Does marine corps MCT train in all weapons as an Infantryman?

March 30th, 2011 by eranio

Let me understand this better. All marines and soldiers receive weapons training in all military weapons (M249, M-4, M209 ect…) during basic training. Then non-infantry marines attend MCT after bootcamp to get further training in all military weapons; while non-infantry soldier’s go to their intelligence training. The weapons training received in MCT is not as ((detailed)) as the weapons training an infantryman would receive, be it marines or army; because their not grunt’s. But is this training even close to what infantrymen receive? Can somebody explain the difference in training course a non-infantry marine receives verses the training an infantryman receives.
So they basically receive the same training as an infantryman; only infantrymen’s training is longer.

Can You enlist in the Marines just for the training and then leave?

March 28th, 2011 by eranio

I decided against going to the military but I was wondering.. Since I am not a very fit person and I want to be fit and have the ability to use various kind of firearms can I enlist to be a Marine just for the training and then Quit?

I heard the U.S Marines are one of the deadliest fighting units so I want the training to toughen up myself.

Question about military rifles?

March 13th, 2011 by eranio

In the new movie "Invasion LA," the Marines are using rifles which I assume are M16 rifles. One the top, there is a scope, and at the end is a ^ shape which I guess is the "sight." Between the scope and the ‘sight’ there is a rectangular-shaped, grey-colored object, possibly metal, which when the camera is filming toward the gun barrel, has 2 holes on one side and one hole on the other side.

Any one know what that is for?

PS Absolutely incredible pro-Marine movie.

Us military questions(read on)?

March 3rd, 2011 by eranio

So I was reading a military forum about the M4. And it said they had a survey to see how the soldiers like the M4 90% were happy and 80% were happy with the M16A4 in the marines. And the competitors are going up against the NEW M4A1. And with all of the money in the AR15 and it’s rounds. I dont see it being replaced.

Question:Do you think the M4 will be replaced by any of the rifles at the 2011 replacement competion?

Question:How many more years will we use the M4 and M16A4 as our primary rifles

i figured you guys would know, seeing as you are military and what-not?

February 24th, 2011 by eranio

i just ordered an accuracy international arctic warfare rifle. it is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. bolt action, 10 round magazine.

my only problem is, i have no idea where to even start looking when it comes to finding the right scope. i am going to be shooting at distances up to and beyond 1000 yards. it is not competition, i am going to be shooting at a live target (medium – large game). what type of scopes do you fellas in the Marines, Army, etc use when it comes to "sniper" rifles?
k buddy you can try answering the question i asked with an answer and not questions…but for the sake of argument yes i am extremely accurate with iron sighted weapons.

Why are so many Military Helicopters shot down in Iraq over the past four weeks?

December 29th, 2010 by eranio

A U.S. helicopter was shot down and crashed north of Baghdad on Wednesday, the military said after initially stating that the chopper made a "hard landing." All aboard were safely evacuated by a second helicopter and all had brown stains on the rear of their uniforms.

At least seven U.S. helicopters have crashed or been forced down under hostile fire since Jan. 20. Military officials have said that militants are increasingly targeting helicopters amid the buildup of U.S. troops in Baghdad, firing simultaneously with an assortment of weapons from different directions. The Army and Marines admit the insurgents are amazing. They ( Insurgents) never give up. The Iraq war may end up like another Vietnam.

what is there to do other than the army, navy, coast guard, Marines, and air force, military wise?

