I grew up with guns. My father had Rugar, Winchester, some military issue rifles. We had several pistols but I had to give them to my aunt because they are illegal to have in my home state. My grandmother had a rifle that could be used by a woman or a man and had a clean shot and not that much kick back but the rifle was so old it has rusted away and is useless. It had been lost in the basement and ruined.
What would be a good brand of rifle to get that I can purchase that I can use and my girlfriend can use for home security? I was looking into Winchester or Rugar.
I am so dumb. I think the weapon that Nana had must have been a shot gun. I remember Dad showing me how to use it as a kid. That must be it. It was shorter barrel than the weapons he used for hunting that were the rifles.

Here is the sentence:
"When Military Scientests descovered that the standard issue assalt riffles were to large and slow in face to face trench combat, the submachine gun was created and put into play, these guns were as powerful as a assult rifle but the size of a second hand pistol."

There are 2 questions here, but they relate to each other.
Stories of jams in military M16/M4 rifles and civ.ARs are numerous due to it’s DI gas system. But from all I have heard most of it is due to love and care of the rifle including what kind of lubricant, how much of it, and where you put it are tremendously important. Is the military gun grease and common technique of application adequate? I have met and read of people who say their civ. ARs can run many, many rounds even dirty with a very good lube or grease and good knowledge of how to use it.
I have also heard that there are some people complain specifically about civ. Colt ARs compared to other brands. I know well that Colt has lofty standards as being mil-spec and there are people who shun any civ. ARs except them. However, combined with stories of military M4s jamming in warfare I think it is a fair question to ask if the AR/M4 design is good, but if there are certain design flaws besides possibly due to Colt designs and not DI gas system.
These are questions from a civilian who has gotten in to guns only in the last year or so and going to buy his own AR. I am not flaming the AR system, Colt, or GI gun grease. I’m just very curious and these thoughts come to mind.

What weapons were used in America in 1800-1850? Please help! 10 points for best answer.?
I need to know the specific name of the weapon. I have to know two or three weapons from each category. They are: muzzle loading muskets, types of colt revolvers, rifles, breach loading guns, and artillery.
For example, I already know a type of rifle and that is the Pennsylvania/Kentucky rifle and I know the Colt 45. I also need to find pictures of these and the prices. Also, does anyone know a site that might have this info. Please help as much as you can. PS. These don’t have to be military weapons, they can be weapons just used by the public.

Wouldn’t we be better off to just have private citizens and private industries worry about these things on their own?
Let citizens have their own guns and rifles to take the law into their own hands (like the Wild West)…let citizens buy their own fire extinguishers and hoses from private entrepreneurs and the free market….let people have doctors that visit homes like in the old days and have people solve their illnesses on their own with their families using hot water in bathtubs….the FDA is a wasteful government agency as well…just let people inspect food from grocery stores and restaurant themselves when they open it….
Let’s take our country back people! Down with the government!

Why does the military only allow 2 weapon attachments on guns? It seems if they let them use like four or five it would be better. Hear me out…….
An ACR with an EoTech and a silencer is good but, an ACR with an EoTech and a silencer and FMJ plus extended magazines is much better. Why limit the troops is it because of money? And only 1 smoke bomb but 2 flash bangs? WTF is that?

I’ve always wondered the answer to this question… If you have served in the U.S. Military and completed your service HONORABLY, do you get licenses that might be difficult for civilians to obtain for yourself? (Like the right to own/carry a handgun, last time i checked that was REALLY hard to obtain). It would make sense, right? You trained with one, you know about all the safety, you are a gun expert, you know how to do anything with one, and you were trusted with one in the defense of this nation. It just seems right. And does honorable military service also grant you the right/license to own a rifle/shotgun? I know you can’t keep your guns that you were issued because they are property of the U.S. Government, but can you be given to go off after your service and by your own guns (Handguns and Rifles/Shotguns)?

Be it gas or spring.
The guns I’m considering:
-G22 Gas rifle
-KJW M700 – althought slightly innaccurate
-UTG Shadow Ops Type 96
And we all know the CA M24 is just so rare and unpowerful that it makes no sense to try finding one.
I’m looking for power, accuracy, and stealth, and I keep coming back to the UTG Type 96.

I like the recon class a lot due to all the things you can do with it, and im fairly good at sniping however a lot of the time I want to run in and actually help my team instead of sitting back and sniping. Which of the none sniping guns that a recon class can use is the best for this?
Also I should note that I usually only play normal mode not hardcore because I like to go for headshots when sniping and I like spotting/motion mines

i need help! maybe from a current marine?. . .i want to join the military and im in between choices right now. i really want to join the marines, but the Navy is one of my choices also. Im leaning towards the marines, but there is no way I would join if i couldn’t have a job that requires me to handle firearms, like the Gunners Mate does in the Navy. is there any job that will allow me to work with guns all day in the Marine Corps? (for women)

Many countries use fences, video cameras and land mines along borders, soon machines guns will be mounted on towers, guided by lasers and ordered by programs to fire at targets within certain parameters.(people)
Should they be used on borders, should they be used at military installations, prisons and/or private areas?
Please indicate if, where and why.
I forgot to add soldiers with guns are used along borders too!

