Where online can i find the latest updates in technology?

December 22nd, 2010 by eranio

In my thirst for knowledge, I am seeking the latest of technology. Any site that updates regularly with the most recent advances. Since technology is always advancing quickly, a site that is also quick at getting updates would be great. One aspect in particular is the latest computer parts and news. I simply do not know where to look. Does anyone have a site to recommend?
Other areas can include military weapons, space expeditions and general advances in science.

Thank you.

What does world peace mean to developed countries?

December 17th, 2010 by eranio

So I’m writing a speech about world peace and the arms race. I want to know what people think world peace would mean to developed countries? How would it affect the developed world, countries like the US, Britain, Australia, New Zealand? I have already thought about the fact that there would be much less government spending on military/weapons. Also that we wouldn’t have soldiers serving in other countries. Can anyone think of any other ways that world peace will affect developed countries positively?

How would a naval cargo ship react to people boarding it to take over?

December 12th, 2010 by eranio

I’m wondering it, because I am trying to write a book and need a reference. So has anyone been in the navy or know how a crew would react to it? In the book it’s a ship with military weapons and food on it.

If their were about three hundred people who stormed the ship in planes and there was no back up for the crew as well. I know it’s specific but that’s the scenario.

If there allowed, can they just carry it around, like a someone would do with a handgun. Do they need a special paper saying they can carry it? And what would be the point of even having one?
i am just curios, ty

Is it any surprise that Christians are manufacturing the death machines for the U.S. military?

Apparently, profiting from war doesn’t bother these people of "peace" and "love". But then, has history given us a reason to think it ever did?

Military Question–Ground Combat-oriented. What should we look for in choosing the next infantry rifle?

November 23rd, 2010 by eranio

In the US forces the venerable AR-15 (Colt) or M-16 has been with us for about 45 years. It has had its flaws, but has generally worked fairly well for US Marines and Army. It is lightweight, has a rapid rate of fire in full auto mode, and uses ammunition that is relatively easy to keep in supply. It has a history of jamming, but preventative maintenance can help this. Variants of the M-16 have expanded its flexibility by allowing it to be used as a grenade launcher as well as a rifle.

Obviously a rifle that is less susceptible to jamming would be desirable. What other qualities do you think ground forces need in an individual weapon?
For better or worse we have kept the M-16 since the 1960′s. Backed up by heavier machine guns it has been adequate. Frankly, I think we have kept it too long, and need a replacement. I was issued an M-16 in Vietnam, however my role didn’t include combat, so my main experience with it is maintaining it and being ready to use it. I would not have liked to go one and one against an AK-47 or similar weapon, but would have had confidence in the weapon if I was one of several people using it. Frankly, I would like to see a much better replacement for it.
A little more on why I am asking this question: I am an amateur military historian and have some knowledge of the history and uses of some types of military weapons or weapons systems. I also have a military logistics background. I have no control over what the Defense Department buys or programs in its budget. I know a great deal about the history of combat handguns, all the way back to muskets.

In World War I, the British-designed Lee-Enfield .303 was an excellent weapon, but by World War II its single bolt action was a limiting factor. The American Garand, or M1, was a better choice for American troops and this weapon served us through the Korean War as well.

Many soldiers I’ve talked to liked the descendant M14 better than the M16, but it was a heavy rifle in comparison. The M16 has given excellent service since about 1965 and replaced the M14. B.C. noted the hitting power issue. I did pick on the jamming problem. What is the best replacement for the M16?
Laser weapons or phased kinetic energy weapons are an interesting future possibility, but I don’t see them ready for procurement in the near term. The advantage of the M16 is that it is a generally proven weapon–we know its strengths and limitations.

Do gang members have military weapons?

November 11th, 2010 by eranio

I watched a documentary by Vangaurd called Fully Automatic America. The reporter showed many confiscated weapons that looked automatic and military. My brother said that those weapons only look military but they really aren’t. For instance, an AR15 is supposed to be the civilian version of the M16. I Understand that, but I wanted to know if by chance criminals have military weapons in their possession. Please list sources. Thank you!

