China is the world’s oldest continuous civilization, in existence for more than four thousand years. In its golden age it discovered matches 700 years before Westerners, invented gunpowder, firearms, rockets, and grenades, developed the first paper from the bark of trees and the first form of wood block printing, sent ships to explore as far as South Africa…And the list goes on and on. Now it’s the world’s largest consumer with the world’s largest military (2 million), the first non-Western nuclear power, and the government wants to turn 100 universities into world class research centers, and the majority opinion is that it will be a superpower within our own lifetimes…What makes the Chinese so ahead of everyone else?
I’m not Chinese, I’m not racist…I’m just wondering.

I know that China is strong in terms of number, but what about weapons and technology?

With the U.S. at the helm of a military alliance China would not be able to dominate that region which sadly it seems as if they are starting to.

I was reading a statistic saying if the Americans go to war with the North Koreans they Would lose 250 000 people. Now just taking a guess you would triple it to 750 000 wounded with makes it 1 000 000 causalities. North Koreans with old iron wooded rifles with old rusty ranks and cheap uniforms with a tin helmet. How can Americans suffer this much from a bunch of Barbarians? :O Every forum I been on Americans say they can bring China, North Korea, Russia to its knees in 6 months to a year and destroy everything in their military. Its funny how they think there so good and get there ass kicked. Look at the Eastern Front in World War II. Germans were seen as the best, lots of men, best weapons, best tactics, best strategies, best modern everything, and they still lost to the Soviet Union. The Soviet army back then was in much worse shape then the Russian army is now. So what makes the Americans think they will win against Russia? Look at North Korean statistics, it will be much much worse with China or Russia.

We have large bases in Japan and for what? Go ahead all of you experts explain, please.
Japan has weapons for self defense and a military.
Just purchased f-22 from USA.
Korea? What is the USA going to do if Korea does bomb Japan? Send in troops. We have bases in Korea.
We have wholes families in foreign countries that we are paying to support their living there, why?
These bases are full of things such as golf courses, fine dinning, movies, bowling, private marinas and the list goes on.
Yes, I have been to some of the bases, sweetie. Seems like you have not.
Yes, that is part of my problem. Yolu having so such on the bases and I am helping to pay for it, hello.
China & Korea, so what? we are going to invade with troops? If either one attacks Japan, it will be with missiles, hello.
Japan is in the process of changing the laws on self defense, before replying get some information and then reply.
We don’t need families overseas which we are paying to move there, live there, and have children there. When you join the military, just like becoming a policemen or teacher, you know the pay is low and you have a different lifestyle than a person in the civilian sector.
What the main subject is here is spending, the military budget and having an accounting done to see exactly what we are paying for. in 2005 we paid 11 million dollars for a center on Okinawa, Japan and in 2015 we are all but suppose to be gone from there, with very little left in personnel. People go to the eb site for these bases and have a look at what they have and what we are paying for, besides housing, child care and education for the children overseas. The biggest slice of the taxes goes to the military, hello.

China has been stealing Russian military equipment for years and copying it. The advantage is they don’t have to spend billions developing the weapons they just copy them and mass produce them on a scale unlike anything we could possibly do. The latest copy is a Russian submarine that they are currently mass producing.

many Americans own many guns, i hear America has more guns than people. who dare to invade the USA?!? USA should throw away the military what do you think?!? p.s. not me asking
No Pat, you are wrong. USA is the last country anyone would want to invade, along with China. UK would be pretty easy to invade as the peoples there are weak.

I just learned that the US sold laser guided bombs, UAV’s, F-16′s, Cobra attack helo’s, and other weapons to Pakistan the other day. With all this, we also give them 3 billion dollars a year to go towards their military! Why does the US do this? Militant groups could easily get control of those weapons and use them against us! We also sell weapons to china. Now that to me is just dumb. What if something were to happen? We would no longer have the military edge over everyone else. We would be fighting fire with fire.

is it because they are arc-rivals/enemies or is it because they are the world military mights? otherwise why not with china?
Then why people over here refers to russian weapons as obsolete and old technology? apparently russian army is useless and the USA is not worried about them…why do many people over here like to underestimate russia? after the USA, isn’t russia the second military power?
no, i don’t understand the problem, that is why i am asking.. this site isn’t only for cold war experts.