I am writing a fictional novel and would like to know if I could use the REAL names of any people, guns, or vehicles (such as JFK, the XM8 rifle, or RAH-66 Comanche) in it. I know it sounds kind of dumb but I just wanted to make sure.
Can I use the names of deceased people? Once again JFK.

I am trying to determine which Airsoft Sniper Rifle to buy. To me it doesn’t matter about the price but which gun works the most efficiently and is the most durable. I plan to mod them in the future too. I have read reviews on both guns and it seems like they get good and bad reviews. These guns I am most interested in are from Evike.com. I am looking for someone who owns or has used the exact gun to give me some advice. The guns I am looking at are:
The Matrix/Well MB06 Shadow Op bolt action sniper w/ bipod and LE stock (I added on the Scope that is available through Evike.com
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_48&products_id=32295
The UTG/CSI/TSD Type96 Shadow Ops APS2 Airsoft Sniper Rifle- OD (With the scope+bipod package thing available through Evike.com
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_48&products_id=27711
Thanks

Have as many high-powered firearms as you want. If a compliant military comes for you, you better believe there are going to send more than 1 guy to your front door. How effective is your AR15 against an Apache Helicopter? The key is what will the military do when an authoritarian government takes hold. Because, honestly, your pistols or semi-automatic rifles wouldn’t stop any military force for long. They don’t quit after you shoot one guy.
If every Jew in Germany answered the knock on door with a gun, the SS would have stopped knocking.
exactly, they wouldnt knowck, they would just shoot first. Its not Hitler would say "gosh, those Jews have some guns…ah forget it, lets just have American style freedom instead."

Guns technically have not much other purpose than to hunt or to harm people (out of self-defense or out of intent to physically harm). But in reality its just a tool. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. A knife and a car could do the same thing. It might be a really redundant tool since it has no actual real life (non-violent) application besides hunting. But I still believe that guns should be legalized. Definitely not military grade small arms such as assault rifles or explosives or incendiary rounds, that should be left to the military and law enforcement.
But however I think the American gun owning populace, should really tone down the fanaticism on the type or caliber of guns they own. They don’t need an automatic AK or 50. Cal Barrett or a Silenced UZI to go hunting deer or practice shooting or home defense. That’s absolutely absurd, that’s just the machismo of the American gun-owning man, proving they have the bigger gun.
Guns are tools, and their purpose is to even the playing field. Where a 50 (5ft) kg woman can be on even terms with a 140 (6’5ft) kg criminal. I’m saying that everyone should have guns, but everyone in the right mind should have the option to have one. It’s only the stupidity and violent people in a community that can make those who guns look bad.
I’m absolutely for banning explosives (unless it’s useful in a required field), fully automatic and silenced weapons to general public but I still think people should have rights to firearm ownership and reduce the firearms allowed to no more that 3 per person. I myself own a Sig Sauer P226 40. which I shoot and the range and clean regularly. But I will never understand the kind of person that owns a 100 round AK47 and goes around blowing up propane tanks or uses a Barrett 50. Cal to hunt deer. You don’t need a chainsaw to cut your sandwich or taking a taxi to get somewhere a block away. Thanks just irresponsible and simply overdoing it. Like I said, guns are merely a tool for defense or hunting (maybe competitive marksmanship, but that doesn’t have any real day to day life value).

I’ve always been curious where the military stores their combat equipment and weapons/ammo. Surely there has to be a locatio nwhere weapons are stored in mass quantity… if so where?
Just reading military novels where they are outfittign themselves and picking thir weapons of choice made me ask, where do they keep these guns?

Why would a person need several guns explain why someone would need 15 guns? Why would a person need an Assault Rifle? Why would a person need hundreds of bullets? What ever happened to moderation?
Like I said I can understand having a few of them, I just don’t understand why a civilian would need high powered military grade assault rifles?

I think the guns are technologically advanced, and in the case of the F2000, greatly superior to the M4′s currently jamming on our troops in their fight for civility in the middle east. The F2000 is a 5.56 chambered weapon, that has a longer barrel than the M4, but is much shorter. It uses M16 magazines, so it would fit right in with current weapons.
Or, thanks to the way the contracts work, is there no way for troops to recquisition their commanders to let them have better guns, even if they paid out of pocket for them? I’d consider my rifle worth investing in.
I have seen group photos of guys in my recruiter’s office that have weapons that i doubt are commonly issued. And it was the recruiter in the photos, not just a generic promotional photo.
I know SF are well known for giving the military beaurocrats the finger, and using whatever guns they feel best get the job done (H&K’s SCAR-L). Are they the only guys that get a choice in guns?
I’ll be doing 89D EOD in the Army, btw.

I was reading about how cowboys and lawmen in the past would often have the same caliber for their rifle and pistol so they could use the same ammo for each gun and eliminate confusion. Looking around though it’s pretty hard to match calibers today (ie. I have a 30/30 but can’t find a matching caliber handgun, esp in semi-auto). Seems this thing would be especially useful in places like the military. Truthfully I don’t know much about guns, but why aren’t there more options for using the same ammo for a rifle and a handgun? What do you think is the ideal matching set?
