They’ve invented underwater assault rifles, amphibious vehicles, recoiless assault rifles, helicopters that can attack and transport at the same time, tanks that can transport infantry, and machine pistols. What the hell does America have?

Longer barrel with carbine length, ambidextrous, change between regular barrels and the H-BAR with no trouble. Might as well just adopt the Steyr AUG with a 20 inch barrel so you get M16 A1-A4 like performance instead of the problematic 14 inch M4 barrel. The Steyr also has all of it’s problems worked out, so there will be no "gun hell" to go through like there was when the M-16 was first put into service.
Ignore the economic situation at the moment, because we are buying tanks which aren’t being used. Think of how many new rifles could be bought for the price of one tank.

Was just looking at some figures and it seems the South is spending 5 times more on it’s military than the North (.5 billion compared to billion). Yet the North has nearly double the amount of soldiers, more tanks, a hell of a lot more submarines and double the amount of airforce personnel. I’d just like some examples of the weapons and equipment the South are using compared to what the North are using.

My daughter is doing a research paper on the historic costs of military equipment for the WWI, vietnam and desert storm wars. Is there a website that would display what the costs are for some common military items
Like Rifles, tanks, helicopters, fighter planes and bombers, ships,
Military salaries would also be great to get as well

This country has been at war for 5 years now. We are the most sophisticated country in terms of military and money. Yet, we are in a serious war with some of the most disorganized and non-tactical combatants. My question is why is it that with our billion dollar a month budget, we can’t get this thing over with? I know Al-Qaida isn’t spending that kind of money or doesn’t have our kind of equipment. They don’t have planes, tanks, or satelites that I know of. Don’t you think if the arm forces could, this thing could be over in a few weeks?
p.s. The reason I posted here is because I hope to get a lot of responses

I really thought Isreal would win
I still think Isreal has a very strong air force but that’s all they have
with all these tanks and smart bombs u lose against few guys
they proved they have the worst ground troops and defense systems in the world .
3000+ missile (even home made) land in Isreal
where is the most advanced anti missile systems
my advice is: safe your self and never touch Iran , since you can not win against a "few weak soilders"
come on guys make peace

Source: Military (USA) very strong and big. Insurgents: Wear tennis shoes and blue jeans and have basic weapons, no tanks, no vest to protect their body. Do not get paid every two weeks like the USA military "BUT" are beating the USA day in and day out. Much like Vietnam.

I have been thinking about this a lot, I wonder if it would be a good idea to do this. I think our cops and such are just fine right now, but what happens when cops are given armor tanks and such just like the military? Would you start to question the government?
Also would it protect the police better if they had that kind of armor and weapons? What are your views on this?

What do you aim for?
Thanks for the answers.
The reason I was asking was because several people have claimed that a 50-caliber sniper rifle can pierce a tanks armor. I assumed that meant that a 50 caliber sniper rifle could theoretically take down a tank. I was curious about what someone would aim for if they did that. That’s all.

know the current Warfare of the U.S. is different and difficult to combat when you compare it to the U.S. past wars. Heck The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan can not be considered real wars, cause we are fighting Guerilla’s instead of ordinary military armies with vehicles. Its usually considered Police Action instead of regular warfare. I am sure if you took history you would know what the term Police Action means. Yeah, the Taliban had tanks well until we attacked them and destroyed all their tanks in combat. Back to the point, i heard about the new MRAP vehicles but how about tanks which could also be bomb proof. I heard that they are bomb resistant I wonder if that also includes sucide car bombs to. They said it was resistant to IED’s but they never said anything about RPG, are they also RPG proof. How about Generades anything Generade proof. Well based on the info from Wikipedia, RPGs are very effective against unarmored or lightly armored vehicles such as armored personnel carriers (APCs). The new bomb proof MRAP vehicles are heavily-armored, but that does not answer my question. I don’t believe that the new MRAP vehicles are 100 percent resistant to bombs, but they will contribute to a Possibility of an increasingly large reduction in U.S. army casualities in warfare. Compared to the old or should i say current military vehicles they won’t wear as quick in fact i predict that they these vehicles could take a far long time to wear when being exposed to IEDs. It will take whole alot of IEDs just to destroy one bomb proof military vehicle, imagine insurgents will never get enough time to make the bombs strong enough to destroy the new bomb proof military vehicles. So we all know that insurgents know the risk of attempting to attack our troops with rifles that is why they rely so heavily on the IEDs and other bombs cause they know they can’t beat us in conventional warfare.

There are 180 countries, 7 Billion people (1,6 Billion islamic) on this earth, half of them don’t know, how to survive the next day. What makes anybody think, that terror, as outlet for frustration, could be contained by a couple of guns and tanks. Never, not once in all of human history, has a military solution lasted in any conflict, if the heart of the people wasn’t in it. So, where does the Pentagon get the intelligence, that their big budget actions improve anything? From Korea, Vietnam, Angola, Nigeria, Somalia, liberia, Palestinia, Balkans, Afghanistan, Haiti to Iraq and many more, has any of this conflicts really been solved by the military or despite the military?

Like 1000 tanks 75 jets 150 helicopters 750,000 machine guns . Just what kind of military are we going to leave in Iraq so they can hold off the rest of the middle east . The same kind we shipped them in the early 80′s . Fighter jets ,tanks ,transports, copters ,guns ,ammo ,grenade ,launchers ,explosives mines ,communications equipment and all supplied by our tax dollars .
Some of this stuff is being used to kill our soldiers .
Is Bush just Stupid or what .
You can not win an urban war with ground troops .
You must bomb the people into complete surrender .
They should walk up and ask how high when our soldiers show up . We should find guns all over the streets rusting away .
We need to carpet bomb Iraq into complete submission .

From now on we only give them tanks, warships, missiles, guns…etc
As for anything else we stop it because they are just going to use it for the settlements which they refused to stop building.
what do you think?

For my high school and college career (Im a sophomore) I feel like I havent accomplished anything. I get decent grades, mostly B’s some C’s a few A’s. I feel that college is a stepping stone of mostly useless information and that I’m just kissing butt and playing the game only to set myself up for a boring teaching/desk job. I’m not even good at teaching!!! My advisors keep telling me to find what your passionate about and follow it. Well, To be quite honest, I am highly knowledgable about firearms and the history of warfare, I’m athletic, I hunt, fish, and love the outdoors. I’m fascinated with tanks, jets, and other weaponry. I want to be part of something and feel like I am accomplishing something. I want to push myself physically and learn information that I am excited about. Should I just stay in school, or do you think I should pursue a military career?
I am already currently a history major in college. If I were to enlist after this year I would qualify for: Advanced Paygrade of E-3 (PFC) is authorized for an applicant who: Has successfully completed 48 or more classroom semester hours.

Of course, with any armed forces, you’ll have high-tech equipment such as anti-aircraft systems, tanks, machine guns, etc. In Israel, is it implied or understood that soldiers have to break the commandment (and not keep Shabbat) as long as they’re in service?

Aside from tanks, what weapons do military personel have access to that police department don’t?
By the way, nukes don’t count, because your regular soldier doesn’t have access to them, but the department of defense does, just as the chief operating department of law enforcement (department of justice) could gain access to them if needed.
As far as standard weapons go, what does the military have that police agencies (including federal agencies, such as the FBI, ATF, DEA, etc don’t have?