People (even the people from the U.S.) think that Russia has a strong military. A lot of it comes down to numbers of people in my opinion and that’s why China has a good military. Russia has about 141 million people while America has about 330 million people and we have better weapons and are more technologically advanced than Russia. So why do people think Russia has a good military or fears Russia (from a non-biased standpoint)? Is it because they also have nukes?

Something like the L85 or AUG. Maybe one with a heavier round like the 6.8 mm Remington.
Also, I don’t play video games so don’t call this a CoD question.
I am talking about the next 10 or so years.
I don’t think money should be considered much of a concern as we do account for about half of the worlds total military spending at 700 billion US dollars
Xeno, I believe you mean XM-8 as I can find no references to MX-8 anywhere, and that is neither bullpup nor .308 caliber, this may not be a CoD question but that was a CoD answer.
What?, Thats not what I meant, we have the best funded military the world over, if we want to switch to a bullpup rifle we can even if it does cost a bit more than an M16. China, the UK, Australia, and France have all switched and all have much less funding than we do.
Also, sarcasm sure as hell isn’t going to help illustrate your point, its just so f*cking annoying.

I know its not likely to happen given their bond..
but North Korea spends more money on their military than any other country (as a percentage) 85% of their economy is spent on their weapons and military.
They have more than 2 million soldiers which is close to what China has. Furthermore… their stupid corrupt leader has done an A+++ job in brainwashing all of his people.
So most likely they will suicide themselves for the sake of appeasing the great leader. Sort of like Jim Jones cult..

I’ll go first:
1)Put major restrictions on people on Wall Street using public funds
2)Ramp up deportations of illegal immigrants. I’d demand that "sanctuary cities" comply. If they didn’t I’d bring in the military.
3)Get out of Iraq the day I was elected
4)Put major tariffs on China until they stop fixing their currency.
5)Get rid of the federally mandatory criminal background check for licensed gun dealers. Get rid of the heavy regulation of fully automatic rifles.
What do you think? I am interested in seeing other’s responses

North Korea has repeatly stated it’s intention to bomb another country and distroy the United States as well as Japan. They are clearly trying to provolk a war hoping to bring in China, Russian, and the Muslim world against the U.S.A. and Japan/ South Korea.
So what choice do we have?

I see that nations like China, Belgium, Israel and others all have adopted new 21st century rifles with the same or better specs as the M16/M4 and that are more adapt for urban warfare, what rifle do you think will replace the outdated ones we have now and when?
A 21st century rifle is like the Tavor Assault Rifle where the magazine and gear box are behind the trigger so the barrell is farther back making the weapon and silloette of the fighter smaller. Also optics such as a red dot or laser scope are built in

If the American military fails(which is highly unlikely), and Cuba, China, North Korea and Iran advances into American soil, would you pick a gun and fight for you homeland? Like make a resistance group?
Or would you die because you don’t want to make violence?
If so, what legal weapon would you choose?

This is something I started to notice recently, how certain countries parade around and show off their military weapons as if they were the focal point of their national pride.
Examples include Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, where they have these massive parades with soldiers in uniform marching along side tanks, and missiles, and some kind of weaponry. Most of these countries also tend to do something similar to a "goose-walk".
The only thing I could think of that is like that in the U.S. would be the Blue Angels that fly at Miramar, but that’s more of a local thing than a national thing, and it’s also more of a sporting event than a nationalism thing (you have to pay to attend). Even so, the jets aren’t armed with missiles or doing dog fights….

I am looking for a sniper rifle that I could use in a war game next month. I wanted some suggestions on what cheap sniper rifles that I could buy. My budget is around USD. It would be cheaper if it is made in china. I just wanted a plain rifle, no bidpods. And could anyone recommend any scopes which is around 10 to 20 dollars. I live in hong kong.
Thanks for any advice.
