What seems to be the best gun to replace or at least limit the use of the M16/M4 in the US Military?

February 12th, 2011 by eranio

I was wondering what the best gun so far at least is best to limit the use to even replace the M16/M4 Assault Rifle for the US Military. I know the XM8 Assault Rifle was stopped being developed in 2005. I also know that the SCAR-H/SCAR-L Assault Rifle is being tested or in somewhat to decent use by the US Army Ranger 75th Regiment. I know that the Bushmaster/Remington ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) is being developed ( at least that was what it said when I goolged searched several sites about the ACR at least a month ago) and might soon enter testing when completed if still being developed. Also I know there are other guns that might be tested and maybe come into limited use like maybe the M416 I think and that there is also the light machine gun in use by the US Military which I think is called the M249 Light Machine Gun.

P.S. can you tell me if the SCAR-H/SCAR-L is in use and if it is the US Army Ranger 75th Regiment offically using it and using it instead or the M16/M4 or at least around half and half for both guns and also can you tell me if the ACR is still being developed and if it is not being developed is it rejected and forgotten like the XM8 Assault Rifle or is it being tested and maybe in limited to decent usage by the US Military.

Great.. more military spending… but some good news?

December 2nd, 2010 by eranio

http://defensetech.org/2010/10/01/army-signs-remington-to-upgrade-sniper-rifles/

If new buyers are looking for .300 win mag rifles, looks like now’s the time to buy. Surplus .300, anyone? Will that happen? I think it would be pretty nice to get 7 dollars a box on this usually expensive ammunition.
Do you agree or disagree with this decision? What cartridge do you think would work well?

Looking for a bolt action rifle with a detachable magazine.?

November 12th, 2010 by eranio

I am looking for a bolt action rifle chambered in .308 Win. (7.62×51) that has a detachable magazine. Preferably a military spec/style model. I have looked at some of Remington’s military models (700p, M24, M40) but have not been successful in finding a rifle with the detachable box magazine. Answers would be widely appreciated.
Cheers, and keep your powder dry!

Is it true that some of the 700 series Remington rifles go off by themselves?

November 2nd, 2010 by eranio

Did anyone see the October 20, Remington under fire CNBC program where the military showed the rifle going of too easily. I like their shotguns but i may put off the purchase of a 700 series rifle.
What do you think and what is your experience.

Whats a good Assault Rifle (Airsoft) that wont break easily and is relatively cheap?

October 19th, 2010 by eranio

I have an airsoft Remington Tac 1 shotgun, but I want to upgrade to a good electric assault rifle, that is on the cheaper side (no more than 0)
Would a good Scar Light be in the mix?
Any other suggestions are welcome.

What is a good sniper rifle for competition?

September 11th, 2010 by eranio

I am not talking about the heavy stuff the army uses, I mean stuff available to the public i have heard the Remington (forgot the number) modified bolt action that everyone practically has used for hunting is still regarded as the best.

Could you see the US Military switching to a rifle with a bullpup design in the nearish future?

August 22nd, 2010 by eranio

Something like the L85 or AUG. Maybe one with a heavier round like the 6.8 mm Remington.

Also, I don’t play video games so don’t call this a CoD question.
I am talking about the next 10 or so years.
I don’t think money should be considered much of a concern as we do account for about half of the worlds total military spending at 700 billion US dollars
Xeno, I believe you mean XM-8 as I can find no references to MX-8 anywhere, and that is neither bullpup nor .308 caliber, this may not be a CoD question but that was a CoD answer.
What?, Thats not what I meant, we have the best funded military the world over, if we want to switch to a bullpup rifle we can even if it does cost a bit more than an M16. China, the UK, Australia, and France have all switched and all have much less funding than we do.
Also, sarcasm sure as hell isn’t going to help illustrate your point, its just so f*cking annoying.

Who thinks the Bushmaster ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) will be the next standard issue rifle of the military?

June 21st, 2010 by eranio

I have seen videos of this rifle, it is excellent. It can shoot .223, 5.56x45mm NATO, and the 6.8 Remington. Here is a link to the site http://www.bushmaster.com/acr/#/intro. Take a look, make an opinion, and give me an answer.

What is the best military 1911 pistol?

May 26th, 2010 by eranio

I’m asking about brands and eras. How does the colt differ from the remington from the ithica? What kind of accuracy is typical of these wartime models? What changes were made from the WWII to the Vietnam guns?

(FIREARMS) What is the difference between the Remington ACR and the Bushmaster ACR?

April 12th, 2010 by eranio

What is the difference between the Remington ACR and the Bushmaster ACR? I heard that the Remington ACR is designed for the military and will be select fire, and the Bushmaster will be for civilians and will be semi-auto only.
