I am planing on getting a gun. I served in the israeli military as a volunteer and have recently returned to the US. I am an american citizen. I learned how to use and operate a large number of firearms and was required as a combat soldier to carry my weapon with me at all times. I have since been released and returned home to the united states and as result of having to carry one everywhere i went it feels unsettling to be without. I have no desire to buy an M4 a simple hand gun will suffice but do not want to break any laws. what is required to buy a hand gun in new jersey? what is required to get be able to carry it on my person? how do i get such licenses? what restrictions are there? and what are the laws of the surrounding states (New York and Pennsylvania) are there different laws for urban areas? do i have to file for permits from these states as well or will NJ permits be accepted?

Do Tranquilizer Rounds exist for use in regular or slightly modified firearms? It is for Law Enforcement/Military applications (possibly hunting). I need to know and what guns have special tranquilizer rounds/which guns can be modified for using tranquilizer rounds. I would like to have detailed information (pictures & diagrams of the round(s) and or the gun(s) that use tranquilizing agents) but anything that can help would be useful.

lock her up too.
I see we have a couple of yahoos who think I am anti-gun. Not the case, I have about a dozen guns, rifles, shotguns, pistols. And I got my 1st gun at 10 or 11 yrs or so. Sorry to sink your boat. We’re talking a 9mm assault rifle, not a .22 or a .410, which is what a 14 y/o may be responsible enough to handle. Take a look at the cache they found in his bedroom. You gonna tell me mama didn’t know that stuff was there? And what did she thin he was going to do with it? A 14 y/o DOES NOT need that kind of stuff, period. Anyone who would argue that his is an ok situation is either really out of touch with reality or just arguing to be a smartass.
oh, yes, I am a parent, to a 14 y/o & a 17 y/o. Both know how to hangle a weapon, but have access to light firearms, when I unlock the cabinet.

Would you….
A) Follow the orders of the government,
You would not be allowed to leave your home.
Your food would be brought to you.
Military forces would be present.
All Firearms and self defense weapons would be seized.
Television stations would shut down. (Leaving one channel to broadcast federally approved information)
Anyone that has been convicted of any crime would be detained if not killed.
Anyone currently serving a sentence in prison would be put to death.
And most citizens would be detained without Habeas Corpus.
B) Fight Back
Gather your weapons.
Dig in.
Defend.
C) Contact your local Militia and join.
D) Join the US Military.
Pacifist need to pick A.
And it does not matter what the reason, your freedom just got jacked!
A reason very possible,
Say the Iranians provoke the United States in to war, a war approved by congress. Then the use a nuclear device provided by North Korea. The US will then institute the draft because the UN would place sanctions on us if we used nuclear weapons our selves. Causing us to go bankrupt with the World Bank, anyhow the US would institute the draft and a lot of people would go, some wouldn’t. Then Iran uses biological weapons killing thousands of our troops. We would send more troops, not realizing that Iran has been sending troops through South America. Soon Iranian forces would cross the Mexican border and begin an assault on US soil. Badda boom Badda Bang. Martial Law.

I know for a fact that the military is not aloud to purchase any uniform items unless 98% or more of it is made in the US. They seem to be hypocritical about this American made stuff when it comes to firearms though. I understand that some of the best firearms in the world are not made in the US, but wouldn’t you think the US would try to push our own companies to make a better weapon? For instance, the Sig P226 is used by Navy SEALs. It’s an amazing gun, but it has to be imported to the US. Why not have an American company build a gun to meet our needs and not buy from another, even allied, country? Or at least have a company build them here in the US. I’m just wondering, not arguing with, the logic behind the US buying firearms that aren’t made in America.

I became an Infantry Recruit in the US Army on January 14th. I’m currently reserve status until I graduate High School.
I am really big into the military, and I love studying about firearms and stuff like that. One of my favorite firearms is our very own M14. I am fully aware that it is "officialy" no longer in service, but I know there are soldiers who still use it. What are my chances of actually being able to get my hands on one? Would I have to become a marksman? Or would I have to strike a deal with an armorer?
It’s not like I’d hate life for not getting one. I haven’t even fired a gun before, and who knows, I might hate the M14, but I’m still curious…

First, if your just going to say "take away the 2nd amendment, its outdated" don’t bother answering this question. Like EVERYONE says, if guns were outlawed only outlaws would have guns, then how do stop a person in your home to injure your family? Ask them to stop? This isn’t Russia. What will happen if Obama is voted in (besides us all moving to Canada)? Is there a real possibly of the 2nd amendment taken away? What would happen to us all who have firearms legally now? Will the military just go door to door basically taking guns?
Yeah, im a redneck because i go to the gun range an care if my family lives or dies by some thug wanting easy money….

Okay so I am thinking about joining the Military. Preferably the Air Force or Navy.
Can someone tell me the best position for someone who wants a lot of action, and wants to handle weapons most of the time.
I know there are different jobs in the Navy or Air Force, but what is the best for me?
Basically what i look for.
-A lot of action
-Handling firearms most of the time
-Flying in helicopters/jumping out of planes doing rescue operations.
Things like that, what advice can you give me? thanks!

NJ law states that you are to be issued your ID or permit within 30 days…
I applied 9 months ago… still no ID or permit.
After the first 5 months, I was informed there was a paperwork problem. So they fixed the problem and "sent everything out". It has been about 3 months since then, and still no word back.
I’m a military vet (just got out in march when I applied for my firearms ID and permit), I have a super clean record except for a no seat belt ticket, I’m a security guard, and I’m trying to become a police officer. I don’t understand why it would be taking so long.
So my question is: What should someone do if their application for a Firearms ID and purchasers permit goes over the "30 day" limit?
I’m applying for a purchasers permit for a handgun and the normal firearms ID to own/buy rifles and shotguns, not a permit to carry.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution has been interpreted in different ways. Some say that it only gives us the right to take up arms as a part of the military to defend our country, and others view it as giving us the absolute right to possess any types of firearms without restrictions.
What do you think about gun control legislation? Will gun control laws work to reduce violent crime? Why or why not?

