I just talked to my BRO whose in the USAF and I’m one my I phone and he said that the USAF uses the m16 and so does the marienes but his unit he will use the m4

So is the m4 replacing the m16

He just said the m4 was almost if not the same besides the collapsable stock

How much longer do you think the m4/m16 will be the primary rifles of the US military

I understand that M4, M16s are the standard issue. But how come some people have m14s, m249s,m240s, etc? Can you select one and attempt to qualify for it? Or do you get what you get and no changing?

I am planing on getting a gun. I served in the israeli military as a volunteer and have recently returned to the US. I am an american citizen. I learned how to use and operate a large number of firearms and was required as a combat soldier to carry my weapon with me at all times. I have since been released and returned home to the united states and as result of having to carry one everywhere i went it feels unsettling to be without. I have no desire to buy an M4 a simple hand gun will suffice but do not want to break any laws. what is required to buy a hand gun in new jersey? what is required to get be able to carry it on my person? how do i get such licenses? what restrictions are there? and what are the laws of the surrounding states (New York and Pennsylvania) are there different laws for urban areas? do i have to file for permits from these states as well or will NJ permits be accepted?

like say i wanted to use a HK416 or a fn scar instead of my m4, would i be able to purchase one and use it. I was watching the show generation kill, which was based on what a reporter saw while he was traveling with a group of recon marines in iraq, and one of the team leaders picked up an ak and started using it as his weapon. the only problem the others had with it was that since it was an ak, every time he fired it, it would sound like enemy fire.
if not a rifle, could you buy something like an mp7 and use it as a sidearm or something like that?

I see pictures all the time of some Army infantrymen with M203′s, on either the M-16′s or M4A1′s.

Then you have the old M-14 I see once in a while.

Then various versions of Colt-like sniper rifles.

Do you have to be "sniper" qualified to be issued a sniper rifle? What about an M203 attachment? And how would you know weather or not you will be issued an M4 over an M-16?

You know the saying "This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine……", well, does it vary per branch, or do you always get re-issued your rifle you first laid hands on since in basic every time until get meet a certain criteria or something?

Also, for the accessories, some are issued to soldiers with scopes, lights, lasers, 4-grips, the list goes on. Is it just a random choice of the weapon holders on base (or whatever they are called) that give an issued rifle to a soldier? And, do you always get your EXACT same issued rifle back to you when you report for duty? Or does the gun-cage just hand you the same type but not the same exact gun(s) and or/sidearms every time you report for Duty?

I am mainly asking about the US Army above all other branches. I am very confused about how that all works. I know if you are a Ranger or are in Spec. Ops you would have specific loadouts for the hightened tactical sense to it. Like the rold\e of a Sniper, would need to be issued a sniper every time he has to report for duty.

1 more question, if someone got the Marksman award in basic training in the Army, would that grant them certain weaponry? Or just a plain M4 with no sights or anything on it like every new recruit? And if getting Marksman in basic, and with added Airborne school, after 11X training would you have a better chance of making the 11B (Infantry) or would that have no influence of what the Army chooses yoyr MOS to be? Shouldn’t be it the SLOWER GRADUATES that go to 11C not mix-match them?

And I am ashamed the M9 is the standard issued sidearm. Why can’t we have Glocks or Colt 1911′s?? Seriously, even for basic infantry, they should move on from those lame M9′s.

An M4/M16 shooting 5.56 x 45mm, an AK-47 shooting standard round, or an AK-74 shooting standard.
Doesn’t the 5.56 flip on impact and do more damage in the body?

An example would be if a was a rifleman who was issued an m4, but i wanted to use a AK-47 or a G3. I have seen pictures of the military with different weapons.

Like fully automatic military weapons. I’m asking this because I have seen alot of youtube videos of americans and they have a like an Ak-47, M4, ect. If there allowed, can they just carry it around, like a someone would do with a handgun. Do they need a special paper saying they can carry it? And what would be the point of even having one?

I’m new to airsoft, and I don’t know how much I should spend on an assault rifle. I’m looking for something such as the M4 or M16. I’m not really too big of an AK guy and the ones that resemble the SCAR-H seem pretty expensive. Which are the best ones and what is a reasonable price?

1.) The M16/M4 pretty much explode after submerging them in water. Don’t believe me? Check out the video.

2.) Yes, it’s accurate. But in urban combat situations, I need something that can put the enemy down without a doubt in my mind. .223 vs. 5.56/.306 is a huge leap.

3.) Obviously, if I wanted to buy my own weapon and use my own weapon, I wouldn’t expect the government to buy me the ammunition. I would buy everything I needed.

4.) You are all assuming that you think I’m soooo special. When really, I would just like my chances of surviving to be -that- much better. So fuck off.