December 15th, 2010 by eranio

i was medically DQ’d from the Marines for minor cerebral palsy. i seriously don’t know what the fuck to do with my life now. all i have trained and studied for is the military. no exaggeration, for the past 8 years (i am turning 19 on the 28th). i get so upset with the circle of thoughts in my head. everyone that knows me thinks i just p*ssied out and withdrew from enlisting. half of my graduating class from high school (2009) has enlisted in the Marines. now everyone thinks i am always going to be a balless civilian. i am ashamed to be stuck as a civilian, and have no military background. it makes me overwhelmingly enraged to think about the fact that i am going to go through my entire life without any military background, while half my class is going to be retired Marines with tons of stories to tell, and be respected by every beautiful girl and guy. you may think of me as just a stupid teenager, but you honestly could not understand how much i wanted this unless you could literally be inside my thoughts. i don’t know what to do. my grand kids. they’re going to be like "Daddy, was grandpa ever in the military?" and then he will say no, and my grand kids will just think of me as a weak and soft old man. i have ALWAYS wanted to have a USMC funeral when i die. now i cant. i cant because of this fucking cerebral palsy. there really is no point to my life now. all i am capable of doing is grunt infantry dirty work with a rifle and hand grenades. those are the only talents i have. combat talents. defensive and offensive thinking and maneuvering, weapon techniques, marksmanship, hand to hand combat, exercise and endurance, teamwork, no man left behind thought process, that is all i have. outside of combat i have shit for brains in the civilian world. i bet anybody anything that i cant get into any college when they look at me and see how much i am unmotivated to sit in a god damn class room. my place is out in the field. and to top that off, there is no job for me that pays well that doesn’t require college. **** being a police officer. i dont want to be a cop. cops are so looked down on by everyone it is disgusting. don’t get me wrong i would do college in a heartbeat. but i don’t know what the hell to major in. all i like is combat. i don’t know what my question is. i just have no one to vent to.
i can never claim the title Marine and wear the uniforms with pride. i cant get the brand and dog on my arm.
exactally what i expected from you ass hole veterans (darsh, scout). to bad you didnt get your heads blown off.
i would love to slit your throats. thank God we all are behind a computer.
*you should thank God we are all behind a computer

Is it me or does the military always coin funny or just weird acronyms?

December 9th, 2010 by eranio

Like naming a rifle PHASR, and it really does look like some sort of phaser, or a HEAT missile, which means High-Explosive Anti-Tank, or a lot of casual ones even involving swearing(soldiers and Marines do it a lot anyway) like Special High Intensity Training, or just excuses like STEAL = Strategically Taking Equipment to Another Location(not that common though), and still end up having some sense, though some are just slightly related to what they mean, like the HEAT I said earlier.

So is it me or does the military have a knack for acronyms?

Which job in the military is for me?

December 3rd, 2010 by eranio

I want to join the military as a medic, or something related to being an EMT/Paramedic. I was looking at Army 68W, Navy Corpsman, Coast Guard AST, and Air Force Pararescue. I’ve also wanted to join the Marines for the longest time, even though I wanted a career as a paramedic. The Marines are just such an amazing group of men and women. But they don’t have any medics within their own branch. I would want to be in combat, with a rifle. Not in a hospital, or on a ship. Out of everything I listed, which job would suit me best, in your opinion? Thanks

Why do people want the Military immediately deployed to AZ for one case that is still under investigation?

November 26th, 2010 by eranio

This question is referring to the AZ Rancher shot & killed by the border. They haven’t arrested anybody, they have no leads, no witnesses but people are quick to say that it was an illegal Mexican, and then want the Military deployed for one case that is still open. Do they not know, or want you to forget what happened the last time we had Military at the border? An 18-year old boy was shot and killed while herding his sheep.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,64092,00.html

– On May 20, 1997, Esquiel Hernandez was herding sheep on his family’s farm just inside the U.S.-Mexican border in Redford, Texas. U.S. Marines patrolling the border for drug smugglers spied Hernandez and his pre-World War I rifle (which he used for scaring off wild animals) and shot him in the back, killing him. Hernandez had no drugs on him.

I want to join the military and took the AVSAB practice test. Personal history DQ'd for Corpsmen option.?

November 12th, 2010 by eranio

I got an 80 on the practice test and the Navy recruiter said that it was good.
I told him I wanted to do Hospital Corpsmen and he said that since I was arrested (not convicted, not on record) when I was 15 for marijuana that I would be disqualified from that (as they are responsible for drugs/anesthetics).
It was kind of a disappointment since I’ve been a straight edge kid for six years (in fact, since that day I haven’t smoked a cigarette or taken a sip of alcohol, I am very against drug use).
He said there was no waiver or process to even request a waiver in that situation.
He said I could enlist and after two years request to switch over to Corpsmen though and that it wouldn’t be that hard as long as they had room for more Corpsmen.
My intention was to be a Corpsmen and then be attached to a Marine Corps infantry unit.
This was I could experience the sea and ground. And help Marines in combat survive.

