Why do people think civilians could never beat the military?

December 22nd, 2010 by eranio

If some insane battle broke out where the military turned on it’s own country, why do so many people think the civilians of the united states could never beat the military? I think that idea is downright absurd. Despite the militarys arsenal, civilians have access to 50 caliber firearms, among other destructive devices. Explosives? A local construction company may have access to some explosives powerful enough to destroy 10 city blocks. Tanks? Again, take a bulldozer, load up an automatic machine on it, armor plate it, and you have yourself a tank. It’s been done. Not to mention, there is an estimated 1,426,713 people serving on active duty today. Compare that to the estimated 304,095,000 people living in the country. The numbers are highly on our side. Let’s not forget our police forces, including federal agencies and their weaponry. Remember, the same companies who sell weapons to military may also sell them to civilian law enforcement.

Never underestimate the power of a militia consisting of millions of people in a time of distress.

What is your take on this? What are your counter arguments to mine?
Technically, the feds are civilian agencies, so they’d be on the civilians side in this hypothetical argument.
Do non civilians have Apache attack copters? Maybe not, but non civilians know how to build rocket launchers. At least some engineers do. UAV’s? Again, ask a non military engineer. People get the impression that civilians are all out of shape slobs that don’t know how to built a sand castle, let alone an explosive device.

Does any superpatriot/wannabe revolutionary think they can actually take on the government and the US military?

July 9th, 2010 by eranio

Radical idiots from both sides of the spectrum are now issuing death threats to Congressmen, taking part in vandalism, and there are many that are taking about an impending revolution, which makes me laugh. First off, these heroes have relatively few supporters, while the military has millions available for service. Next, they have crappy rifles and Ford trucks, while the US military has automatic weapons, tanks, missiles, rocket launchers, helicopters, etc. In addition, these aren’t the Patriots of the American Revolution (those men were actually led by intelligent leaders and had the support of foreign powers) or even the Confederates of the Civil War (their leaders were also pretty intelligent and they too had some foreign support because of the cotton industry in the South).

Here is the best case scenario for any rebellion: they have uprising in several cities around the US before they are arrested by the cops and are thrown in prison for at least trying to instigate anarchy and endangering the lives of other Americans and the movements break apart because they realize they are losers and wouldn’t last a second if they were standing in front of an Abrams tank.

I don’t understand all of this violent rubbish coming from anonymous weirdos on the internet or on the phone; they don’t seem to have the balls to put themselves in public, unlike the Patriots of the Revolution. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington actually had real grievances, along with the other revolutionaries of the time, and they sure as hell weren’t afraid to be public about their beliefs and didn’t threaten other people.
Ron Paul doesn’t even want to associate himself with those people. He is actually a real patriot who doesn’t threaten people like a coward.
Brothers in the Civil War fought against each other, so I am pretty sure there are some servicemen who would take up arms to fight idiots who are threatening their families and innocent Americans.
Okay, I have nothing against the Tea Party movement in itself, as long as it remains peaceful. If its members behave and don’t use violence, they will become more influential.

Loudness of U.S. Military weapons?

May 15th, 2010 by eranio

I’m just wandering, how loud are the Individual/crew served weapons?
I know how loud a rifle/pistol shot is, I wear ear protection still, with .22′s to .300 mag.
How loud are the = grenade launcher, rocket launchers, mortars, etc.? Can you wear ear plugs when firing weapons in the Military?
Thanks

Would the US military be willing to fight a war with the Mexican Mafia if they ever started taking over towns?

February 17th, 2010 by eranio

in the south-west United States like they do in Mexico. They practically have their own military complete with machine guns and rocket launchers

Should they send luxury yachts secretly armed with the best military weapons to the coast of Somalia?

November 8th, 2009 by eranio

A Somali pirate spots a luxury yacht and discovers that it is perfect to hijack.

As they get closer… all hell breaks loose when the luxury yacht sailors arm themselves with AK-47s, rocket launchers, missile launchers.

Isn’t this the perfect way to stomp some pirate skulls? send in bait to lure the Somali pirates then secretly have the military close by and BAM SURPRISE ATTACK.
