle is an older one, and that the previous owner took good care of the gun. Is this a fair price for the rifle?
I forgot to mention that it is a semi-automatic rifle, NOT a bolt action rifle.

Can you make a case for owning a semi-automatic weapon or assault rifle?

December 14th, 2009 by eranio

Without using the second amendment argument since our forefathers obviously could not have imagined today’s weaponry when they wrote it, can you make a logical argument as to why an average citizen in America should be able to purchase or own a semi-automatic weapon or assault rifle? I would like to hear well thought out reasons as to why we should have these guns readily available for sale to the public. This is a serious question because despite where I stand, I am trying to see both sides of the gun control issue.
To the person who commented about my lack of knowledge – Yes, I DO know the definition of semi-automatic. While I realize it only fires once each time you pull the trigger – it does fire more rapidly than a bolt action rifle and will fire until the stored ammunition is exhausted – which can mean a substantial number of times. Consequently – if you have a rapid trigger finger you can do a lot of damage in a short period of time. You missed the fact that I live in the south. I grew up in a house with hunting rifles and still have one. It is NOT, however a semi-automatic.