Anyway, assuming I score an 80 percentile on the actual ASVAB and my line scores are solid, what other similar or interesting jobs would I still qualify for besides Corpsmen while waiting for the change to lateral into it?
Anything on the ground or fixing/manning guns/artillery on a ship?
(I’m not just looking to shoot people/things, I just happen to be a firearms enthusiast and fixing guns is one thing that I’m actually pretty good at, besides writing and reading.)

Would I be better off seeing what the Army could do for me? I really had my heart set on being a Corpsmen attached to a Marine unit though….

What does anyone know about the M16 Rifle?

November 9th, 2010 by eranio

My nephew loves anything military. He wants to join the army and be a scout. He is eleven and this is the question he wanted to put on here. Any military guys, or girls, out there have any info at all on the history or logistics of the M16, please let me know. Thank You!
Just wanted to let the anti-gun nuts on here know that my nephew is actually home schooled and they don’t allow uneducational television in their home! His interest in the military comes from a long family history of military members, Air Force, Marines, and Army, so if you are offended just don’t answer. He just wants to be educated on something that has been a part of his family for generations!!

Silver Stars without Champagne: Why is the legal drinking age 21?

October 27th, 2010 by eranio

In the United State, citizens get more rights as they get older: When one turns 16, they can get a provisional drivers license. At 18, they become "legal adults" and they get the right to buy firearms (but not handguns), pornography, tobacco, spray paint, lottery tickets, and most importantly, the right to vote and the right to serve in the military.

Now why is it that an 18 year old can join the military, recieve Silver Stars and Purple Hearts for valor in combat, but cant come home and go to a bar in downtown Washington, DC? How come the US government can trust the 18-21 age group with owning firearms, bearing the burden on defending freedom, and choosing the nation’s leaders but can’t trust them with the responsibilty of drinking alcohol? What is the reasoning behing this logic and why did the US government change the law back in the 70′s from 18 to 21? Why did the government feel they had to hold federal highway funds from states that didn’t obey?
And for all the morons who don’t know anything about anything… Purple Hearts are awarded for being WOUNDED in combat, not necessarily dying (but you do get one for that, too) My 83 year old grandfather and former 101st Airborne paratrooper recieved two.

The question is why can an 18 year old enlist in the Marines, serve 2 tours in Iraq, get his arm blown off, and not be able to come back home and have a drink? Why am I able to choose the leaders of my country but not be able to have a drink? Doesn’t it seem to you that the legal drinking age is suspiciously misplaced when compared to the more serious right you get when you are younger?

U.S. Army or the Marines Corps?

October 25th, 2010 by eranio

I’m a 17 year old eagle scout from a upper middle class portion Long Island with a 3.5 gpa. I have no desire to go into college and I actually want to join some form of military to assist those who are defending our freedom. I feel as if I live in an incredibly sheltered life and I just want to get away from it all. I’ve got mixed philosophies about life ranging from nihilism, what might be viewed communism, existentialism, and agnosticism. I’ve grown a large interest in firearms and the military in general. Can someone maybe talk to me about this or give me a suggestion as to where I should go with this? my sn is JMCarroll1991 if you want to im me.
I appriecate the answers but a little detail would be nice.
Half bro is in the marines by the way, really put his life on track. He is currently enrolled in the New York City police acedemy.
I’ll define my social beliefs to clear it up a bit.

Nihilist: everything is based on perception and therefore there is only nothing. I usually seek a means out of this mind set by devoting large amount of thought to specific subjects.

Communist: I believe people are all equal and all are thus all worthy of respect. I believe that people are all basically the same, with only our backgrounds and how we grew up making us who we are.

Existentialist: We live, we die. Why not try to get the most out of it. Religion is simply a lie to give us some type of false sense of purpose. Life should be about achieving personal goals above all.

Are other branches of the U.S. Military going to be using the SCAR rifle anytime soon?

