Why are some people so rude to lady shooters?

October 13th, 2010 by eranio

I was talking to a few guys at the pawn shop the other day about military rifles (it was mostly one of those M-16 debates that never ends) and obviously everyone has their own opinion. Most people will say the M-16 is a weak piece of junk, but to answer this I said that the original M-16 A1 had a few little problems that once ironed out in the newer M-16 A2 (which is used currently) makes a decent rifle. I view it as the "swiss army knife" of rifles because of how versitile they are and the accesories available for them. This older gentleman laughed at me and said there was no such thing as a M-16 "A1" and that I must be confusing it with the older M1A Garand. How do you deal with people who "think" they know more than you and try to discredit you whenever you share your experience? This is just one example of something I find very common in my area.
N.E. Pats I did say "A-1" because I heard him use the term first. You are right, the proper disignation is "Alpha-1" but that confuses some people who were never in the military.

J.D, I in no way think all men are "chauvinistic" or closed minded. All the men at the range are perfect gentlemen, and so are you. Thank you for your answer.
Maker, I know exactly what you’re talking about. Those people are one of the many reasons I got out of the miltary when I did.

September 11th, 2010 by eranio

I asked earlier preference between M4/M16 and M1A and someone said that the M4 is classified as an assault rifle and the M1A as a battle rifle.

what is the difference between civilian guns and military grade guns?

April 11th, 2010 by eranio

Just wondering what the difference between military grade guns like the Beretta M9 and M14, and their civilian equivalents, the Beretta 92fs and the M1a? I’m thinking Its the magazine size and the fire control on the M14, but maybe it has to do with something in the pistons or bolts.

What average priced rifles have military style iron sights?

November 7th, 2009 by eranio

I’m looking for a .223 Remington or .308 Winchester rifle that costs between 0 and 00 and has military style iron sights as well as a mount for optics. M1A’s are a bit out of my price range and I’d rather not buy a modified California legal AR-15, but I’m still trying to buy a rifle that I can work on improving my marksmanship with an M16. Any suggestions? Thanks.
