I was just watching "The First 48" and a woman told the detectives the types of guns she owned and among like a 9MM (which is okay if you have a permit and aren’t a convicted felon, right?), she also said she owned like 3 machine guns. She was not in the military. I didn’t think they were legal except for military personall on duty and some police officers. So, what are the laws regarding this? THANKS!
Don’t worry, I don’t think they are "cool" LOL, I don’t even like BB guns.

Does the right to bear arms mean that gun owners should have the right to own military weapons? Does it mean that machine guns, 50 ca.sniper rifles ak 47s m16s etc are included in the bill of rights ? where do we draw the line on COMMON SENSE and responsible gun ownership ? why do some groups always take it to the extreem?

Seeing how the FBI fights terrorism in the country, do they have access to military weapons such as heavy machine guns like the M-60. Field artillery, hand grenades, grenade launchers, Apache guna, etc?
I would assume they have ACCESS to it if needed, but don’t use it on a regular basis due to putting innocent lives at risk.
Same question can be asked for other federal agencies, such as the DEA or ATF

I don’t mean one guy, I mean swarm of THOUSANDS of Taliban and Al Qaeda with loads and loads and loads of machine gun ammunition.
And they circle the US Army and started firing machine gun bullets at US Soldiers from every angle. The US army would be totally caught off guard, right? I mean EVERY angle they’re being fired by Taliban with hundreds of rounds of ammunition?
Wouldn’t the US Army be forced to surrender? The US Army wouldn’t have thousands of machine guns. Or do they? If they were surrounded from ALL sides by a ring of Al Qaeda?

This is another question by my grandson. He loves all things military, so any information you folks can give him will be appreciated.
He isn’t talking about the first submarine used in war. Just the first submarine, period.
Can you provide us with the links where you get your information? He loves to read up on this stuff.
Thank you.
The info I found about Italy indicated it was used in basically recon type stuff. I found no reference to them having machine guns mounted. Can you send me a link so I can read about that? I want to be fair about the points. If I don’t get an answer in time, I’ll just leave it open for voting. Thank you.
The info I found indicated it was the French who first MOUNTED guns to an airplane. Fokker found a way to keep from shooting the propellers off when the guns were fired.
I’m quite willing to be corrected on any misconceptions I may have voiced (or typed) here.
We do have a correct answer about the submarine.

I’ve been thinking and I was curious about the differances for woman who serve. I know that woman can’t fly planes or operate machine guns right? If a woman was to join the national guard right now lets say…would she have to go to iraq right away and what types of jobs would they offer her in the guard or military for that matter?
do woman have as great a chance of death in the military or do they get jobs that aren’t as great a risk of being killed?
if any woman in the military now or who have been can give me an honest answer.
also what was the experience like..? did you like it? or was it the worst mistake you ever made?
well i enjoy my life and i’m extremely scared of dying. I’m also extremely passive and wish i was more authoritive. I command no respect whatsoever and always wished i could. I also always wanted to be a chef. I’m not too old now but certainly very broke…actually pretty in debt. the military has a lot of things to offer for somebody like me…self esteem, sense of purpose, a career to fall back on other than what i do now…but i don’t agree with the war in iraq and i’m terrified of death plus i have somebody who cares about me very much who i also love a lot too and i don’t like being away from them for too long…

I have seen people on youtube with fully automatic, military grade assault rifles and machine guns, and they were manufactured fairly recently, making it seem illegal to own due to the 1986 law that banned all weapons made after that year or w/e. How do they legally obtain them?

At first I just wanted to join the army for the sweet hunting clothes. But now I figure if I join the military, I want to fly jets, shoot cool machine guns, and drive tanks. I also want my own Hummer with the machine gun on top of the roof.
What branch should I join if I want to fly jets, shoot cool guns and drive tanks? And don’t forget I want a hummer.

The more advanced our rifles, shotguns, and machine guns get the less reliable and more likely to jam they become. I’d rather have a Winchester 1873 or a Model 1887 Shotgun than a M-16/M-4. At least my gun won’t jam every few magazines or if a piece of dust gets into the gun. Don’t even get me started on Semi Auto Shotguns. The M60 isn’t exactly reliable either. The ironic thing is, the fancier your gizmos get, the less reliable and prone to failure they become. Plastic guns (like the plastic cars) of today cannot ever hope to live up to the legacy as the weapons that won the west.
legacy of the*
Did I say anything about COD? Nice try getting out of the fact modern guns are unreliable pieces of crap. Oh, and by the way, I’m pretty sure the outside of an M-16 is plastic. It looks pretty plastic like to me.
Also I never said anything bad about the AK. It is still far better than our weapons. It’s a prime example of NOT JAMMING.

The article said "machine guns" but im not totally sure what that means. I would guess that means automatic, but in some places, guessing gets you killed…. I’m not looking to get mine just yet, as i need to do more research before i commit on doing anything. I am a gun enthusiast (as im sure im not alone :^) and would just like to get filled in on this subject matter. Thanks for any replies!

Like something with the history, how it’s made, internal/take down view, ect… Just a bunch of information about rifles, pistols, machine guns, ect… I’m mostly interested about guns during the WWII time period, but something that had all guns (military especially) would be great.

I’ve played enough "Call of Duty" and "Medal of Honor" to familiarize myself with a few of the sniper rifles of World War II. But could any of those sniper rifles have been fitted with silencers back then?
I read that the Nazis had silencers for certain types of machine guns. But what about the sniper rifles?
Even if it wasn’t practical to use in combat situations, was it possible? Did silencers for sniper rifles exist in the 40s? Even if it were just for state-side civilian or police use?
Any details would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
What exactly is a "grease gun"? Was that something they would’ve had back in the 1940s?

I’ll rank them from least combat effective to most and you just draw the line or voice your opinion. I’m looking to get a concensus of see what people think on this. Preferably draw the line between two weapon types. I’ve left the list BROAD. Don’t take it as a joke please.
no weapons should be legal for the US military to own, Bottle Rockets, BB guns, Bow & arrows, medeival throwing devices like catapults and trebuchets, low powered rifles(22), shotguns, semi-automatic handguns, high powered hunting rifles, sub-machine guns, assualt rifles/sniper rifles, machine guns, hand grenades, RPG’s, combat vehicles like tanks, scud missiles, fighter jets, chemical and biolotical weapons, nuclear warheads, ultra small and powerful but not yet existent antimatter bombs, or there should be no laws against US military possession of weapons…
You may also argue that I have them in the wrong order if your line can’t be drawn.

I’ve always thought that the indigenous empires of the New World would have easily resisted European arrival with more advanced technology. I play with stick figures that i draw, one side in native, another is european, and the natives have machine guns. do you think that the Europeans would have easily succumbed if the Natives had modern technology?