A cop used his job title to enter peoples home and k*lled them with either grenade’s or firearms which they had collected.
I can’t think of the name of this killing spree and as I remember I did read that over wiki or something alike but I just can’t find the name of the massacre. Reason being I am collecting stories of massacres that the Military or any kind of law enforcement had part in .
I’m not mysteriously going to end up missing am i from asking this question?

Group A: People who go to licensed dealers and gun show and purchase their firearms where they are registered with the federal authorities. They obtain permits to carry concealed firearms after hours of safety training and hundreds of rounds of practice fire and after intense scrutiny into their criminal record. They spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars on high end firearms and ammunition that is held to the highest level of quality and safety control. They spend hundreds of hours and countless rounds of ammunition a year at the range. Some are former law enforcement and military personnel. They are some of the safest firearms operators on the planet. They purchase their weapons for hunting, sport, to exercise their God given right, and to assure the safety and well being of themselves, their loved ones, and their property. What they DO NOT do is perform drive-bys, knock off Seven-Elevens, mug people, and commit murder. For that matter they don’t commit hardly any type of crime because they have to maintain their permits to CCW.
Group B: People who commit murder, perform drive-bys, knock off Seven-Elevens, mug people, and generally have little to no regard for the law. What they DO NOT do is purchase their guns from licensed vendors or register them with law enforcement. They do not purchase high end equipment and ammunition from reputable dealers. They do not obtain legal permits to carry concealed weapons. They do not go through training in weapons use and safety. They do not go through any kind of screening process to weed out criminals (because that’s what they are). They purchase their fireams for any one of the aforementioned reasons
You still with me?
Now, using gun grabber logic, you can stop and prevent Group B from committing all the terrible things they do by taking guns away from Group A.
If you disagree, then please enlighten me.

Mountain Man,
To acquiring a CCW in Ohio requires an intense background check and a 17 hour training class that covers safe operation, accuracy practice, and the mental preparation to use a firearm in self defense. By the end of the course each participant will fire approximately 200 rounds of ammunition at the range. Please don’t tell me I’m wrong when I clearly have more knowledge on the subject than you.

I think you would agree that a straw buy would fall under the canopy of "illegally purchased". Law abiding citizens tend to do just that; abide by the law.
Mountain Man,
Aside from the fact that I think you have a myriad of your own issues, I disagree with the idea that you can affect a group of UNLAWFUL people by making new LAWS. The only people that will be affected by NEW gun legislation are people that obey CURRENT gun legislation (i.e. Group A and not Group B).

b) Talk radio
c) Boy Scouts from military bases
d) All mention of God in the public square
Liberals or Conservatives?
And why do they constantly want to take away our rights and freedoms?

So I’ve heard all of this crap about how people aren’t "true Americans" because they support gun control (reminds me of McCain/Palin’s "Real America" campaign). What are your thoughts about this?
My view: I’ve always been fine with gun control because I have no use for a weapon. The only use for firearms are (unfortunately) the military and for sport. Other than that, no use whatsoever. Personal protection? Restrict who can buy guns and do extensive background checks on the ones that do. Keep tabs on them for all I care. I just think it’s ridiculous; an error in the Constitution due to a couple comma’s. We don’t have a militia any more so no need for guns – end of story.
Just want your thoughts and opinions (however biased they may be, just support them). Oh, and don’t use the whole "you can shoot an armed burglar and save your family" excuse because I’ve heard an equal amount of stories where family members end up dead because of weapons in the house/accidents.

On an application I am filling out, I am specifying my police record: "Include all offenses, categorized by type (Felony, Firearms, Explosives, Alcohol/Drug, Military Court, Traffic, Other), include any pending charges." Categories are: Date, location, category, nature of offense, and ‘disposition’. There are only three spaces…
My first question is; Do I include a ticket for driving with an expired license and registration (2008)? and/or several speeding tickets from years ago?(I haven’t had a speeding ticket since, ’07). My worst offense is a DUI in ’04. I would think I must include that, since it is major. Which leads to my next question:
What is the difference between category, nature of offense, and disposition? Like how do I put that for my DUI and other tickets? (ie: traffic, dui, drunk?) I dont know…or like speeding (traffic, speeding, going too fast)???
Help please, so I can finish this and turn in the application already!

Accord to this incident: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Akex2HwpticTEytbvEsyCJPsy6IX?qid=20070216083217AACYxp2
It has really make me seriously consider my safety. I’ve been around firearms a lot (being in ROTC, have lot of military friends, and other things) I’m extremely accurate and good with small firearms and shotgun. I’m far from trigger happy. So I’m starting to think I should be looking into get a firearm for in case something happen again.
I’ve been thinking about a 16 or12 gague shotgun since pellets doesn’t go through the wall (my guess…) or something along 9 mm or .32 ACP since those are easier to aim with and have some stopping power.
I’ve had stranger walk into my house once (a friend of friend who I don’t know) and I approach her but didn’t hurt her at all eventhough I’m a Muay Thai fighter. So this basically show that I won’t go crazy and shoot everything that move in the house.
So would firearm be good for me or not?
I live in one of the safest city in northern Calif. So it’s not the location, this whole thing happen because roommate got in with wrong crowd. However this is a wake up call to me, so I’m going to really reconsider my home security.
