Women in the Marine Corps?

March 13th, 2011 by eranio

i need help! maybe from a current marine?. . .i want to join the military and im in between choices right now. i really want to join the marines, but the Navy is one of my choices also. Im leaning towards the marines, but there is no way I would join if i couldn’t have a job that requires me to handle firearms, like the Gunners Mate does in the Navy. is there any job that will allow me to work with guns all day in the Marine Corps? (for women)

What happens to a military sailor who's charged with domestic violence/ aggravated battery?

March 4th, 2011 by eranio

My Navy husband’s been in jail for almost four months now. He shallowly cut my throat with a hunting knife and then shot himself through the cheek with a rifle. At the time of arrest, I didn’t press charges, but the state’s still prosecuting anyway.

Does the Navy move to discharge in cases like this?
He’s an E-2 Aircraft Mechanic, and we’ve been married for eight months.

Why has the US military and law enforcement agencies chosen to buy imported firearms instead of American?

December 30th, 2010 by eranio

I know for a fact that the military is not aloud to purchase any uniform items unless 98% or more of it is made in the US. They seem to be hypocritical about this American made stuff when it comes to firearms though. I understand that some of the best firearms in the world are not made in the US, but wouldn’t you think the US would try to push our own companies to make a better weapon? For instance, the Sig P226 is used by Navy SEALs. It’s an amazing gun, but it has to be imported to the US. Why not have an American company build a gun to meet our needs and not buy from another, even allied, country? Or at least have a company build them here in the US. I’m just wondering, not arguing with, the logic behind the US buying firearms that aren’t made in America.

A few questions about the Military, need some advice?

December 16th, 2010 by eranio

Okay so I am thinking about joining the Military. Preferably the Air Force or Navy.
Can someone tell me the best position for someone who wants a lot of action, and wants to handle weapons most of the time.
I know there are different jobs in the Navy or Air Force, but what is the best for me?
Basically what i look for.
-A lot of action
-Handling firearms most of the time
-Flying in helicopters/jumping out of planes doing rescue operations.
Things like that, what advice can you give me? thanks!

Im 17/ 12th grade. want to go into Military firefighting if i enlist as one when deployed whats required i do?

December 12th, 2010 by eranio

I’m 17 about to be a senior. After graduating I would like to go into either Air force or Navy Firefighting, (Navy not as much as Air force but info is welcome on any Military experience with firefighting). I don’t mind being deployed as a firefighter, but if deployed Id like to be deployed as just that, is it possible? Or are they just going to pop a rifle in my arms and tell me it doesn’t matter that I went in to be a firefighter? I heard they would certify me as a firefighter and possibly an EMT also (or I they support my studying to be EMT certified) is this possible?

How would a naval cargo ship react to people boarding it to take over?

December 12th, 2010 by eranio

I’m wondering it, because I am trying to write a book and need a reference. So has anyone been in the navy or know how a crew would react to it? In the book it’s a ship with military weapons and food on it.

If their were about three hundred people who stormed the ship in planes and there was no back up for the crew as well. I know it’s specific but that’s the scenario.

What Branch of the Military should I join, and what MOS?

November 30th, 2010 by eranio

I’m 16, and I want to join the military. I’m very competitive, have a high SAT (around 2000 on the 2400 scale), and am in pretty good shape. I’m in NJROTC at my high school, and scored a 269 (out of 300) on my first PFT of the year, though that score is probably a bit off b/c I had mono at the time. I’m on my unit’s PT Team, Orienteering Team, and Air Rifle Team. I want to be in a combat arms MOS, but whether I’m enlisted or a commissioned officer doesn’t really matter. Any thoughts?
My grades are decent, but not great. My current GPA is 3.29. Probably not good enought to get into a service academy, but you never no…it’s their job to say "no", not mine.
And I’m male…
In response to Jeff M, I mostly like to be outside. I love things like orienteering, camping, running, playing sports, and competing at just about anything. My number one goal on a PFT (or anything else like that) is to be better than everyone else, period.
As for the PFT requirements, I did 71 push-ups in two minutes, 78 sit-ups in two minutes, and ran the 1.5 mile run (short run, I know) in 12:03. At the time I had mono, so I wasn’t really exercising regularly, although I am now. I’ve got another one coming up in April. Hope that helps, and thanks for the advice.
And as for branches, I’m thinking Army or Marine Corps, no Navy or Air Force. I’m also thinking combat arms, if that’s specific enough.

If we are so worried about Iran getting weapons, why ?

October 5th, 2010 by eranio

why is our own govt. shipping military weapons to Iran ?
"
Sanctions are intended in part to frustrate Iran’s efforts to build its military, but the U.S. government’s own figures show at least 8,000 worth of unspecified weapons and other military gear were exported from the United States to Iran during Bush’s time in office. That includes 6,635 in military rifles and ,760 in rifle parts and accessories shipped in 2004, the data shows.

Also shipped to Iran were at least ,000 in "aircraft launching gear and/or deck arrestors," equipment needed to launch jets from aircraft carriers, according to U.S. records. Iran’s navy is not believed to own or operate any carriers."