Nonbelievers: What do you think about the "bible code" inscribed on US military weapons?

November 9th, 2010 by eranio

http://news.yahoo.com/video/us-15749625/secret-jesus-bible-codes-on-u-s-military-weapons-17700769

As an atheist, I truly don’t care what a contractor hides in a code on a weapon. I would rather see the media ignore stories like this one rather than give it credibility. What is your opinion? Are there good reasons to be concerned?

If we are so worried about Iran getting weapons, why ?

October 5th, 2010 by eranio

why is our own govt. shipping military weapons to Iran ?
"
Sanctions are intended in part to frustrate Iran’s efforts to build its military, but the U.S. government’s own figures show at least 8,000 worth of unspecified weapons and other military gear were exported from the United States to Iran during Bush’s time in office. That includes 6,635 in military rifles and ,760 in rifle parts and accessories shipped in 2004, the data shows.

Also shipped to Iran were at least ,000 in "aircraft launching gear and/or deck arrestors," equipment needed to launch jets from aircraft carriers, according to U.S. records. Iran’s navy is not believed to own or operate any carriers."

Why are we arming the axis evil ? That’s feeding evil with evil which would make us an accomplice of evil ?

What’s the reason for arming them when a conflict is possible (soon) ?

If you had a swarm of zombies coming at you, what would be your weapon of choice?

To make it interesting, no military weapons or guns are allowed. Try to be creative! The most creative answer (and the most interesting) will get the Best Answer.

My weapon of choice would be a nice Long Sword :)

What about you?

Thanks for the answers in advance!

Why was my innocent and non-controversial question deleted?

September 10th, 2010 by eranio

In the Hunting section, where the firearms enthusiasts hang, I asked if anyone would like to see a really cool firearms photo archive. I said there were many military weapons and rare guns to be seen there, or something to that effect, and gave the link.
For some unknown reason, I was violated and deleted.
There were no curse words, no discriminitory statements, no sexual inuendo, and there are no graphic or sexual images of any kind either in my question, or at the linked site, only pictures of obscure guns.
This WAS a question. It asked if the reader would enjoy seeing these images.
The responses, including one from the top contributor in hunting were very positive, with the exception of one of the early ones, which simply answered "no"(haha), and took his two points. I doubt HE violated me, as the question stayed up several more hours.
I am not an employee or sponsor of the site and am not being compensated for promoting it in any way, so I’m not fishing or spamming.
I had even given everybody a thumbs up -
- even the guy who answered "no"!
It hurt my feelings.
When you try to give folks good non-offensive questions and answers …
When you defend others on there who are being rudely treated or discriminated against ….
When you try to always give the askers the best answer you can give them …
… And get a violation notice for a fun question that was not, and did not have the potential to, harm anyone, It’s discouraging to me. I’m depressed enough of the time as it is. Maybe I need to find another hobby besides answers. This really bummed me out.
Hey here is the link.

http://securityarms.com

Click on the photo archive icon that comes up near the middle of the screen.
The extremely long page takes a few seconds to load.
Click on the name of the gun to see the image and info about it.

Do You Have Any Problems With Civilians Being Allowed Access to Military-Grade Weapons?

July 20th, 2010 by eranio

Even people in the NRA and support gun rights draw the line on military weapons for civilians.

Do you think regular people should be allowed access to machine guns, rocket launchers, mounted cannons..?

Why do people think guns are illegal in the UK?

July 13th, 2010 by eranio

We just do not have a right to bear arms here. Only certain types of firearms are outlawed such as handguns, semi-automatic, pump-action centre fire rifles, military weapons firing explosive ammunition, short shotguns that had magazines, and both elevated pump-action and self-loading rifles.

But you can obtain other firearms as long as you have a license. The catch is that it must be hard to get this license as you must have a very good reason and self protection can not be one of them. I’m guessing the elite easily gain these licenses.
