I am in the military and i will be moving back home to California in a few months. I have a few weapons; S&W MP9, Escort 12Gauge Pump shotgun, Mosin Nagant, and an AR-15. I hear that the gun laws suck out there because the AR-15 is considered an "Assault" rifle eventhough its not full auto. is there any way around this? Can i still take my guns back home? Do I have to get a special permit? Dont really care to hear anyone’s rant about how i shouldnt have a gun cuz its dangerous cuz i hear it all the time and im keepin it one way or another. Any useful info is very appreciated.
My Life Suck- All the weapons I have are because i have personally bought them. Even the AR. The Military usually issues you the M4 and i dont think they let you keep it. but the worst they can say is no right. good luck.
Just wondering, every time on the news when I see it, it looks like an m4 or ar 15
I heard that the U.S. was going to get rid of the company that makes the M4 and M16 once the contract is done. I would like to know the company and the names of the guns they are going to go with, due to my interest in the military.
M16, M4, M14, MP5, MK23, etc.
Seriously people who cares? I am one of the many atheists that carry that very sight on their M4/M16 and guess what? It’s a great optic. It does the job and it does it well. Who cares if the owner of the CIVILIAN company wasted his money by having these verses cast into the sight? This in no way violates the separation clause.
@no1home2: Did you miss the part where I said I carry that exact sight on my assigned weapon? Trust me, it’s there.
Which makes a louder report up close and at a distance? An M4/M16/M249 in 5.56X45 or an AK-47 in 7.62X39?
Assuming the 5.56×45 has a higher chamber pressure and muzzle velocity than the 7.62X39?

Its a futuristic rifle (in development, I guess) In its default setup it fires rounds similar to an M4 or M16, but a few quick changes and the rifle can fire rounds for an AK. I saw it on tv, but I am having trouble remembering what it is and its driving me nuts.
Thanks.

I was watching the bonus stuff on Assault on Precinct 13, and saw the bloke in the van with the M4’s, and P226’s, and thought wow this is my kind of job. But I haven’t got the slightest idea how to get into that line of work. I know a lot about the military, and firearms, etc, so I think this would be a good job for me. I live in England. Please, HELP!
Is the M16 the most commonly used assault rifle in the U.S. Millitary so far? Also the M4 is basically a shortened M16, right?
I have a G&G Armament GR16 Carbine Full Metal AEG Airsoft Rifle and i want to get a launcher for it. ECHO 1 M203 Military Barrel Mounting Airsoft Launcher M4/M16 Series Long or short? Thanks.
in your opinion, which would the american military have more luck with?
M4 – the standard issue as of now. usually a fine gun in forest conditions but prone to frequent jamming in the sandy desert
AK-47 – every terrorist’s favorite. i have seen people in afghanistan dig up a couple from over ten years ago, pour a little motor-oil on it and put 500 rounds though it without a problem. somewhat bulky though but parts are dirt cheap, plentiful, and easy to repair.
please state which you think and why.
i say the AK-47 because, first off, its idiot proof. all of the mechanisms are made out of stamped metal, the barrel is chromium lined and there is just a level for a fire selector. also, it fires the heavy 7.62 cartridge, which is capable of punching through the ceramic armor plating on an average infantry man, plus the wall behind him. and the cartridge itself is much more compatible with self-disintigrating rounds, HE, and tungsten core armor piercing. And the ammunition is more widley available on the modern battlefield if the soldiers were to be cut-off from supplies
i do agree with all of you saying that the M4 is more accurate. its just that to get that accuracy, you have to trade off ease of maintainence. it requires many specialised tool, brushes and picks whilst the AK-47 only needs at most a paint brush and a bootlace
I’m 18 right now and I eventually plan to join some branch of the military at some point in time. Just about everyone in my family has served and it’s something that I want to do as well. I’m 18 now and I think the cut-off limit is 30 so I have until then which is 12 years. I dont know but for some reason when I join I want things to be different, instead of using the same weapon my dad used over 30 years ago. I always here and see all these concepts of what our military will be equiped with in like the year 2015 and so on but it’s 2007 now and I don’t see anybody with vizors coming over there face giving them an HUD of all there surroundings and there squad. Also how much longer are we going to use the M16/M4 weapons?? I know they are excellent weapons but we have used them for a long as hell time right now. When are we going to switch over to a gun like the SCAR Assault rifle or the HK416? Anytime in the next 12 years maybe? I would be a hell of alot more excited to sign up if so.
Hah yes I know that is a quite absurd reason not to join. I think I’m going to spend about the next 8 years getting in the best shape possible and then join up when I’m about 26. I went to military school 8th through the 10th grade so I have shot civillian grade M16’s so I kind of have somewhat of a feel for the actual weapon. I want to eventually try out for the special forces in my army career. I know what it’s like to go through hell. We had an "elite" cadet program that was extremely rigorous and I learned alot through that. It’s all really just in your head. I hate to imagine what Special Forces training is like but atleast I have had a taste of what "hell training" is like. I think by the time I’m 26 If I’m in good shape I will be alot more mentally prepared for something like that. That way I can get a hand on something besides the damned M16. Thanks for the replies so far and I respect you all who have served to protect my freedom. Hopefully one day I’ll do the same. Thanks
To me the m4 seems like not to good of a gun. What do you guys/girls think? It almost seems that the m16 was better than the m4.
I was watching Future Weapons one day and on this particular episode they covered a "new" assault rifle. In the episode they said that it was smaller and lighter than the standard m4, and also has the ability to switch into a sniper rifle. Well I was wondering what the name of this particular rifle was. Can anyone help me out?
It also resembles a m4 or m16 if that helps
What is your favorite assault rifle? And, what should be the next rifle to replace the M16/M4? Should the US military stop using 5.56mm rounds and upgrade to the 6.8mm?
Ok, I was always wondering this so now I am going to ask. If you are a soldier in the Army or marines, when you get deployed into the middle east and go into combat, do you pick what your primary weapon is,(like a SAW machine gun, the m4 or m16) the mods on the gun, and how your gear is arranged?(such as the vest magazine pouches and things like that.) Or do the commanders or whoever is in charge of that stuff do it all for you.
If you had to choose between an AK-47, M4, or M16 assault rifle in a combat situation, when your enemy was anywhere between 20 and 150 yards away from you, which would you choose? Please enumerate your reasons, and please let your explanation contain more than the phrase that “such and such rifle sucks or is awesome”. Thank you.
I’m a little curious about how much they weigh and I heard the M4 is lighter than a Tar-21 assault rifle.
Is it true?
The primary weapon for the army is a M16 pretty common. Its old still reliable and has great accuarcy but isnt it time to get a upgrade? It just might be the cost of the contract or something. Thanks peeps.
Oh yeah the m4 sorry im just a little sleepy today.
Good point with the computer, Nice simile, I never thought of that.
I have noticed that in a lot of the pictures I am seeing a lot of the soldiers have M4’s and M16’s with modified sights and not the normal iron sight that is seen so frequently in movies and in documentaries. And I am also interested in joining the military so I was just curious about how they go about modifying their weapons. Thanks.
In Call of Duty 4, which assault rifle do you prefer using in multiplayer – the M4 or G36c? Could you also explain why you prefer one over the other? Does one have a greater range than the other? Does one have a greater impact than the other? Does one have a greater accuracy than the other? Does one have a greater rate of fire than the other? Thanks, in advance, for all of your answers.
After you serve your tours, do you still get to keep your army issued m4 or watever you got? or does the army want it back???