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/08/iran.us.buying.ap/index.html

Why are we arming the axis evil ? That’s feeding evil with evil which would make us an accomplice of evil ?

What’s the reason for arming them when a conflict is possible (soon) ?

Iranian Military?

September 30th, 2010 by eranio

Can all of those people out the who are supporting an attack on Iran maybe answer the following questions about the Iranian military. I’ll give the best answer to the first person who can answer them all correctly. I wont be able to tell if you wikipedia them, but you’ll know. Anyway, you all know what you’re talking about anyway, right?

1)How many soldiers are in the Iranian military?
2)What is the standard issue assualt rifle of the Iranian Army? (US equivalent = M16)
3)What is the standard issue side arm of the Iranian army? (US equivalent = M9)
4)’ ‘ force-multiplication weapon? (US equivalent = AT-4)
5)’ ‘ Sub-Mechine Gun? (US equivalent = MP5)
6)’ ‘ Main Battle Tank? (US equivalent = M1 Abrams)
7)What is the main fighter aircraft of the Iranian Air Force?
8)Does the Iranian Air Force have steath aircraft?
9)How many fighters does the Iranian Air Force have?
10)How many warships are in the Iranain Navy?

Good Luck

What weapons (vehicles) would you like to see updated?

September 4th, 2010 by eranio

If it was up to you, what would you select (air, sea, land, personell) to dedicate resources to in a 10 year plan to develop better weapons of war for the US Military.

Im sure some systems have reached their pinnacle (plane speed or payload for example) using existing tech, but some areas must be lagging behind.

Would you focus on Airforce, Navy, Army, or elements to benefit them all?
*If funding was not a issue and there was a few hundred billion thrown to the effort.

Felony Gun Control Act Waiver to Join Military?

August 6th, 2010 by eranio

It has been my boyfriend’s dream to join the Navy or Marines since he was young. He migrated to the US in 2005 when he was 18 years old but just three months later got in trouble with the law. He got caught with 0 dollars in counterfeit money and was charged with 1 count possession of counterfeit money and 2 counts of possession with intent to pass or use 0 in counterfeit money. One charge of intent to pass or use was dropped but the other along with the possession charge wasn’t. In the end, he was given 3 years of probation, 50 hours of community service and asked to pay 0 fine.

When he got arrested, he was already scheduled to take the ASVAB for the Navy. He really did not know that the money was counterfeit, it was given to him by some friends who were also arrested with him but somehow got off and were never charged with anything. He was new to the country, barely spoke the language and didn’t even have the money to get a lawyer.

He was recently released from probation and has tried to speak with recruiters from the Army and Marines, he knows that it’s impossible to join the Navy with a felony but that the Army and Marines might be possible with waivers. However, he has been quite unlucky as no one seems to want to go through the trouble of helping him.

Recently, he found a Marine recruiter who was willing to help but he said my boyfriend first needed to get a waiver of the gun control act which prevents all felons from possessing firearms but he didn’t tell us how that can be done.

If anyone could help us by giving some tips on how to go through with this, it would be great.

Firearms related jobs?

July 21st, 2010 by eranio

I want to be involved and working around firearms, and a little info about me – just graduated high school, and I’m an introvert..but not anti social! I really do well when I work by myself, but if there’s team effort, I’ll step up too. I love shooting ever since I was a kid, and a month after graduating, I decided that I want to work in this area. I’ve thought about other jobs, like computers and technology, and the medical field, but many of my family members work with firearms or related fields, and I guess that I’m in a tradition, and I love it. Many of my uncles and cousins and even one aunt are either veterans or deployed. My aunt was in the Air Force, and 2 Marine uncles and 1 uncle was a soldier, and 4 cousins deployed, one Navy, rest are Marines. The rest of my family are either gunsmiths and ranch "peeps", because we have LOTS of chicken.
I guess I wanted to explain all of that because I have these two paths – the Military or Family business. I know that it’s my choice, and I’ve talked to my family about this, and they help me out as well. But my question is, Is there other areas where I can work with Firearms? I can only think of a few–
Military or the family business. Law Enforcement. Forest/Border worker.
Can anyone please point out other jobs? Thanks in advance

July 17th, 2010 by eranio

In these days of international terrorism, should we get these gun toting bible bashers off the streets?
should the church have a para military arm?
Is there a salvation army base?

i guess the collection tins, cant stretch to a salvation air force, or navy?

What about a salvation intelligence agency? for spying on the mormons?
They could pass messages in coded hym books.

What should I do with my life? Enlisted Vs Reserve?

July 3rd, 2010 by eranio

24 College degree pretty good shape (i run a lot). No wife, kids, girlfriend, work for the family. Have a slight heart murmur but had complete medical workup and the dr said it is 100 not an issue.

I have always been a shooter (help instruct law enforcement/ military firearms classes), got into mixed martial arts and really like it.

If I was going to be a Marine I would be 0311 active duty. If I was going to go navy I would be a greenside corpsman. I would enlist reserve as that is the only they can guarantee me greenside as a corpsman. I know as a reserve corpsman I would almost hundred percent be activated.
