Is it just for the United States to use military force to prevent the acquisition of nuclear weapons by nation

December 24th, 2010 by eranio

This is for debate so if you’d don’t do LD although your insite would be appreciated it won’t be as helpful.
Anyway, I need help with aff…saying yes it is just.
Value- Justice
Criterian- Double Effect docrtine
Burden for Aff is to prove that this use of military force is justified under the double effect doctrine.
Anyone have any ideas what cards I can use, or Contentions?
Also..what do you think of the criterian? Wiki it if you dont know what it means. It’s based on philosophy but I think it’s decently strong..?

Why are so many Pro-lifers also Pro-guns, Pro-death penalty, and Pro-Military?

Hmmmmm?
Care to explain this little hypocrisy to me?
maybe I should have put this in philosophy. You are taking the question too literally. One of the Pro-life arguments is that life is sacred. By also being for the other things they show they are flexible(hypocritical) about when and how sacred it is. Pro-lifers killing abortion doctors etc.
Actually im pro-choice, pro-death penalty and think it should include sex offender, Im only against hand guns, and I have no problem with the military just the people running it. To wichitaor(whatever). You watch fox news dont you?

Question for military and firearm experts?

February 7th, 2010 by eranio

If you were in battle fighting for your life would it matter much if your weapon was an AR-15 instead of an M-16?

For those that don’t know, an AR-15 was initially manufactured from Colt who also makes the M-16. Many parts of the AR-15 are interchangable with an M-16. The M-16 has a selector switch allowing single, full auto and three shot burst. If you are isolated from your supply you will have limited ammunition which you are carrying on your back. Using full auto will deplete your ammo in a fraction of the time than using single shot mode. Are you seriously going to use full auto at a rate of 1200 rounds per minute with a few hundred rounds you are carrying? There is a philosophy on handguns that if you got six shots you make them count but if you have a large magazine you are not concerned as much about each shot because you can keep pulling the trigger as a result having a much higher miss ratio

So would it really matter to you if you had an AR-15 or an M-16?

Is it just for the United States to use military force to prevent the acquisition of nuclear weapons . . .?

January 13th, 2010 by eranio

Resolved: It is just for the United States to use military force to prevent the acquisition of nuclear weapons by nations that pose a military threat?
Would you agree or not?
Details, quotes, statistics, logical reasoning, philosophy, values, and resources would be appreciated!
I would love to get more empirical data, and more details, because so far it seems like ranting coming from some people.