October 16th, 2010 by eranio

So far from what I know, is that Army Rangers are the only force to be using this new rifle (Replacement to M4/M16). I could be wrong, I’m just going on what I heard and read about in articles. I was wondering if any other service members have been using it such as regular infantry (Marines or Army) or any other spec ops like PJ’s, SEALs or Force Recon.

And I would also like to know when you think it will be a standard issued weapon to regular service members besides special operation units.

My future in the military?

October 11th, 2010 by eranio

I’ve decided to join the military and been gathering as much information as i can. From this information i noticed a lot of opportunities for me in the service but i want to make sure that i don’t go in one bit blind to reality.

So first off, my branch of choice is the Marine. I’ve always been into the law enforcement/Justice/military/war and during my senior year ohigh schoolol i sat down and really tried to find my place in the world. I asked myself, "What am i good at?", and all i could think of waget inin into trouble and hurtin people. So i started speaking to family and friends from all the military branches and their pride and love for what they do is admirable and some even turned their lives around for the better.

With one foot alrdy in the door and stopped and realized i cant go in blindly like im sure most people do. So as i researched i learned about alot pros and cons, but for me everything was brighter then my current path.

Reconnoissance/Scout Sniper/Pararescue were the 3 specialty jobs that i know would fit me best.(I know these arent MOs’s and are privelages/indoc positions but its go hard or go home)

Went to the local recruiter office and sat down with 1 of the recruiters and listened to his BS for about 30 mins, he obviously was a deskboy his whole life and cared nothing for the upcoming marines futures. But i managed to speak to another recruiter who offered to let me take the ASVAB which i thought could only be taken after paperwork and such. After i took the ASVAB i got my scores with no clue how to read and went right to my recruiter to have him explain it. I scored a 92 and was told that is exceptionally high and would stand with me for 2 years.

I’m starting college in janurary and will be majoring in liberal arts till i decide on a major in engineering or criminal justice. Although i plan of making the military into a career, reality is if i get hurt and can no longer serve, being infantry really isnt much for my resume.

So now to my main purpose/questions,

#1) Although my leadership skills are great i dont want to be an officer, should i take college before the military or in the military or if possible associates before and finish my bachelors inside?

#2) Realistically how much longer and harder is it to get college credits while in the miltary?

#3) What events will i be limited to when it comes to visiting family (Death, Ilnessnes etc.) and will i always be able to be their for my family in emergency cases?

#4) How do i get into military schools such as Marksman School/Survival School/SERE, etc.?

#5) I’ve been long range rifling for about 2 years, with my remington 700 30-06, should i stop to try and drop any bad habits i might of learned since the military will surely teach me how to shoot all over?

There is so much more i’d like to know and say but i’ve asked enough on here, If you have any questions or just wish to help guide me further please email me at

NexGenMarine@yahoo.com
Response to oscar d: If only I were that lucky.

Response to Eric A: The reason I dont want to be an officer right off the bat is because i feel theres so much more for me to gain as an enlisted and alway have the opportunity to be a mustang!

I have tried not to overlook any of the branches but right to my questions.

#6) Either while on active duty or when re-enlisting is moving between the branches possible/common for those who make the military into a career?

#7) If i am injured and cannot serve any longer do i still recieve the intuition money and bonus to school myself or does this void the contract somehow?

#8) Are there any public rifling schools that are military controlled cause i love to shoot but only if im gonna shoot properly?

#9) I’ve only purchased a ruck-pack and been doin 1.5-2mile walks with 25-30lbs in it to strengthin my odd muscles and get used to those nasty shin splints. Is there anything else i can do to put myself ahead of the rest?

Is the military so arrogant that it'd rather lower standards than make itself attractive to fit, smart people?

October 4th, 2010 by eranio

People who aren’t desperate and can do other things refuse to join the military because it’s organized like garbage, takes advantage of Guard/Reserve with multiple long-term deployments and stop-loss, and puts soldiers/airmen/sailors/marines in danger when it doesn’t have to.
So yeah, instead of fixing all that, let’s just lower the requirements so that those are even LESS qualified to lead men and hold weapons can drag it down some more.
